2. Please study and make certain that you fully
understand all the mounting instructions and
the owner’s manual before handling this shock
absorber kit. If you have any questions regard-
ing proper installation procedures, contact an
Öhlins dealer or other qualifi ed person.
3. The vehicle service manual must be
referred to when installing the Öhlins shock
absorber

NOTE!
During storage and transportation, especially
at high ambient temperature, the oil and
grease used for assembling may run out in-
side the packing and damage the expanded
polystyrene packing material. This is not
unusual and is in no way detrimental to the
shock absorber.

injury to anyone working with, inspect-
ing or using the shock absorber, or to
bystanders.

Caution indicates that special pre-
cautions must be taken to avoid damage
to the shock absorber.
NOTE!
Indicates information that is of importance
regarding mounting procedures.

WARNING!
1. It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer
or other qualifi ed person install the shock
absorber.
2. Follow the instructions in the vehicle service
manual when changing the shock absorber.
3. When working on a raised vehicle, make
sure that it is securely supported to prevent
it from falling.

Compress the front part of the rear suspen-
sion so that the limiter strap is no longer
tight.
A tip: Put a large piece of wood under the front
part of the rear suspension to raise it and thereby
loosen the tension of the limiter strap.

Loosen the two lower screws of the limiter
straps.

Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground. Make sure the
vehicle is securely supported so that it will
not fall over.

Loosen the rear suspension by removing the rear
screws, one on each side of the vehicle.

The rear suspension has two forks on top of the
front arm. Lit the fork off the axle and the rear
suspension is detached.

Remove the hose clamp that holds the original
shock absorber reservoir.

Attach the upper attachment. Use the original
screw and nut.

Tighten the screws of the upper and lower at-
tachments.

Tighten the three screws holding the slide rail.

Remove the upper attachment of the original
shock absorber.
NOTE!
The metal cover on the upper attachment will not
be needed for the Öhlins shock absorber.

Remove the lower attachment of the original
shock absorber. See figure on previous
page.

Loosen the three screws on the slide rail, as
indicated on the fi gure. Press the slide rail apart
and rotate the shock absorber and axle so that
the whole unit comes out. See fi gure.

Attach the axle, bushing, washers and the two
sleeves onto the Öhlins shock absorber.

Install the Öhlins shock absorber, the reservoir
on the left side. Use the original screw and nut.
Install the axle in the middle hole.
NOTE!
Attach the axle and the shock absorber in the
middle hole.

Put the rear suspension back into the track.
Tighten the screws, one on each side of the
vehicle.
