Introduction
The ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for NinjaOne is a Remote Management and Monitoring (RMM) tool
that enables you to deploy ESET endpoint protection software to your Windows, macOS and Linux workstations
and servers. ESET endpoint protection software will collect logs about your workstations and the server's security
statuses when deployed.
Integrating with ESET endpoint products
The ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for NinjaOne deploys and manages your endpoints without
needing additional servers or an intermediary console. ESET Direct Endpoint Management establishes a
connection between ESET endpoint products and NinjaOne.
Tasks
The ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for NinjaOne automatically schedules scans and updates for your
ESET endpoint products, and also enables you to perform on-demand scans and off-schedule updates. You can
change the configuration of your endpoint products, activate and deactivate your licenses and uninstall your
endpoint products, all from the NinjaOne console.
Before you begin
Set up the ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for NinjaOne according to the instructions on the customer's
NinjaOne account. Verify that you have already set up and deployed NinjaOne to your endpoints. Also verify that
you can log in to NinjaOne with administrator privileges and that endpoint users receive notifications from your
organization.
System Requirements
Products supported
The ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for NinjaOne works without a remote management server.
Currently, NinjaOne supports the following ESET products:
Windows:
ESET Endpoint Antivirus (EEA) version 7.3, 8.1 and later
ESET Endpoint Security (EES) version 7.3, 8.1 and later
ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (EFSW) version 7.3 and later
ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server (EMSX) version 7.3 and later
macOS:
ESET Endpoint Antivirus (EEA) for macOS version 6.11 and later
2
ESET Endpoint Security (EES) for macOS version 6.10 and later
Linux:
ESET Endpoint Antivirus (EEA) for Linux version 8.1 and later
ESET Server Security (ESS) for Linux version 8.1 and later
For ESET endpoint System Requirements, refer to the System Requirements for Windows (EEA, EES), macOS (EEA,
EES) and Linux (EEA, ESS).
.NET Framework version 4.0.3 required
All Windows endpoints must have a minimum of .NET Framework version 4.0.3 installed for the ESET DEM plugin
for NinjaOne components to function properly.
eRMM program
The ESET DEM plugin for NinjaOne components rely on a companion program, eRMM, that is automatically
downloaded to endpoints when an ESET-specific automation policy has been run on each endpoint. This software
is auto-updating and only requires a working internet connection. The eRMM software communicates between
ESET products and NinjaOne.
Read the eRMM End User License Agreement.

Integrating and using the Windows plugin
This section includes the following topics:
Create an ESET category for Windows
3
Import an ESET script for Windows
On-demand scripts for Windows
Monitoring for Windows
Create an ESET category for Windows
Create an ESET category to store your Windows scripts.
1. In the NinjaOne console, click Administration > Library > Scripting.
2. Click Categories > Create New Category.
3. In the Name field, type ESET—Windows and click Save.
The new category ESET—Windows appears in the Categories window.
Import an ESET script for Windows
To import an ESET script for Windows:
1. In the NinjaOne console, click Administration > Library > Scripting.
2. In the Scripts section, click Import New Script > From my computer.
4
3. In the next window, navigate to the folder containing the PowerShell script for Windows. Select the script
file and click Open.
4. When the script editor window appears, type a script Name, Description, and select ESET—Windows from
the Category drop-down menu. Use the default settings for Language (PowerShell), Operating System
(Windows) and Architecture (All).
5. Add your desired Parameters for the script. The following Windows parameters are available: INSTALL,
UNINSTALL, ACTIVATE, DEACTIVATE, SCAN, UPDATE, UPGRADE and CONFIGURE.
5
6. When done, click Save.
Note
Two-Factor Authentication may be required to save changes.
On-demand scripts for Windows
On-demand scripts can be applied per device and include the following:
Install with activate—Install and activate a supported ESET product. To directly activate the ESET product,
you must specify the product's License Key (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) or use the ESET Business Account
(EBA)/ESET MSP Administrator 2 (EMA2) credentials (login and password) along with the public license ID.
Note
To use the second option, we recommend creating many installation packages to account for each
product and company, which should be separate.
Uninstall—Remove the ESET product currently running on a specific endpoint and set up automatic
notifications to the administrator for every uninstall that processes.
Activate—Activate a supported ESET product. The available activation methods are the same as those for
the Install On-demand script.
Deactivate—Deactivate the ESET product currently running on a specific endpoint and set up automatic
notifications to the administrator for every deactivation that processes.
Scan—Initiate an On-demand scan. You can scan all files and folders using the Smart Scan profile or specify
the exact files and folders to scan.
6
Update—Perform a modules update.
Upgrade—Download and install the latest version of your ESET security product. If the product was
activated before upgrading, it remains activated after the upgrade. You will need to specify the product ESET
Endpoint Antivirus (EEA), ESET Endpoint Security (EES), ESET File Security for Windows Server (EFSW) and
ESET Mail Security for Exchange Server (EMSX).
Configure—Configure your ESET product's settings. To set up this On-demand script, you must create a
configuration file by exporting the setting from a properly configured endpoint or the configuration engine.
When this script is set up, you can configure each endpoint with your desired settings.
