1 Introduction
1.1 Instruction Safety
This chapter contains information on how to operate aQuiLa TS101-Basic(GC) safely. By following
these instructions and recommendations, the risky situations can be avoided. Read the instructions
carefully and follow them strictly while operating the device.
aQuiLa track TS101-Basic(GC) device is designed to work in automotive environment with
supply range of +9V to +32V DC power supply.
To avoid mechanical damage, it is advised to transport the aQuiLa TS101-Basic(GC) device in an
impact proof package.
Device should not be installed in the location in which it easily accessible to the vehicle
operator.

possibilities, electrical, mechanical characteristics, & configuration of the TS101-Basic(GC) device.

3 Basic Description
TS101-Basic is an electronic device which locates its position and sends it by using GPRS network
along with I/O information. This device is suitable for the applications, where it needs the location of
remote asset. It is important to mention that TS101-Basic has additional inputs and outputs which

will control and monitor other devices/status on remote asset. TS101-Basic also has a program port
for device status log output and configuration of the device.
3.1 Contents of the package
Usually the TS101-Basic device is supplied to the customer in a cardboard box will have below

3.5 Technical Information about internal Battery
Li-Ion Rechargeable battery, 3.7V, 700mAh
TS101-Basic operating time with internal backup battery depends on temperature, data sending
frequency (SMS and GPRS) and accumulator age and number of charge/discharge cycle.
Charging temperature: 0 – 45°C
CAUTION: Risk of explode if the battery is induced to mechanical damage.
3.5.1 Battery Disposal Instruction
Battery should not be disposed with house hold waste. Damaged batteries are
disposed to battery recycle bin found in stores.

7 Configuration
7.1 System requirements
Operating system version: 32-bit and 64-bit.
Operating system: Windows 7 and later.
Java: JDK and JRE 8.0 and above.
USB to Serial converter

7.2 Setup Java Environment
7.2.1 Installation of JDK
Download and follow below procedure for installing jdk 1.8. Download the appropriate jdk
(32bit/64bit) based on the system which it is intended to use.

Select and open the downloaded file.
Pop up message will come by requesting Yes or No. select Yes.

7.2.2 Setting environmental variables
Copy the bin folder path from the folder in which the Java is installed. Below is the example
path.
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_141\bin
Right click on My Computer/This PC icon in your system and click on properties.

Select Advanced System settings in the System window. (For windows 10)
In system properties window, click on “Environmental Variables”

In system variable window of wage Environmental Variables, paste the java path which is copied
in the value of the variable “Path”.

7.3 Configuration Setup
To configure the device below is the hardware setup which should be rigged up.
7.3.1 Preparation of DB9 connector.
Below is the table of wire colour with respect to PIN number of DB9 female connector.

Solder the wire to different PINs of DB9 Connector as per above table. Refer the below figure for the
reference.

7.3.2 Full Setup
Connect the Red wire of the device to +ve terminal of the power supply.
Connect the Black wire of the device to Ground wire of the power supply.
Connect the Orange wire of the device to orange wire of the DB9 female connector.
Connect the White wire of the device to white wire of the DB9 female connector.
Connect the DB9 female connector to USB to Serial converter.

7.4 Firmware Update
Please request the latest firmware to FAE or a Sales coordinator.
7.4.1 Using Flash Tool
Flashing of TS101 Basic(GC) can be done by using a tool called Q flash. iTriangle FAEs will have the
flash tool. Get the flash tool and the latest firmware from FAEs. Below are the steps to update the
firmware of the device.
7.4.1.1 Upgrade Procedure
The tool is used to upgrade the firmware. It works according to following steps.

7.4.1.1.1.1 Serial Port
Click the “COM Port” dropdown list to select the COM port which is used to upgrade the firmware.
For GSM/GPRS modules, it is the Main UART to relate to the module, as shown in below figure.

7.4.1.1.1.2 Baud Rate
Click the “Baud rate” dropdown list and choose an appropriate baud rate. It is
recommended to select 460800, as shown in the following figure.

7.4.1.1.1.3 Download Options
Press the combination of Alt+Shift+O it will open the download option. Select the Download FW and
Format option.
