POWER SUPPLY
WARNING:
YOUR ELECTRIC GRASS TRIMMER IS WIRED AT THE FACTORY FOR 110-120V
OPERATION, IT MUST BE CONNECTED TO A 110-120V/15-AMP. TIME DELAY FUSE OR
CIRCUIT BREAKER. FAILURE TO CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN RESULT IN INJURY FROM
SHOCK OR FIRE. The grass trimmer plug (A) Fig.1 is intended for use with a polarized 2 wire or 3
wire outdoor rated extension cord (B) as illustrated in Fig.1.
SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS: POLARIZED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this grass trimmer comes with a polarized 120V plug (one blade
is wider than the other). It must be used with a suitable polarized 2 wire or 3 wire extension cord.
Polarized connections will fit together only one way. Make sure that the receptacle end of the
extension cord has large and small blade slot widths. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension
cord, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, obtain a suitable extension cord. If the extension cord
does not fit fully in the outlet, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not
modify the tool plug or extension cord in any way.
USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD
Make sure the extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use
one heavy enough to carry the current your tool will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in
line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. See Fig.2 for table showing correct size to
use depending on the cord lenght and the nameplate amperage rating. If in doubt, use the next
heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord. Always use U.L. or CSA
listed extension cords rated for outdoor use.
WARNING: Replace damaged cords immediately. Use of damaged cords can shock, burn or
electrocute.
CONNECTING EXTENSION CORD TO GRASS TRIMMER PLUG
Secure the extension cord (A) Fig.3 to the extension cord lock (B) on the motor
housing. First bend the end of the extension cord and then pass it through the cord
lock opening. Then slip the extension cord around the “T” notch cord lock (B) and pull
on the extension cord to get a tight fit. This will prevent accidental unplugging of the
extension cord during use. Then plug the female end of the extension cord (C) into the
tool’
s polarized plug (D).

OPERATING YOUR GRASS TRIMMER
Refer to the general and specific safety instructions and familiarize yourself with your
grass trimmer before attempting to operate.
This grass trimmer is intended for cutting dry grass only.
Operation of the Foldable Edge Guide/Vegetation Guard
The foldable edge guide/vegetation guard (A) Fig.9 helps keep the cutting lines from
damaging trees, flower beds, walls or fences. When applicable, lower the edge guide
to its horizontal position. When not in use, raise the edge guide to its vertical position.
Operation of the Guide Wheel in Edging Mode
When the grass trimmer is in Edging mode (head swiveled in edging position), the
safety guard has a built-in guide wheel (B) Fig.9. This wheel guide is used to help guide
the grass trimmer along the edges of sidewalks or driveways. Position guide wheel on
the edge of the surface and slowly move the grass trimmer during the cut.
Line-Feed (Automatic and Manual Mechanisms)
During use, the tips of the cutting lines will get shorter due to wear, especially if the
cutting is done along sidewalks or other abrasive surfaces or thick weeds are being cut.
Line feeding can be done automatically or manually.
Automatic Line-feed- When the grass trimmer switch is released after use, the cutting
lines will lengthen by increments. Once the cutting lines reach the line cutting blade (A)

contact the nearest King Canada Service Center.
Tool runs slowly
a) Check that the spool housing can rotate freely. Carefully clean it if necessary.
b) Check that the cutting lines do not protrude more than 5-1/2” from the spool housing. If they do, cut them off so that they just reach the line
trimming blade.
Automatic line-feed does not work
a) Keep the tabs depressed and remove the spool cover from the housing.
b) Pull the cutting lines until they protrude 5-1/2” from the housing. If insufficient cutting lines are left on the spool, install a new spool & line.
If the line-feed still does not work or the spool is jammed, try the following suggestion:
Carefully clean the spool cover and housing.
Remove the spool and check if the manual line-feed button can move freely.
