A new way for you to connect
Eaton’s StrandAble terminals allow you to connect nearly
any class of rigid or fine strand wire directly to the molded
case circuit breaker without the use of additional fittings.
This is a perfect solution when looking to save time when
assembling an electrical control or distribution panel.
The use of fine strand wire,
commonly called “welding or
locomotive cable, has become
commonplace in the electrical
industry as it allows for easier
and quicker installations in tight
spaces. Most molded case
circuit breakers do not have
terminals that are UL® listed for
fine strand wire use. Standard
molded case circuit breaker
terminals are listed for class B
and C rigid wire by default in
accordance with UL 489 & 486.
Various sleeve style fittings can
be used to make fine strand
wire suitable for use in the
circuit breaker terminal, but not
all are UL listed, and some can
be quite expensive. Additionally,
the use of these fittings can
cause adverse circuit breaker
performance such as wire
pull-out during magnetic inter-
ruption, or loose connections
that manifest themselves in
nuisance tripping, arcing, or fire.
Eatons StrandAble terminals
now make it simple and easy,
and provide you a secure UL
listed connection for all common
rigid and fine strand wire. Table
1 outlines all wire classes
