Introduction
A344-18-840 Issue B
1Introduction
This manual provides installation instructions for replacing the flexible coupling insert for the drive coupling on the
ATEX variants of the E1M / E2M / 40 / 80 / 175 / 275.
Read this manual before you replace the coupling insert. Important safety information is highlighted as WARNING
instructions; you must obey these instructions. The use of WARNINGS is defined below.
CAUTION
Cautions are given where failure to observe the instruction could result in damage to the equipment, associated
equipment and process.
2 Replacing the flexible coupling insert
Use the following procedure to replace the flexible coupling insert:
1. Ensure that the pump is isolated from the electrical supply.
2. Refer to Figure 1 and 2. Undo the screws that secure one of the side panels to the oil box and then remove the
side panel.
3. Undo the screws securing the other side panel to the oil box and then remove the side panel.
If you are replacing a flexible coupling insert on an E1M40/80 or E2M40/80 then continue at Step 4. If you are
replacing a flexible coupling insert on an E1M175/275 or E2M175/275 then continue at Step 12.
4. Refer to Figure 1. With the motor supported, undo and remove the four bolts (1) securing the motor mounting
plate (6) to the oil box. Crane away the motor from the adaptor.
5. Remove the retaining ring (4) and the coupling insert (5) together from the hub.
6. Separate the coupling insert (5) from the retaining ring (4) and dispose of the insert. Refer to Section 2 for
disposal instructions.
7. Fit the new coupling insert to the inside of the retaining ring (4), ensuring that the reference lines of the outside
of the retaining ring are aligned to grooves on the outside of the coupling insert.
8. Re-fit the retaining ring and coupling insert together to the coupling hub on the pump shaft.
WARNING
Warnings are given where failure to observe the instruction could result in injury or death to
people.
WARNING
Ensure the position of the coupling hubs are not moved as this may prevent the correct assembly
of the coupling insert. Failure to do so could result in failure of the drive coupling leading to a risk
of an ignition of any potentially flammable atmosphere.
WARNING
Ensure the use of the correct lifting techniques and equipment.

Replacing the flexible coupling insert
9. With the motor still supported, move the motor towards the pump coupling hub and locate the drive hub into
the coupling insert ensuring that the motor mounting plate is fully located against the oil box.
10. Tighten the four fixing bolts to a torque of 12 Nm.
11. Refit both side panels to the oil box. The pump is now ready to run.
Note: There are no setscrews on the E1M40/80 or E2M40/80 coupling.
12. Refer to Figure 2. Loosen the setscrews (4) on the holding ring and slide the retaining ring from the coupling
insert (3) either towards the pump or motor.
13. Remove the coupling insert (3) and dispose of it correctly. Refer to Section 2 for disposal instructions.
14. Fit the new coupling insert to the gaps between the teeth on the drive coupling (2).
15. Turn the retaining ring so that the reference line on the holding ring is aligned with the grooves on the outside of
the coupling insert (3) and then slide the retaining ring over the insert.
16. Hand tighten the setscrews (4) to secure the holding ring in place.
17. Refit both side panels to the oil box. The pump is now ready to run.
