Safety Precautions
Caution: To prevent personal injury,
Wear eye protection that meets ANSI Z87.1 and OSHA standards.
Before repairing a vehicle, block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
 Checkthenalalignmentoftheballjointpressandtoolingwiththecomponentsbeforeexerting
pressure to remove or replace a ball joint.
Operating Instructions
Application : 2002-’06 Honda CRV Lower Ball Joint
Removal
Note: No. 538590 Honda adapter must be used with OTC
No. 6530 Ball Joint Super Set.
1. Replace the forcing screw in the C-frame with the No. 314392
live center forcing screw (included in the No. 6530 set).
2. Remove the ball joint dust boot.
3. Assemble the ball joint press over the control arm as shown
in Figure 1.
4. Turn the forcing screw until the removing adapter meets
the control arm. Check the alignment of all tooling and
components. Tighten the forcing screw until the ball joint is
removed.
Installation
1. Clean the control arm and coat the I.D. with a suitable
lubricant.
2. Insert the replacement ball joint as straight as possible into
the vehicle control arm.
3. Assemble the ball joint press components as shown in Figure
2. Check the alignment of all tooling and components. Tighten
the forcing screw until the ball joint is rmly seated.

Removal
