7. Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
8° To disconnect, turn all controls to the off ("0") position, then remove plug from out_et.
9. Do not unplug by pulling on cord.To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
10. Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Special care is required around the sewing machine needle.

Connecting Machine to Power Supply
Before connecting the power cord, make sure the voltage
and frequency shown on the machine conform to your
electrical power,
* Turn off the power switch (_,. Insert the foot control plug
(_ and the machine plug (_, into the machine. Insert the
power supply ptug (_ into the wall in this order:

For Your Safety
* While in operation, always keep your eyes on the
sewing area. Do not touch any moving parts such as the
thread take-up lever, handwheel or needle.
* Always turn off the power switch and unplug from the
power supply:

-- When attaching or removing parts.
-- When cleaning the machine..
* Do not place anything on the foot control when not
sewing
Operating Instructions

Electronic Sewing Speed Control
o Speed control lever
Sewing speed can be controlled by adjusting the speed
contro_ lever 1_,
To increase the maximum sewing speed, slide the lever
to the right
To decrease the maximum sewing speed, slide the lever
to the }eft.

Sewing speed can be varied by the foot control
The harder you press on the foot control, the faster the
machine runs,

Main Function of Buttons
Up/Down needle position button
When the Up/Down needle position button is pressed,
the needle bar goes down and stops in the lowest
position. When pressed again, the needle bar goes up
and stops in the highest position°
* When this button is pressed, the needie bar
alternates up and down positions when the
machine stops.
_) Auto-lock button
1>
When stitches • _ -> are selected, the machine
will immediately sew locking stitches when the
auto-lock button is pressed, then automatically stop.
When sewing all other stitches, the machine will sew
locking stitches at the end of the current pattern and
automatically step.
(_ Reverse button
When stitches ¢_ _ :_ are selected, the machine
will sew in reverse while the reverse button is pressed,
if you press the reverse button when sewing all other
stitches, the machine will immediately sew locking
stitches and automaticaly stop,
®Screen sharpness adjusting dial
Use this to adjust the sharpness of the liquid crystal
display. If no indication is shown on the screen after
you switch on the power, adjust the screen brightness
with this dial.

Set the indication mark "A" to a dot" -" with the end of
the lint brush to select the language you need.

By pressing the key, the LED light moves step by step
to select the stitch mode, as shown.

For editing, use the stitch width "+" or '-" key to select
editing position (see page 114,116)o
Manual setting function of the zigzag width and stitch
length for programmed patterns.
The individual programmed zigzag pattern width or
stitch length can be changed (see page 56).

(For Blue mode stitches)
Stitches 40 to 55 can be elongated up to five times
their normal length by pressing this key.

@ Stock/Call key
When you press the Stock/Call key after memorizing a
pattern or editing patterns, the current registered
patterns witf be deleted and new patterns will be
stored° Other than this, you can recall the stored
patterns when you press the Stock/Call key°
You can store a maximum of 50 programmed patterns
per mode.
* You cannot store the Direct mode patterns. Also
you cannot memorize patterns by using the memory
key.,
Q Direct pattern selection and number keys
• Direct pattern selection
You can select the patterns 01 to 10, and buttonhole
stitches BH1 to BH3 when the mode key isset at the
direct selection.
In the Blue mode 01 _96, the patterns 0t to 10 can
be selected when you setect the numbers instead of
Direct mode..

To Raise or Drop the Feed Dogs
The drop feed dogs lever is located underneath the free
arm bed on the back side of the machine.
Q To drop the feed dogs, push the lever in the direction
of the arrow as illustrated°
® To raise the feed dogs, push the lever in the direction
of the arrow as illustrated and turn the handwheet
toward you°
Feed dogs must be up for normal sewing.

Q Pressure adjusting lever
The pressure adjusting lever should be set at "3" for
regular sewing. Reduce pressure to "2"for applique, cut
the work, draw work and basting°
Set pressure at "1" when sewing chiffon, lace, organdy and
other fine fabrics, Velour and knits with a lot of stretch may
also require pressure at "1"o
Presser Foot Lifter

You can raise it about 1/4"(0.6ore)higher than the normal
up position for easy removal of the presser foot or help you

Changing Needle
[_ Raise the needle by pressing the up/down needle
button and lower the presser foot,,
Turn off the power switch.,
Loosen the needle clamp screw by turning it
counterclockwise.
Remove the needle from the clamp.
[] Insert the new needle into the needle clamp with the flat
side to the rear.
When inserting the needle into the clamp, push it up as
far as it will go. Tighten the clamp screw firmly by
turning it clockwise.
[] To check for a good needle, put the flat side of the
needle onto something fiat (the needle plate, glass,
etc.). The gap between the needle and the flat surface
should be consistent° Never use a bent or blunt needle.

Selecting Needle and Fabric
For general sewing use needle size 11 or 14. A fine thread and needle should be used for sewing lightweight
fabrics so the fabric will not be marred° Heavy fabrics require a needle large enough to pierce the fabric
without fraying the needle thread.
In the needles case there is one each of size 11, 14, 16, 18 and blue needieo Use a blue needle to eliminate
skipped stitches when sewing knits and synthetic fabrics°
Special needles should be used on certain fabrics. A denim needle with a sharp tip is used to effectively
pierce dense fabrics such as denim and canvas.. For topstitching, a special topstitching needle with a larger
eye accommodates heavier weight thread. Leather needles punch small holes in leather and suede allowing
the thread to follow through the hole.
Check your needles frequently for rough or blunt tips. Snags and runs in knits, fine silks and silk4ike fabrics
are permanent and are often caused by damaged needle&
Always purchase a good quality thread. It should be strong, smooth and consistent in thickness°
