Mounting Instructions
Note!
Please note that during storage and transportation,
especially at high ambient temperature, some of the
oil and grease used for assembling may leak and stain
the packaging. This is in no way detrimental to the
product, wipe off the excessive oil/grease with a cloth.
Warning!
Before installing this product, read the Öhlins Owner’s
Manual. The shock absorber is an important part of
your vehicle and will affect the stability.

After installation
Caution!
Ensure that all screws are tightened to the correct torque
and that nothing fouls or restricts movement of the shock
absorber when the suspension is fully compressed or
extended.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Warning!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the shock
absorber.
Warning!
If working on a raised vehicle, ensure it is securely
supported so that it will not tip.
Note!
Before installing this product clean the vehicle thoroughly.
Note!
When working on this product, always see the vehicle
service manual for vehicle specic procedures and
important data.
Protect from heat
The working environment is very important
for the shock absorber’s performance and
longevity. Always pay attention to the shock
absorber temperature. For the TTX40/TTX
-
46MT shock absorbers, low temperatures are
normally not a problem whereas high temper
-
atures are.
Some heat is generated by the damping en
-
ergy, but most of the heat comes from being
close to the engine, exhaust or brake. Try to
keep the temperature below 90° C (approx.
200° F). If the shock absorber runs hotter
than 120° C (approx 250° F) try to allow some
cool air reach in to the shock absorber. Heat
shields may be necessary.
Caution!
Always protect the reservoir and the hose from heat.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Reservoir with hose
If your shock absorber is equipped with a
reservoir attached with a hose;
1
Mount the reservoir with appropriate clamp.
Note the position of the clamp. Clamp around
the elevated part of the reservoir not to dam
-
age any internal parts.
Note!
Install the reservoir so that there is no, or minimum
possible, hose movement. Make sure there are no strains
to the hose for maximum range of suspension travel and
wheel angles.
Note!
Always make sure the reservoir is protected from gravel
spray and ying pebbles. Consider protecting it with a
cover if the reservoir is exposed to gravel spray.
TTX46MT/CR
1
Loosen/tighten the shaft end lock nut with a
ring spanner.
2
If the shaft end rotates, keep the shaft end
steady with a socket wrench or a ring spanner.
3
Tighten the lock nut to 45Nm with a torque
wrench.
Caution!
Never use an impact gun to unscrew or to tighten, it may
damage internal parts.
