Topfield TRF-2400 is a high-definition digital terrestrial receiver and personal video recorder that allows you to watch, record, and pause live TV, and play back recorded programs. It features a built-in hard drive for storing recordings, and can connect to an external hard drive via eSATA for additional storage. The TRF-2400 also has a built-in media player that can play back videos, music, and photos from a USB drive or eSATA-connected hard drive. Choose a setup that matches the connection ports on your TV. We recommend using
the HDMI connection for the highest quality HD picture. For a higher quality use the
component connection. For a basic connection to your television use the composite
connection.
Connecting your TV
Front Panel
button switches the digital receiver between standby mode and active mode.
Front display shows the current time in standby mode, and displays the current ser-
vice in active mode.
MENU button displays the main menu. It is also used to return to the previous menu
from a submenu.
OK button displays the services list. It is also used to select a menu item.
CHANNEL
, buttons switch to the previous or next ser vice.
VOLUME
, buttons decrease or increase the volume.You have to insert your sub-
scription card into the front slot to watch pay services.
There is a USB port on the front panel for rmware update
and data transfer. (USB 2.0 Host 5 V DC, 500 mA)
NOTE
We recommend you to use a separate power supply for the external hard drive.

Since this model features PORTAL and Analogue Input, the button won’t direct to the
PORTAL menu. PORTAL section is accessible via menu screen.

First Time Installation Default Pin: ‘0000’
1 After having connected the appropriate cables from the Digital Receiver to your TV,
make sure the power cord of the Digital Receiver is plugged into a wall socket and
turn Toppro unit ON using the switch on the back of the unit.
2 Check that your TV set is tur ned on.
3 Check that your TV set is on the correct video channel so that you can see the Menu
from the Digital Receiver. (ie. AV1. AV2. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc)
4 Insert the batteries into t he remote control.
5 Press the
button on the remote control or the Circular button on the front face
of the unit to turn the Digital Receiver on.
6 The main menu will appear on your screen.
Now it’s time to scan your channels, using
your remote highlight Installation.
7 Now highlight Searching and press OK but-
ton.
8 Make sure Search Mode is set to Auto then
move down to Start Search and press
OK but-
ton.

9 Once all the channels have been searched you
will be told how many channels have been
found. Press
OK button and then EXIT but-
ton.
NOTE
The free to air EPG (Electronic Program Guide) guide does not automatically
populate. To populate t he EPG guide on every channel you must visit each ser-
vice/channel at least once a week forafew minutes or until the guide has fully
populated for the full seven days. EPG updates can also occur while you are watch-
ing TV and jumping from channel to channel.
Recording and Playback
Instant recording
1 Press the button on the live screen to start
recording.
2 When recording has started, press the
again to set the recording duration as shown
in the left gure.
3 While recording, you can watch or record
another service. To record another service,
switch to the service and press the
.
Duration: Set the desired recording duration with the and buttons and
press the
OK button; the recording will end at the specied time.
After this program: If the information about the next programme is provided
by the electronic programme guide, the current recording will stop at the time
when the current programme is scheduled to end.
After next program: The current recording will stop at the time when the next
programme is scheduled to end.

To stop recording, press the button; then a
box like the left gure appears, which shows
the programmes currently being recorded. Se-
lect recording by using navigation buttons then
press
OK button to stop the recording.
Playback
MENU > Recording > Recorded Program (or ) > OK > Play
1 Selectadesired recording and press the OK
button.
2 To play from beginning, set the Starting Po-
sition option to Beginning; to play from the
point that you have stopped at the last time,
set it to Continuing.
3 Select the Play to start playback.
NOTE
This recorder can record four channels simultaneously, however, this is controlled
by the channel frequency. Each channel has other programmes under the one fre-
quency (E.g. Channel Nine has 9, 9HD, GO, GEM) (Channel ABC has ABC News 24,
ABC1, ABC2, ABC3, etc.). This recorder can record two programmes on each chan-
nel frequency simutaneously. (E.g. 10.TEN Digital plus 11.One HD and 90.GEM
plus 99.Go!) Whilst recording the above combination of programmes you can also
playback a pre-recorded show.
Home Media Share
You can share your media contents with other media-share devices, for example, a
DivX player, across the same home network. You can play back media contents of the
digital receiver on the DivX player, or vice versa. There are pre-conditions to enjoy
this feature;
Connect the Toppro receiver to the same home network of other media devices
through a wired or wireless router.

Configure the network setting on the Toppro receiver in Installation > Network
Setting > IP Setting. For a wired connection, we recommend you to assign a
dynamic IP address by the router (DHCP).
Designating share files on the receiver
MENU > Entertainment > Home Media
Go to File Manager > My HardDisk > Share Set-
ting menu and set the folders you want to share
to Share. The other network devices will only
access those folders you set to be shared. You
can also check the server name of your receiver
at the DMS Name option. The name, [HomeMe-
dia]Topfield PVR is used as an identifier for other
networked devices when they access media con-
tents on the receiver. If you want to change the
name, press the
OK button on the name.
Playing other devices’ contents on the receiver
1 Select the Share Device List menu, then select
a device which has media contents you want
to play.
2 Select a media file you want to play, then press
the
OK , then the receiver will pull and play
the selection if the file format is supported.
NOTE
Some digital media servers (DMS) may not
work with this receiver.
If you want to make any other networked device play your selection, press the
F4 button instead of the
OK button, then select a device you want to use as a
player.
If you want to copy your selection to the digital receiver, press the
F3 button in-
stead of the
OK button, then the selected media file gets copied into the digital
receiver’s hard drive.
