Introduction
1
Sample VGA-PM Application
The VGA-PM is an accessory designed to help protect a VGA input from
electrostatic discharge and electrical surges as follows:
Protects from electrostatic discharge according to IEC-61000-4-2 Air-15kV,
Contact-8kV
Protects from electrical surges according to IEC-61000-4-5 Level 2
The module installs inline between a VGA input and a VGA cable to help
prevent damage or malfunction caused by electrical disturbances on the line.
In most applications, the VGA-PM can be attached directly to the input
connector of the protected component. A ground lead is included, which can
be connected to a suitable grounding point for optimal protection.
The VGA-PM requires no power or configuration.
2
Connections
To connect the VGA-PM:
1. Connect ground wire to suitable grounding point.
2. Connect the male VGA connector of the VGA-PM to the VGA input of a
device (for example, the DM-TX-200).
3. Connect a VGA cable to the VGA output of the video source (for example,
a laptop) and then to the female VGA connector of the VGA-PM.
