IMPORTANT!ALLOWFORADEQUATEVENTILATION.
Alwaysreducevolumebyturninglevelcontrolsfullycounterclockwisewheneither
connectingordisconnectingcablestotheamplifier.Thisreducesthechanceofan
audio"spike"thatcouldpossiblycauseloudspeakerdamage.Theguidelinesbelow
areprovidedtohelpyougetyouramplifierinstalledandreadytogoquicklyand
easily.BesuretofollowtheinstructionsinSections2.1and2.2fortheselected
modeofoperation.Additionalinformationoninputsensitivity,loadprotectionand

Toprotectagainstexcessivepower,afusecanbeaddedinserieswitheach
loudspeakercable.Asinglefusecanprotecttheentiresystem,orcanbeusedforeach
driver.Highfrequencydrivers(tweeters)areusuallymoresensitivetolargevoltage
peaks,whilelow-frequencydrivers(woofers)aretypicallymostsensitivetotheheatfrom
averageRMSoutputpower.Toprotectyourtweeters,werecommendthatyouusea
high-speedinstrumentfuseliketheLittlefuse361000series.Toprotectyourwoofers,
werecommendusingaslow-blowfusethatmorecloselyrepresentsthethermal
responseofyourwoofer.UseFigure2-6tofindthecorrectvalueforeithertypeoffuse.
AllDPSeriesamplifiersareshippedwithanappropriatelinecordandplug.When
possible,useapowerreceptacleonadedicatedcircuit;andalways,makesureitwill
providethecorrectvoltageandsufficientcurrent.Wedonotrecommendoperatingyour
amplifierwithvoltagesgreaterthan10%aboveorbelowtheunit'sratedvoltage.For
example,ifyouramplifierisratedfor220VAC,thelinevoltageshouldnotexceed240
VAC.
CAUTION:Connectunitonlytoapropersupply.Useonlythreewirecordwhichis
providedwithunit.
CAUTION:Neverstrapthetworedoutputterminalstogether(inparallel).Never
connecteitherredoutputterminaltochassisground.

Althoughyouramplifierisprotectedfromexternalfaults,thefollowingsafetyprecautions
arerecommended:
1.ThereareimportantdifferencesamongtheStereo,Bridge-MonoandParallel-Mono
operatingmodes.PleaserefertoSection2foradditionalinformation.

5.1Precautions
WARNINGDonotchangethepositionofthestereo/monoswitchunlessthe
amplifierisfirstturnedoff.
CAUTION:Neverstrapthetworedoutputterminalstogether(inparallel).Never
connecteitherredoutputterminaltochassisground.
Also,makesuretheStereo/Monoswitchissettotheproperposition.
4.Donotshortthegroundleadofanoutputcabletotheinputsignalground.Thiswill
formagroundloopandmaycauseoscillations.
5.DonotoperatetheamplifierfromACmainsinexcessof10%variationaboveorbelow
theselectedlinevoltage,andonlyatthespecifiedlinefrequency.
6.Neverconnecttheoutputtoapowersupplyoutput,batteryorpowermain.Such
connectionsmayresultinelectricalshock.
7.Tamperingwithcircuitrybyunqualifiedpersonnelormakingunauthorizedcircuit
changesmaybehazardousandinvalidateswarranty.
Whenilluminated,thegreenpowerindicator(thevolumecontrol)showsthatthe
amplifierhasbeenturnedon.Itisdrivenonlybythelow-voltagepowersupplyand
doesnotindicatethestatusofthehigh-voltagesupply.
DPSeriesamplifiershaveextensiveprotectionsystems,includingTPC,protection,
driveprotection,transformerthermalprotection,andfusesorcircuitbreakersthat
protectthepowersupplies.
RememberDIGISYNTHETICAudioINC.,isnotliableforanydamagethatresultsfrom
overdrivingothersystemcomponents.
5.2PowerIndicator

5TheDriveProtectionSystemtemporarilyremovesoutputdrivetoprotectthe
amplifieranditsloads.DriveProtectionSystemcanbeactivatedintwosituations.
First,ifdangeroussubsonicfrequenciesordirectcurrent(DC)isdetectedinthe
amplifier'soutput,theunitwillactivateitsDC/low-frequencyprotectioncircuitry,which
putstheamplifierinDriveProtectionmode.Thismodeprotectstheloadsand
preventsoscillations.Theunitresumesnormaloperationassoonastheamplifierno
longerdetectsdangerousoutput.AlthoughitisextremelyunlikelythattheDC/low-
frequencyprotecti-onsystemwilleverbeactivated,impropersourcematerialslike
subsonicsquarewavesorinputover-loads,thatexcessivelycliptheinputsignal,can
activatethissystem.
.3.1DriveProtection
Theamplifier'sprotectionsystemwillactivatetheamplifier'sDriveProtectionmode
inraresituationswhereheavycommon-modecurrentisdetectedintheoutput.The
unitshouldneveroutputheavycommon-modecurrentunlessitscircuitryis
damaged.ActivatingDriveProtectionmodehelpspreventfurtherdamage.
5.3.2
AllDPSeriesamplifiershaveTransformersThermalProtection.Thisprotectionis
activatedinunusualsituationswheretheunit'stransformertemperaturerisesto
unsafelevels.Undertheseabnormalconditions,theunitwillremovesoutputdrive
toprotectamplifier..Thefanwillcontinuetoruninallunits.Theamplifierwillreturn
tonormalafteritcoolstoasafetemperature.I

amplifierwilleveractivateitsTransformerThermalProtectionaslongasitis
operatedwithinratedconditions.

5.3.3SignalLimitingCircuit
OutputPower:
Thisinternallimitingcircuitautomaticallyreducegainbecauseofasignificantdeviation
betweeninputandoutputsignalflow,preventingoccurrenceofgrossnon-linearity
conditionsinsidetheamplifiercausedbyoverdrive,overloadordefect,andkeepsthe
signalshapeunalteredunderanyconditions.Thecircuitkeepsignalflowdistortion
under0.5%,andthusguaranteescleansoundandeffectivespeakonprotection.
Allamplifierspecificationsapplytothefollowingsettings:Stereomodewith8-ohmloads
andaninputsensitivityof32dB,unlessotherwisespecified.
