Preface
Purpose
This setup guide describes the installation procedure, precautions on usage, and
information for Infrastructure Manager SV Plug-in for Microsoft Cluster-Aware
Updating (hereafter referred to as "ISM SV Plug-in for CAU").
ISM Plug-in for CAU is plug-in software that extends the features of Cluster-Aware
Updating (hereafter referred to as "CAU") for Microsoft. This plug-in enables you to
easily update the firmware of each server configuring the cluster.
The ISM plug-ins and virtualization management software described in this guide are
displayed below.

1. ISM SV Plug-in for CAU 1.0.0
1.1 Product Summary
ISM SV Plug-in for CAU uses the CAU feature to efficiently update the firmware on
each Fujitsu server configuring the cluster.
1.2 Contents
This product is provided in a zip file (IsmSVPluginforMSCAU_v1.0.0.zip), and it is
composed of the following four files and directory when decompressed:

1.4 Installation Procedures
Install ISM SV Plug-in in the SMB shared folder.
This section explains the installation procedures for ISM SV Plug-in into CAU.
1.4.1 Installation Preparation
Install ISM SV Plug-in in the SMB shared folder.

The following items and setup must be completed before the installation.
⚫ Verify the servers configuring the Failover Cluster.
⚫ Verify that the SMB shared folder is set up.
For information about setting up the SMB shared folder, refer to the Microsoft
website.

⚫ Click [Failover Cluster Manager] to start it.
Connect to the cluster and click [Validate Configuration].
Select [Run all tests (recommended)] and click [Next] to start running the tests for
validation.
Verify that all the test results are successful. (warnings can be ignored)
⚫ After verifying the status of the validation page, click [Cluster-Aware Updating] to
start it.
Click [Analyze cluster updating readiness], and verify that the results are all
successful.
1.4.2 Store the Install File
Use Remote Desktop with an administrator account to connect to the Windows Server
in which the SMB shared folder is set up.
Transfer the install file to any directory on the Windows Server of the connection
destination by copying and pasting the file.
Unzip the zip file, and store the three files and directory in the SMB shared folder.

Copy the Powershell script from any server configuring the cluster to the SMB shared
folder.
The file path of the Powershell script for updating firmware:
C:\Program Files\Fujitsu\ServerView Suite\Agents\Server Control\UpdateAll.ps1

1.4.3 Editing the HotfixPlugin Config File
1. Use Remote Desktop with an administrator account to connect to the Windows
Server on which the SMB shared folder is set up.
2. On the server that has the SMB shared folder, open FujitsuIsmSvHotfixConfig.xml
with text editor to edit the file.
3. Change the proxy and connection information required to download the firmware
from the repository from the contents of sample file.
Replace and save the values of the attributes path and parameters of the
destination <Folder name = "FujitsuIsmSv">.
If you do not specify a local repository (RepositoryServer option), Fujitsu's global
repository is used by default.

1.4.4 Modify Updating Run Profile of HotfixPlugin
1. Use Remote Desktop to connect with a cluster-specific domain user account to the
Windows Server Cluster.
2. Start [Cluster-Aware Updating].
3. Click [Create or modify Updating Run Profile], and start [Updating Run Profile
Editor].
4. Click [Browse] from [Updating Run profile to start from], select
parameters_FujitsuIsmSvHotfixPlugin.xml in the SMB shared folder, and click the
[Open] button.
5. Change [HotfixRootFolderPath] for [CauPluginArguments] in [Option] to the SMB
shared folder.
Example: If the SMB shared folder is \\FujitsuServer\IsmSvCau
[Before modification] HotfixRootFolderPath=\\MyFileServer\FolderName
[After modification] HotfixRootFolderPath=\\FujitsuServer\IsmSvCau
6. Click the [Save File As] button, specify parameters_FujitsuIsmSvHotfixPlugin.xml
as the file name, and click the [Save] button.

7. When the [Filename already exists. Do you want to replace it?] message is
displayed, click the [Yes] button.
8. Click the [Close] button to close [Updating Run Profile Editor].
1.5 Execution Schedule of HotfixPlugin and Optional
Configuration
Specify the self-update schedule for firmware updates and advanced cluster self-update
options.
1.5.1 Specify a Self-Updating Schedule for the HotfixPlugin to Run
1. Display the list of clusters from the pull-down under [Connect to a Failover Cluster]
in [Cluster-Aware Updating].
2. Select the cluster and click the [connect] button to connect to the specified cluster.
3. Click [Configure cluster self-updating options], and click the [Next] button in the
[Configure Self-Updating Options Wizard].
4. Select [Add the CAU clustered role, with self-updating mode enabled, to this cluster],
and click the [Next] button.
5. Specify the self-updating schedule.
Select [frequency of self-updating], and set the required items for each [frequency of
self-updating].
Items: Starting/Time of days/Day of the week/Occurrence of the day in the month
Note
It is also necessary to set a schedule for firmware updates that are performed
manually that do not use a schedule for updates.
In this case, specify a date and time (Example: 100 years in the future) so that the
start date will not actually start.
To perform a manual firmware update, click [Apply updates to this cluster] from
[Cluster-Aware Updating].
6. Click the [Browse] button under [Updating Run options based on].

Select parameters_FujitsuIsmSvHotfixPlugin.xml from the SMB shared folder and
click the [Open] button.
Review each update option displayed in [Changes to make this update run only],
and click the [Next] button.
7. Type the SMB shared folder path in [Hotfix root folder path].
Example:\\FujitsuServer\IsmSvCau
When you enter the "Hotfix root folder path," the "Hotfix configuration file path" is
also set automatically.
Example:\\FujitsuServer\IsmSvCau\FujitsuIsmSvHotfixConfig.xml
8. Select [Require SMB Encryption in accessing the hotfix root folder] in [SMB
Encryption] and [Disable check for administrator access to the hotfix root folder
and configuration file] in [Access check] and click the [Next] button.
9. Confirm the selection, click the [Apply] button, confirm that [Configure self-
updating options] and [Enable self-updating mode] are successful, and click the
[Close] button.
1.5.2 Review the Results for HotfixPlugin
1. Display the list of clusters from the pull-down under [Connect to a Failover Cluster]
in [Cluster-Aware Updating].
2. Select the cluster and click the [connect] button to connect to the specified cluster.
3. Verify the [Last Run State] under [cluster node] in [Cluster-Aware Updating] for
each node. The statuses are as follows, and after execution completes, the status is
displayed as either success or failure.

You can also view the results by clicking [Create a report of past update runs] under
[Cluster-Aware Updating] to generate an Update Execution Report.
4. If the result is "Failed," refer to the following log of the failed node for a description
of the error.

If the above log is not updated, review the following information that was changed
in "1.4.3 Editing the HotfixPlugin Config File."

the local repository
Note
⚫ When running the HotfixPlugin, the firmware update is performed, and each
node may be automatically rebooted and RemoteDesktop may be disconnected.
If the RemoteDesktop session is disconnected, verify that the node has finished
rebooting, and then reconnect using RemoteDesktop.
⚫ When running the HotfixPlugin, updating the network/video driver may cause
the RemoteDesktop to disconnect.
If disconnected, reconnect with RemoteDesktop after the firmware update is
complete.
1.6 Manually Run the HotfixPlugin
Manually run the HotfixPlugin for CAU to immediately perform firmware updates on
each node of the cluster.
1.6.1 Run the HotfixPlugin
1. Start [Cluster-Aware Updating] and click [Apply updates to this cluster].
2. Click the [Next] button under [Cluster-Aware Updating Wizard].
3. Click [Review the updates that apply to the cluster node.] to display [Preview
updates].
Verify that UpdateAll.ps1 appears in the [Update Program ID] and [Update Title]
columns for each node.
Click [Close] to close [Preview updates].
4. Click the [Update] button under [Cluster-Aware Updating Wizard].
Clicking the [Update] button will execute the HotfixPlugin and initiate the
firmware update on each node of the cluster.

Under [Scheduling Immediate Updates in Run Update Mode], the message
[Starting execution of self update in background] appears.
Confirm that [Success] is displayed, then click the [Close] button.
5. Verify the [Last Run State] under [cluster node] in [Cluster-Aware Updating] for
each node. The statuses are as follows, and after execution completes, the status is
displayed as either success or failure:

1.7 Uninstall
Uninstallation procedures of ISM SV Plug-in for CAU are below.
1.7.1 Disable the Self-Updating Option
1. Select the cluster and click the [connect] button from [Cluster-Aware Updating] to
connect the specified cluster.
2. Start [Cluster-Aware Updating], and click [configure the cluster self-updating
options].
3. Click the [Next] button in the [Configure Cluster self-updating options wizard].
4. Select [Disabling Self-Updating Mode], and click the [Next] button.
5. Click [Apply] to confirm that self-updating mode was disabled.

1.7.2 Remove Installation Files
Connect to the Windows Server on which you installed the ISM SV Plug-in for CAU
using Remote Desktop.
Navigate to the SMB shared folder that was set up in section 1.4.2 and remove the files
and directories of the ISM SV Plug-in for CAU.
1.8 Precaution
1. To use ISM SV Plug-in for CAU, cluster manager and Cluster-Aware Updating
must be installed, and configuration of the cluster are required.
