Use Instructions:
1. With the 3M
TM
Breathing Tube 008-00-14R01 connected only to the blower/filtration unit, hold the free end
of the tube up by grasping the slotted connector and covering the slots of the connector with thumb and
forefinger. Drop the black, bullet-shaped airflow indicator (pointed end first) into the slotted connector.
2. Turn on the blower/filteration unit.
3. Hold the hose so it is vertical and at eye level. The indicator should “float” on the air coming out
and the lower band be above the connector’s rim.
4. If the indicator fails to float at this level, check the breathing tube, battery, and filter. Refer to the
trouble-shooting section of the 3M
TM

5. Make sure the lower mark on the airflow indicator is at or above the mark specified before entering
the work area. Failure to do so may result in inadequate airflow, which may cause bodily injury or death.
6. When you have sufficient airflow, remove the airflow indicator and connect the breathing tube to
the headpiece.

Be sure to also carry out other component pre-operational inspections described in the 3M Air-Mate
TM
high efficiency powered air blower/filtration unit

only at the slotted connector end of the breathing tube.
