EN K-EAS
SOIL ISOLATION ELECTRODE
2 / 3
1 INTRODUCTION
The K-EAS floor electrode arises for one of the systems used for protection against indirect contacts in certain
premises and non-conductive sites is based on that, in case of defect of basic or main isolation of the active
parts, is prevented simultaneous contact with parts that may be at different voltages, using insulating floors
and walls with an insulation resistance of not less than:
- 50 Kω, if the nominal voltage of the installation does not exceed 500 V
- 100 Kω, if the rated voltage of the installation is greater than 500 V
2 DESCRIPTION
1. Square stainless steel plate of 250 mm side
2. Metric bolt 6
3. Hole fastening
3 OPERATION
To comply with the above values, at least 3 measurements must be made in the same room, one of these
measures being the electrode located, approximately 1m from a conductive element accessible in the room.
The other 2 measurements will be made at higher distances. This series of 3 measurements must for each
important area of the premises.
For these measurements, a megohmmeter capable of supplying a voltage of about 500 V of direct current
(1000 V if the installation voltage is higher than 500 V) must be used in vacuum.
The measuring electrode consists of a square metal plate with a side of 250 mm and a wet and drained hy-
drophilic paper or cloth of about 270 mm on each side that is placed between the plate and the surface to be
tested. During the measurements, a force of 750 N or 250 N is applied to the plate, depending on whether it is
a floor or walls.
