Dension User Interface
Turn on the radio, and select CD
Changer as source. A warning
message and the “OK to Dis-
connect” message will appear
which means you can discon-
nect the iPod any time. The iPod
will start playing the previously
played song.
During playback the Track# and
Elapsed Time data is transferred
to the radio display, while the
song information (Album,
Artist, Title) and playback status
appears on the iPod screen.
Note:
Track number on the radio is limited to 2 digits; the iPod track
number is always truncated as such.
If your car radio supports repeat, random and scan, you may select/
deselect Repeat, Random and Scan functions. Mode indicators are
also shown on iPod display as follows:
Repeat iPod is set to repeat mode
Repeat One iPod is set to repeat one mode
Shu e iPod is set to shu e mode
Scan iPod plays 10 sec of a song, than
skip to the next one.
Press Prev track key to
revert to normal play.
If car radio does not support above features, use the iPod to set
random or repeat mode, before you connect it to the Gateway
500. Changing modes on iPod while not connected to the Gateway
500 may not be recognized automatically by the head unit.
Direct playlist access
For faster selection of music in the Dension User Interface, the rst
four playlists (in alphabetical order) may be activated directly by
selecting Disc#1-4. (Hint: Pre x your playlists with numbers to get
them associated with the desired direct access button, e.g. 1Rock,
2Pop, 3Classic, etc.)
After connecting the iPod to Gateway 500, it will continue playing
the actual play program, and the disc number will be #5. Because
of this, if you would like to listen to all the titles from your iPod,
choose any other Playlist and then choose Disc#5 (Play all) again.
When using more than 4 playlists, please use the playlist browser
function in the Gateway 500 Menu. You can also choose an album
or artist using the browser in the Menu.

The Gateway 500 Menu gives you a comprehensive feature set in

functions from the head unit:
