Introduction 3
Introduction 0
If PX500 Series (PX502, PX506, and PX510) libraries are in a multiple library
stack, the library firmware must be uploaded individually to each cabinet. If
you attempt to upload library firmware to only the Master library in the
stack, the slave libraries may not receive the firmware update properly.
Uploading Library Firmware 0
Uploading library firmware to a multiple library stack consists of the
following steps:
Changing the Library Stack Role
Uploading Library Firmware
Returning the Library Stack Role
Changing the Library
Stack Role 0
The library must be in Stand alone mode prior to receiving the library
firmware update.
To change the library stack role:
1From the Operator Control Panel (OCP), press Setup from the Home
screen.
The OCP displays the Setup screen (see figure 1):
Figure 1 Setup Screen
2From the Setup screen, use the up and down arrows to select Cabinet and
press Enter.
The Cabinet screen displays (see figure 2):

The system prompts you with a confirmation screen asking Change to
Standalone and reboot this system?
5Press Yes.
The library shuts down. Continue with Uploading Library Firmware.
Uploading Library
Firmware 0
After the library stack role is set to Stand alone, you can upload library
firmware to the cabinet.
To upload library firmware:
1Connect an Ethernet cable to the left-hand Ethernet port on the library
SCB and to a network host on the same subnet as the library (see figure 3).
Figure 3 Connecting to the
Library SCB
Note: Make note of the original stack role. You must return the
library to its original stack role after the library firmware has
been updated.
Note: If this was the Master library, there will already be an Ethernet
cable connected to the library SCB.

2Use the OCP to determine the IP address for the library. The Network
information is available from the Info menu.
3On the host computer, open the internet browser software.
4In the Address field, type http://IPaddress/ where IP address is the IP
address for the library.
5Enter the username and password and click OK.
The Overview page displays (see figure 4).

The library reboots. Repeat the firmware upgrade procedure for every
library in the stack. When all libraries have been updated, continue with
Returning the Library Stack Role.
Returning the Library
Stack Role 0
After the library firmware has been updated on all of the libraries and the
libraries have rebooted, you must return each library to its original library
stack role.
To return the library stack role:
