STEP BY STEP GUIDE
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Fixture cannot be used with a dimmer switch.
• This fixture is designed for indoor use ONLY
and should not be used in areas with limited
ventilation or high ambient temperatures.
• Fixture must be connected to a nominal 120Volt,
60 Hz power source. Any other connection
voids warranty.
• Always use the same wattage and type of lamp
included or specified for the fixture. Failure to do
so will void warranty.
• This fixture is intended to be connected to a
properly installed and grounded UL listed
junction box (not provided) and should be
installed according to NEC and local building
codes.
WARNING: RISK OF SHOCK
Electric current can cause painful shock or
serious injury unless handled properly. For your
safety, always:
• Turn off electrical power at fuse or circuit breaker
box before wiring fixture tothe power supply.
• Turn off the power when you change lamps or
perform other maintenance.
• Ground the fixture to avoid potential electric
shocks and to ensure reliable starting.
• Double-check all connections to be sure they
are tight and correct.
This fixture is designed for use in a circuit protected
by a fuse or circuit breaker and to be installed in
accordance with national and local electrical codes.
If you are unsure about your wiring, consult a quali-
fied electrician or local electrical inspector, and
check your local electrical code.
WARNING: RISK OF INJURY
• Some metal parts in the fixture may have sharp
edges. To prevent cuts and scrapes, wear
gloves when handling the parts.
• Account for small parts and destroy packing
material, as these may be hazardous to
children.
CAUTION: RISK OF FIRE
Minimum 90° C supply conductors.
1. Remove fixture components and parts pack(s).
Check that all parts are included. See Page 1,
Fig. 1. Remove protective film on fixture ends.
Warning: Safely dispose of packaging materials.
Note: Turn off power in circuit breaker box!
2. Slide Diffuser (4) toward one end of the
fixture, making sure end of Diffuser isunder
Diffuser spacer. See Fig. 1.
3. Lift Diffuser out of fixture from opposite end.
See Fig. 1.
WARNING: Before wiring fixture to the power
supply, turn off electricity at fuse or circuit
breaker box. Fixture must be grounded to avoid
potential electrical shock and to ensure reliable
lamp starting.
Note:
This fixture is designed to be surface mounted
on ceiling drywall centered over junction box.
4. Remove center 7/8” knockout by placing
straight blade screwdriver on edge of knockout
and strike with hammer. (Always wear safety
glasses when hammering). Remove slug by
flexing back and forth with pliers. Position
fixture with 7/8” hole diameter over junction box
and Mark location of 7/32” mounting holes.
See Fig. 2.
5. Drill 1/8” diameter pilot holes where previously
marked.
If drill encounters ceiling joist, hold fixture up to
outlet box and pull electrical supply wires into
fixture through the knockout hole, use wood
screw at each end of the fixture body to secure to
ceiling joist. See Fig. 3.
If drill does not encounter ceiling joist, enlarge
hold in ceiling to accommodate toggle bolt. Hold
fixture up to outlet box and pull electrical supply
wires into the fixture through the knockout hole,
insert and tighten toggle bolts. See Fig. 3.
WARNING: RISK OF FIRE
If supply wires are located within three inches of
ballast, wire must be suitable for at least 90°C
(194°F). Consult a qualified electrician before
installing.
6. Ground fixture as follows. Secure the green or
bare copper ground wire from the outlet box
under the green screw. If house wiring includes
no ground wire, consult electrician. See Fig. 4.
7. Connect white fixture wire to white power
supply wire withwirenut. Connect black fixture
wire(s) to black power supply wire with wirenut.
See Fig. 4.
For proper connection, place wirenut over wires,
twist clockwise until tight. Push wirenuts and
excess wiring into junction box.
8. Angle lamp into fixture then install one end
of lamp into socket. Guide other end of lamp
into opposite socket. Rotate lamp 1/4 turn in
either direction until seated.
9. Turn on electricity at fuse or circuit breaker
box and verify success of installation.
10. Install Diffuser by inserting one end into end
plate over diffuser spacer, lift opposite end into
fixture and shift into position. See Fig. 5.
