CAUTION! Alcohol-blendedfuels (calledgasohol, ethanol or

formation of acids during storage. Acidic gascandamagethe
fuel system of an enginewhile in storage.
To avoid engine problems, the fuel system should betreated
with a fuel preserveror emptied before storage of 30 days or
longer, if adding afuel preserver, fill the fuel tank with fresh
fuel. if only partially filed, air in the tank will promote fuel
deterioration during storage, if fuel preserver is not used,
drain the fuel tank, start the engine and let it run until the fuel
linesand carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel nextseason.
See Storagefor additional information.
NEVERuse engine or carburetor cleaner products in the fuel
tank as permanent damagemay occur.
At altitudes over 5,000ft. (1524 m), a minimum 85 octane/
85 AKI (89 RON)gasolineis acceptable.To remain emissions
compliant, high altitude adjustment is required.Operation
without this adjustment will cause decreasedperformance,
increasedfuel consumption, and increasedemissions.See a
qualifiedSearsdealerfor high altitude adjustment information.
Operationof the engine at altitudesbelow 2,500 ft. (762 m)
with the high altitude kit is not recommended.
FreshStart® Fuel Cap
The FreshStart® fuel cap (A) is designedto hold a
cartridge (B) which contains fuel preserver,Adding fuel
preserver helps keepfuel fresh and carburetors cleanfor
easierstarting all season long. The FreshStart@fuel cap, if
equipped with a cartridge, automatically drips concentrated
fuel preserverinto your fuel tank so you don't haveto add it
yourself.
NOTICE Purchasea FreshStart@fuel preserver cartridge,

Lubricate O-Rings
Lubrication of o-rings is extremely important for installation
and operation. The useof a lubricant (petroleum or synthetic
grease)during assembly helpsseat o-rings properly and
provides an improved seal. it also helps protect the o-ring
from damageby abrasion, pinching or cutting and extends
the life of the o-ring.
NOTICE ALWAYSapplya small amount of lubricant on
o-rings prior to assemblingthe garden hoseto the pump
(C), high pressure hose(D), spray gun (E),and nozzle
extension(F).
Lul_rieateaimeenneetiens shewn beiew, feiiewing these
instruetiens:
1. inspect and cleanconnecting surfaces prior to
lubrication and assembly.
2. Uselubricants sparingly during assembly;a light film is
all that is required.
3. Usea small brush or cotton swab to apply grease
directly to o-rings wherethey are not accessible(QC
fitting, M22 fitting).

Power Ratings
Thegross power rating for individual gasoline engine
models is labeled in accordancewith SAE(Society of
Automotive Engineers)codeJ1940 Small EnginePower
& Torque Rating Procedure, and is rated in accordance
with SAEJ1995. Torquevalues are derived at 2600 RPM
for those engineswith "rpm" calledout on the labeland
3060 RPM for all others; horsepower values arederivedat
3600 RPM.The gross power curves canbe viewed at www.
BRIGGSandSTRATTON.COM.Net powervalues are taken
with exhaust and air cleanerinstalled whereas gross power
values are collectedwithout these attachments.Actual
gross engine power will be higher than net engine power
and is affected by, among other things, ambient operating
conditions and engine-to-enginevariability. Giventhe wide
array of products on which enginesare placed, the gasoline
engine may not developthe ratedgross powerwhen used in
a given pieceof power equipment. This difference is dueto a
variety of factors including, but not limited to. the variety of
engine components (air cleaner, exhaust, charging, cooling,
carburetor, fuel pump, etc.), application imitations, ambient
operating conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude), and
engine-to engine variability. Dueto manufacturing and
capacity limitations, Briggs & Stratton may substitute an
engine of higher ratedpower for this engine.
