INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1 Safety information
The safety of this appliance complies with recognised
engineering practice and the appliance safety laws. In
addition, as manufacturers, we are prompted to
acquaint you with the following safety information.
Electrical safety
The new appliance is only to be installed and con-
nected by a certified installer.
3
Please comply with this instruction. In the
event of non-compliance, your claims under
the warranty lapse if damage should result
from this.
Repairs to the appliance are only to be carried out
by certified experts. Serious damage can occur
through inexpert repairs. For repairs, contact our
customer support centre or your specialist dealer.
In the event of faults occurring on the appliance,
fractures, fissures or cracks:
switch the appliance off,
trip the appliance circuit breaker or remove the
fuse.
Child safety
When you are cooking or roasting, the appliance and
the wok pan become hot and there is a risk of injury
through the spraying of hot fat. In principle therefore,
keep young children clear of the cooking area.
Safety during use
This appliance may only be used for normal
household boiling, roasting and grilling of food.
Due to the induction heating process, the wok pan
heats up much faster than you will be accustomed
to with other cooking appliances. Risk of burns.
Only (rounded base) wok pans specially intended
for this appliance may be used.
The glass-ceramic cuvette is warmed up by the
heat of the wok pan. To avoid burns, do not touch
the cuvette.
Caution when connecting electrical appliances to
nearby power sockets. Connector leads are not to
come into contact with the hot appliance or hot
wok pan.
Overheated fats and oils ignite quickly. Watch the
cooking process constantly when preparing food
in fat or oil.
Switch the appliance off after each use and when
removing the wok pan for a long period of time.
This ensures that the appliance must be intention-
ally switched on again with the touch controls and
you avoid any inadvertent automatic heating up as
soon as a wok pan is placed in/on the cuvette.
No paper, card, cloth etc. is to be placed between
the glass-ceramic cuvette and the wok pan as this
could result in a fire.
A flow of cooling air must be continuously supplied
to the cooking appliance and extracted. Do not
close off the air inlet (in the base unit underneath
the appliance) and the air outlet (underneath the
working surface).
To avoid overheating the wok pan, never heat the
wok pan without food and unsupervised.
If fat or oil is added to the heated wok pan it will
ignite suddenly and you can sustain burns through
sprayed fat or oil.
5
Special information concerning the
induction wok
Electromagnetic fields are produced when using
induction cooking appliances. Comply therefore with
the following instructions:
Scientific investigations have indicated that no
influencing or endangering of patients with
implanted heart pacemakers is normally to be
anticipated through induction cooking appliances.
In spite of this, please consult a physician to put
your mind at rest.
However, you should maintain a distance of 30 cm
between the upper part of the body and the appli-
ance!
Electromagnetic fields can influence electronic
switching circuits and interfere with portable radio
receivers.
When using the appliance do not place magneti-
cally chargeable objects (e.g. credit cards, phone
cards, cassettes etc.) in the glass-ceramic
cuvette.
Do not place any metal objects (e.g. cutlery, metal
plates or dishes, food cans, jar lids etc.) in the
glass-ceramic cuvette as these can heat up during
operation under some circumstances.
During operation, objects worn by the user such
as rings, watches etc. can under certain circum-
stances become hot when held too close to the
glass-ceramic cuvette.
Safety when cleaning
For electrical safety reasons, cleaning the appli-
ance with a steam-jet, high-pressure or steam
cleaning device is forbidden.
How to avoid damage to the
appliance
The glass-ceramic cooking surface (cuvette) is not
susceptible to thermal shocks and is very strong,
though not unbreakable. It can suffer damage in
particular from sharp and hard objects falling on to
the glass-ceramic cooking surface (cuvette).
If sugar or a preparation with sugar should fall on
to the hot glass-ceramic cuvette and melts,
remove it at once using a wooden scraper. If the
mass is allowed to cool, the surface may be dam-
aged when attempts are made to remove it.
Keep all meltable objects and materials away from
the glass-ceramic cuvette (e.g. plastics, alumin-
ium foils or oven foils). If any of these should melt
on, they must be removed at once using a wooden
scraper.
Never operate the appliance with empty cooking
vessels. Avoid cooking with the wok pan empty.
This can damage the base of the wok pan and the
glass-ceramic cooking surface (cuvette).
2 Disposal
Disposal of packing material
All parts of the packing are recyclable, films and
hard foam parts are appropriately marked. Please
dispose of packing material and your worn-out
appliances in accordance with regulations.
Please comply with the national and regional reg-
ulations and the material marking (material sepa-
ration, refuse collection, resource recovery
centres).
Disposal information
The appliance is not to be disposed of with the
household refuse.
You can obtain information on collection times or
collecting centres from your local municipal clean-
ing authority or the local administration.
Warning! Before disposal please render old, worn
out appliances unusable. Remove the main con-
nector cable.

Appliance description
Function and mode of operation of the induction wok
Located under the glass-ceramic cuvette is a cop-
per wire induction coil. This produces electromag-
netic fields which act directly on the base of the
wok pan and heat it up. So with this system the
wok pan base is heated directly, and the glass-
ceramic does not have to be heated first, as with
other types of heating, thus saving time and
energy.
As the heat required for cooking is generated
directly in the base of the wok pan, the glass-
ceramic cuvette itself is hardly heated at all; it
receives only the reflected heat from the base of
the wok pan.
If no (rounded bottom) wok pan is standing on the
glass-ceramic cuvette, there in no energy transfer
(heating up). This guarantees safety against inad-
vertent switching on.
3
Integrated in the glass-ceramic induction wok
is a cooling fan which is automatically acti-
vated according to the appliance tempera-
ture.
Soft switching noises (clicks) can be heard;
these are due to the distribution of the power.
Some cooking vessels have a tendency to
produce operating noise. Likewise, “hum-
ming” can occur at high power levels. This
does not impair the function.

Before first use
Initial cleaning
Wipe the glass-ceramic cooking surface (cuvette)
with a damp cloth to remove any residues from the pro-
duction process.
1
Attention: Do not use sharp, abrasive clean-
ing agents. These could damage the surface.
Comply with the instructions in the chapter
"Cleaning and care".
Wash the accessories (wok pan, cover and drip rack)
thoroughly before first use.
3
All accessory parts are suitable for washing in
a dishwasher.
1
Attention: Do not use sharp, abrasive clean-
ing agents.
9
Operating the wok cooking surface
1
Never add fat or oil to an already heated wok
pan. Risk of burns from being splashed with
hot fat!
The wok pan heats up very quickly after being switched
on. Never heat up an empty wok pan; first add fat or oil
or other liquid to the wok pan and then switch the appli-
ance on.
As the heat storage capacity of the induction wok is
extremely low, the food to be cooked reacts immedi-
ately to changes in cooking level. This permits a much
more direct intervention into the cooking process, e.g.
in order to prevent overcooking by reducing the cooking
level. On the other hand greater attention must be paid
when cooking with the induction wok than with conven-
tional cooking.
1
Comply with the safety instructions!
1
Make sure an empty wok pan is never present
in a cuvette which is already switched on. It
overheats very quickly through the high power
of the cooking surface.
Switching on the control panel (Stand-by mode)
0 Activate the touch control ON/OFF (stand-by
switch).
The cooking surface is ready to operate.
The cooking level display indicates Level „0“.
Stand-by mode automatically switches off again if:
no other touch control is activated within 10 seconds
after switching on,
no touch control is activated again after switching off
the cuvette. The contact break-time for this is
10 seconds,
one or more touch controls are activated for longer
than 10 seconds.
10
Switching on the cooking surface
The induction cooking surface has 10 cooking levels
(„1“ to „9“ and Power-Level „P“).
0 Switch the cooking surface on by setting the
desired cooking level with the plus or minus
touch controls.
The number of the cooking level appears in
the display.
When the plus touch control is activated, the cooking
zone starts on level „1“.
Then the value of the cooking level can be set.
When the minus touch control is activated, the cooking
level starts at the maximum level (Power-Level „P“).
Then the value of the cooking level can be set.
Parboiling with the Power-Level
With the Power-Level „P“ you can sear or boil very
quickly at full power. After 10 minutes the induction
cooking surface switches automatically down to cook-
ing level „9“.
0 Select cooking level „9“ and then activate the
plus touch control once.
A „P“ is shown in display. The Power-Level is
activated.
Changing the cooking level
A brief activation of the minus or plus touch control
changes the cooking level by one unit.
A longer activation of the minus or plus touch control
reduces or increases the cooking level up to the corre-
sponding stop.
3
Parboil using the highest possible cooking level
and continue boiling at a lower level.
or
11
Switching off the cooking surface
Switch the cooking surface off by
0 simultaneous activation of the plus and minus
touch controls,
or
0 by activating the ON/OFF touch control.
The cooking level display disappears.
Pan detector
The induction cooking surface checks at short intervals
for the presence of a wok pan.
If no wok pan is standing in the switched-on cuvette,
the symbol appears in the display. Then the cooking
surface switches off automatically after 10 minutes.
The pan detector feature is for your safety and saves
energy because the cooking surface is immediately
deactivated when no wok pan is present.
1
Nevertheless, switch the cooking zone off after
use and you use not only the pan detector! For
example, an inadvertently placed wok pan (or
other magnetisable object such as a dish)
reactivates the cooking surface, which heats
up the empty wok pan.
The control panel lock (child-proof feature)
The control panel lock safeguards the appliance
against unauthorised or inadvertent use.
With control panel lock activated, a switched-off
appliance can only be placed to the standby mode.
If the control panel lock is activated during cooking,
the set cooking level cannot be changed.
0 The control panel lock is activated by touching
the control panel lock touch control for ca.
2 seconds.
An activated control panel lock is signalled by
a dot in the cooking level display.
0 The control panel lock is cancelled by touching
the control panel lock touch control again.
1
Attention: Switching off the cooking surface
does not cancel the lock!
12
Safety functions
No switching function takes place if two or more
touch controls are activated simultaneously (e.g.
through inadvertently placing a dish on the touch
controls). After 10 minutes the complete electronics
system is switched off.
Exception: Switching off the cooking zone touching
the plus and minus touch controls simultaneously.
If a touch control is activated again after reaching
the highest level, the complete electronics system is
switched off after 10 seconds.
If one or more touch controls are activated for longer
than 10 seconds, the complete electronics system is
switched off.
No automatic restart takes place after a power fail-
ure. The control panel lock is no longer active.
The cooking level is automatically switched down or
off if the electronics system overheats (see „If some-
thing should go wrong“ Page 16).
Frying with the wok
With its deep, rounded shape the wok is very suitable
for frying small quantities in a little fat or oil.
1
This induction cooking surface has – especially
at the Power-Level – very high power with a
fast reaction time. Watch the fat closely: it over-
heats very quickly. When it starts to smoke, it is
already too hot. Switch the cooking surface off
and leave the fat to cool.
3
A good method of estimating the frying temper-
ature is the wooden spoon test. Place the han-
dle of a wooden spoon in the hot fat. If small
bubbles rise, it is optimal for frying. If no bub-
bles are present, it is not yet hot enough.
Handling the wok
Exercise care when placing the wok pan in the
cuvette. With careless handling the grip can strike
the glass-ceramic surface and cause damage.
Do not shake the wok pan when it is in the cuvette.
This can scratch the glass-ceramic surface or it can
be damaged with the grip.
13
Using, tips
Methods of preparation in the wok
Stir frying
This is the most important method of cooking in Asi-
atic cuisine. The prepared ingredients cut into small
pieces are placed near the wok in small dishes,
together with the sauces and spices and are then
fried quickly in the heated oil at a high temperature
with constant stirring. When preparing a wok dish,
always commence with the ingredients which have
the longest cooking time.
This special cooking method is very healthy. Vegeta-
bles retain their characteristic flavours and colours,
remaining crisp and pieces of meat remain tender.
For stirring, Thais use special large chopsticks or
wooden spatulas.
Deep frying
The induction wok is very suitable for deep frying
because the temperature drop is very small and you
can cook with very little oil. The constant temperature
is important in order that the fried food does not
absorb too much fat. Through frying, meat, fish, pota-
toes, vegetables etc. acquire a uniform colour and
crust and with it, the typical flavour. Use only fats suit-
able for frying.
Poaching
The induction wok is very appropriate for this
extremely careful method of cooking. As the neces-
sary heat transfer is guaranteed, creams, Sabayon,
butter sauces, biscuit or parfait mixes can be stirred
at 65 °C to 80 °C without a bain-marie. The rounded
shape of the wok is extremely beneficial for this.
Boiling/simmering
Boiling: Cooking up to the boiling point (bubbling),
e.g. spaghetti.
Simmering: Cooking just below the boiling point (not
bubbling), e.g. boiled meat.
Stewing
Stewing is cooking with the smallest possible amount
of added liquid.
Lightly heat the fat, add the vegetables, fruit or meat,
perhaps with a little liquid, cover and steam until the
produce is soft or tender with a low heat. This is the
best method of cooking for conserving the produce’s
own aromas.
Steaming
By using a steaming basket (bamboo basket) you can
cook vegetables, meat, fish and cereal products in
hot steam. The steaming basket with its cover is
placed over the boiling water. This is an extremely
gentle and healthy cooking method, in which the pro-
duce is less leached out, not moved around and
therefore remains visually more attractive.
14
Information on the use of fats
If fats and oils are used the correct temperature is of
vital importance. Heating should not be too great for
health reasons, since this could produce substances
injurious to health, e.g. acryl amine.
With the correct temperature setting the valuable con-
stituents of the oils and fats are largely retained.
The fat temperature is the maximum temperature
which can be reached before the fat or oil begins to
smoke.
If the smoke point is exceeded, the fats and oils
burn, are modified and become useless; the smoke
point should not be exceeded.
Power values
The following table shows you the power values
according to the set cooking level.

Cleaning and care
Advantages of cleaning and care
with the induction wok
2
The induction wok requires less cleaning
effort than conventional cooking equipment.
As the induction wok reacts more quickly to being
switched down or off, the overcooking of food can
be largely avoided.
As temperatures at the glass-ceramic surface are
significantly lower than with traditional cooking
systems, food which gets on to the glass-ceramic
surface does not bake-on as hard.
Glass-ceramic cuvette
1
It is important to clean the glass-ceramic
cuvette after each use.
1
Attention: Never use abrasive cleaning
agents, such as scouring powder or scouring
pads.
Normal cleaning
Always clean the glass-ceramic cuvette when it is
lightly soiled. Use a damp cloth and a little hand
detergent. Afterwards wipe the glass-ceramic cuvette
dry with a clean cloth. No detergent residues must
remain on the surface.
Occasionally the glass-ceramic cuvette should be
cleaned thoroughly. For this use a commercially avail-
able glass-ceramic cleaning agent. Afterwards wash
the glass-ceramic cuvette thoroughly with clean water
and dry it with a clean cloth. No detergent residues
must remain on the surface, as these can damage
the glass-ceramic.
Boiled-over food
First soften the boiled-over food with a damp cloth
and remove the residues with a wooden scraper and
a non-abrasive sponge (Teflon sponge). Afterwards
clean the glass-ceramic cuvette in the normal way.
Baked-on sugar, melted plastics must be removed
immediately, whilst still hot using a wooden scraper,
or the surface of the glass-ceramic cuvette can be
damaged. Clean the glass-ceramic cuvette in the nor-
mal way after it has cooled.
Stains, marks
Lime marks (caused by water boiling over), stains
with a pearly shine and any discolouring with a metal-
lic shimmer must be removed using a commercially
available glass-ceramic cleaning agent. No detergent
residues must remain on the surface, as these can
damage the glass-ceramic.
Wok pan
1
Attention: Never use abrasive cleaning
agents, such as scouring powder or scouring
pads.
Rinse out the wok pan thoroughly after each use.
Soften any baked-on food residues beforehand with
hot water. Then dry the pan off thoroughly and store
in a dry location. The wok pan is suitable for washing
in a dishwasher.
16
If something should go wrong
3
Integrated in the induction wok is a cooling
fan which switches in automatically depend-
ing on the appliance temperature. The cool-
ing fan sometimes continues to run for some
time after switching off the cooking zone.
If the temperature in the appliance exceeds a certain
value, in spite of the cooling fan being activated, the
appliance power is automatically reduced. Then the
induction wok will be heard to operate non-uniformly.
1
Repairs are only to be carried out by a certi-
fied expert.
You can rectify some faults yourself. First check
whether the problem is due to an operating error.
Repairs carried out during the warranty period are not
free of charge when the problem is due to an operat-
ing error or failure to comply with one of the following
instructions.
What to do, if...
... one or more touch controls do not react to
being activated?
Possible cause: The touch control sensitivity con-
stantly adapts itself to the ambient conditions.
Through unfavourable conditions, i.e. if you lean
against them for some time, it can be a few minutes
before the touch controls react again.
Wait ca. 15 min. or trip and then reset the circuit
breaker. Where necessary, repeat this action!
The touch controls have readjusted themselves and
once again react to being activated.
... even after twice tripping and resetting the cir-
cuit breaker, one or more touch controls are not
reacting to being activated?
Possible cause: Touch control or component faulty.
Only if the touch controls do not react after twice trip-
ping and resetting the circuit breaker, please trip the
circuit breaker again and notify the customer support
service.

Air inlet and outlet
As optimal air circulation is indispensable for the fault-
free operation of the induction wok, compliance with
the following points is imperative (see also the adja-
cent drawing).
The temperature of the inlet air must be below
30 °C.
The appliance is to be installed to guarantee a
strict air separation between the inlet and outlet
air, i.e. to prevent the outlet air from mixing directly
with the inlet air.
The induction wok is not to extract heated or
grease-laden air directly from other appliances
(oven etc.).
The induction wok is not to be installed above an
oven or other heat dissipating appliance mounted
in a base unit.
For the outlet air, there must be a gap of at least
5 mm wide below the working surface, extending
over the whole width of the base unit. This pro-
vides an outlet air aperture of at least 20 cm
2
.
The door of the base unit must be held open by a
stop buffer, so as to guarantee a gap all round of
at least 3 mm for the air inlet.
The air inlet aperture in the false bottom must not
be blocked by objects placed in the base unit.
The strict separation between inlet and outlet air
must also be observed when installing in a
“island" type cooking area!
