b) Rechargeable batteries
The rechargeable battery is built into the product and cannot be replaced.
Never attempt to damage the rechargeable battery. Damaging the casing of the
rechargeable battery may cause it to explode or catch re! Unlike conventional
batteries (e.g. AA or AAA batteries), the casing of the LiPo rechargeable battery is
made of a sensitive plastic lm.
Never short-circuit the contacts of the rechargeable battery. Do not throw the
battery or the product into open ames. This may cause a re or explosion!
Charge the rechargeable battery regularly, even when you are not using the
product. You do not need to discharge the rechargeable battery before recharging
it.
Never charge the battery when the product is unattended.

Operation
a) Charging the rechargeable battery
The battery needs to be charged for approximately 4 hours before rst use. Subsequent
charges usually take about 2 hours.
Connect the device to a USB port with an output current of least 500 mA. This can be either
a USB power adapter or a USB port on your computer.
The status indicator (3) will turn green when the battery is charging. It will turn off again when
the battery is fully charged. The status indicator (3) will turn red when the battery is empty.
b) Turning on and off
To turn the device on and off, move the on/off switch to the corresponding position.
We recommend that you place the GPS logger outside for approximately 15–20 minutes
before rst use to ensure that it detects all GPS satellites. This is indicated by the status
indicator (4).
Status indicator (4):
- Constant blue = Position not detected
- Flashing blue (slow) = Position detected
- Flashing blue (fast) = Location information is being recorded
c) Installing the software / USB driver
Insert the software CD into the CD drive.
Run the software installer and follow the onscreen instructions.
Once you have installed the software, insert the device into a USB port and turn it on using
the on/off switch (1). The GPS data logger will be recognised by the operating system.
Launch the software.
Refer to the manual on the CD for detailed instructions on how to install and use the software.
d) Recording data / data tag
Switch on the device using the on/off switch (1).
We recommend that you place the GPS logger outside for approximately 15–20 minutes
before rst use to ensure that it detects all GPS satellites. This is indicated by the GPS status
indicator (4) (see "b) Turning on and off").
Press and hold the data tag button (2) for a few seconds to locate your position. The blue
status LED (4) will start to ash quickly.
Signal reception may be impaired by obstacles such as buildings, tunnels and
trees. Other sources of interference can also affect performance (e.g. if the device
is connected to a computer when it is attempting to locate your position for the rst
time). For best results, allow the device to obtain your position before connecting it
to a computer.
Care and cleaning
Always disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning it.
Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these may
damage the casing or cause the product to malfunction.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.

Intended use
This USB GPS data logger features a GPS receiver with an SIRF-4 chipset. It is designed
to track your location and can record up to 256,000 values. The GPS receiver is tted with a
built-in (non-removable) lithium polymer battery. This allows you to use the device without an
external power supply. The GPS receiver can be connected to a computer via a USB port to
read data and charge the battery. It also comes with a software CD that enables you to display
information graphically and analyse positioning data.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the
product for purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition,
improper use can cause hazards such as a short circuit, re or electric shock. Read the
instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product available to third parties
only together with its operating instructions.
