hazardous!
Capacity of tank: 15 l.
Filling of fuel for the boiler through the filler socket (4). Capacity of tank: 15 l. Only use heating oil or diesel
oil. The fuel level can be read on the level indicator (5).
If the burner stops unintentionally, check the fuel level in the tank and if necessary fill up with fuel (at
least 5 l).
In consideration of the life of the fuel pump it is important that the machine is not allowed to run in hot water
mode without fuel in the fuel tank.
5. Spray handle - accessories
Clean nipple of any impurities each time
the spray lance has been dismounted.
Pull forward the grey quick coupling trigger of the spray handle (7).
Insert the nipple of the spray lance (9) in the quick coupling and release the trigger.

6. Detergents - dosing unit
Only use ALTO detergents.
Use of aggressive detergents may
damage equipment and affect the
environment.
Flush with water after use.
Detergents can be added under low pressure through the built-in dosing system (10). Fill the tank with a
detergent (11). It is possible to pull out the suction hose with filter (12) and place it in a container with deter-
gent. The dosage is infinitely variable (step 0-5), and the required dosage is adjusted by turning the knob
counter-clockwise, until the required step is against the arrow on the control panel. Max. dosing is approxi-
mately 5%. Upon application of the detergent, the system should be flushed through with pure water at step

7. Anti-incrustation - ALTO No Scale
Light indicator: insufficient "No Scale"
Dark indicator: sufficient "No Scale"
Only use "ALTO No Scale".
To avoid incrustation of the piping of the boiler and thus ensure optimum operation, an anti-incrustant -
"ALTO No Scale" should be added, which is available from your ALTO distributor. Fill the anti-incrustant
through the socket (13) and it will automatically be added to the water in a balanced dosage. Any lack of
"ALTO No Scale" will appear from the level indicator (14).
3.2 Starting-up procedure
Turn control knob to position - I -.
Turn on the water and turn control knob (16) to position - I -. In this position the machine is ready for cold
water operation.
3.3 Operation
Always hold the spray lance with both
hands!
Always lock the spray handle when the
cleaner is not in operation.
Activate the high pressure washer by releasing the trigger of the spray handle (7). When starting up the
machine the pressure may be unsteady because of air in the pump system. After a short time the air has
escaped from the system and the pressure will become steady. If required let the machine operate without
spray lance until all air has escaped from the water inlet hose and the pump.
When the cleaner is not in use, secure the spray handle by turning the locking device (8) into pos. 0.
NOTE: The machine features an automatic start/stop function. When the spray handle is released, the
machine will automatically stop. The machine can be restarted just by activating the spray handle.

3.4 Temperature control
Cold water mode 0 - 40°C
Hot water mode 40 - 80°C
Steam mode 150°C
Choose the required temperature by means of the control knob (16).
If the machine is put away immediately after hot water or steam operation, it should be cooled off at first by
"cold water operation" until the temperature is below 50°C. The cooling period from 80°C to 50°C is approx.
2 min. by cold water operation.
IMPORTANT (only 30HA MASTER): Adjustment at temperatures above 80°C should be made with re-
leased spray handle.
When choosing temperatures above 80°C (steam operation) the water volume is automatically reduced.
Then full water volume by cold water and hot water operation respectively cannot be obtained until the
temperature of the outlet water has fallen below 80°C. Upon that release the spray handle to have full
water volume again. The cooling period, from max. temperature (150°C) to full water volume is approxi-
mately 1 minute.
Direction of rotation of the motor
The direction of rotation of the motor should be correct in order to ensure air
supply for the boiler. If the direction of rotation is wrong (no airflow from the
chimney and thus black smoke from the boiler by hot water operation),
please refer to section »7.0 Troubleshooting and correction - phase se-
quence«.
3.5 Spray lance, pressure regulation, how to use detergents
Turn pressure reducing valve:
Clockwise (B): high pressure
Counter clockwise (A): low pressure /
addition of detergents
The spray lance features 2 nozzles, a high pressure nozzle and a low pressure nozzle. When the pressure
reducing valve (1) is completely closed (turned clockwise - B), only the high pressure nozzle is used - high
pressure mode. When the pressure reducing valve is quite open (turned counter clockwise - A) both spray
lances are used - low pressure mode / possibility of adding detergents. The pressure may be regulated
between these positions.
9

Operating instructions GB
3.6 End of operation
Danger of scalding!
Never dismount the high pressure hose
when the water temperature is above
50°C.
Turn the control knob (16) to position "cold water" against the blue field and activate the spray handle until
the temperature is below 50°C. The cooling period from 80°C to 50°C is approx. 2 min. by cold water
operation.
Then turn off the water supply and stop the machine by turning the control knob (16) to position - O -.
Now the high pressure hose can be detached.

11
Operating instructions GB
3.8 Storage
Frost-free room or anti-freeze solution!
We recommend you to store the machine in a frost-free room between cleaning tasks. The machine must
be emptied of water prior to storing for a longer period. This is done in the following way:
1. Detach water hose. Dismount spray lance and empty it of water.
2. Start the machine, and let it run with open spray handle until all water has run out.
If the store room is not frost-free, the machine should be protected with an anti-freeze solution. Contact
your distributor for further information about the anti-freeze equipment of ALTO. Follow the instructions
provided with the anti-freeze equipment.
Coil up the high pressure hose and the electric cable and place them in the dents of the driving handle (17).
The spray lance can be placed in one of the holder for spray lance (18) on each side of the machine.
3.9 Safety devices on the machine
Motor protection:
The machine features an overcurrent release built into the electrical system which will stop the
machine if the motor and the pump are overloaded. The machine can only be restarted after a
while and after that the reason for the overloading has been corrected .
Pump:
The pump is equipped with a combined circulation and automatic start/stop valve system. The valve auto-
matically disconnects the motor when the spray handle is released and thus ensures that the water is not
circulated in the pump. The machine can be restarted just by activating the spray handle.
The pump also features a safety valve ensuring that the pressure in the pump will never exceed the value
adjusted from the factory. The safety valve is sealed and should only be re-adjusted by an expert service
technician.
Thermostat:
The water temperature is controlled by a mechanical thermostat unit. The thermostat is calibrated from the
factory and must not be re-adjusted. The thermostat unit also comprises the control circuit for the heating
stage function.
Safety thermal breaker:
The safety thermal breaker is a temperature sensor of the manual-reset type. The sensor is placed on the
inlet side of the boiler and disconnects the supply of fuel oil and No Scale if the temperature exceeds 60°C.
The machine can still be operated in the cold water mode.
12
4.0 Fields of application and working methods GB
4.1 Fields of application
The most important fields of application for this product are:
Agriculture Cleaning of machinery, agricultural implements, stalls, and buildings
Transport Cleaning of cars, engine rooms etc.
Building and construction Building renovation, cleaning/degreasing of vehicles, equipment,
buildings etc.
Industry Degreasing and cleaning of machines and vehicles.
Service Cleaning of vehicles and degreasing tasks.
4.2 Working pressure
The high pressure washer may be used with high or low pressure at your own option. At the standard spray
lance the working pressure is adjusted by turning the reduction valve.
Low pressure Is first and foremost used for application of detergents and for washing
off.
High pressure Is used for cleaning.
Intermediate pressure As an example it may be used for the cleaning of surfaces, which cannot
stand a too powerful water jet, i.e. soft surfaces.
4.3 Detergents
The most efficient cleaning is obtained from detergents in conjunction with high pressure cleaning. For that
purpose ALTO can offer you a series of products specially developed for high pressure cleaning, eg
Cleaning of vehicles, machines, stalls etc. Disinfection
Degreasing Maintenance of the high pressure washer
Descaling
The products are water-based, without phosphates, and the applied tensides (surface active substances)
comply with the present requirements for easy biodegradability.
Contact your ALTO distributor for directions as to which product will fulfil your requirements.
The method of application and the dosage of the individual products appear from the product labels or the
data sheet. The dosage is adjusted on the dosing unit of the high pressure washer.
4.4 Dosing of detergents
The high pressure washer features a built-in injector enabling dosing of detergent to the water when the
cleaner is in low pressure mode. With this dosing unit it is possible to vary the dosing of detergent infinitely
between 0-3%, and thus most cleaning jobs will be covered (also see section 3.1.6).
Change from application of detergent under low pressure to cleaning under high pressure is simply effected
by regulating from "low pressure mode" to "high pressure mode" on the spray lance. You will not have to
mount or dismount any parts by normal use of detergent.
For foam cleaning you will have to mount the special foam injector between the high pressure washer and
the high pressure hose. Insert the suction hose of the injector into the foam detergent. Mount foam lance
on spray handle and now you are ready for foam application. Upon the application dismount the foam
injector and replace the foam lance by a spray lance and you are ready for cleaning.
13
Fields of application and working methods GB
4.5 Working methods
Your high pressure washer has been developed for cleaning according to the so-called „2-step method“.
STEP 1 Application of detergent
STEP 2 High pressure cleaning
In practice the working process is laid down in accordance with the actual job, but as a starting point the
following working method can be described for a job:
1. Apply detergent under low pressure. The dosage is chosen according to the job, which is to be
carried out, and the adjustment is made on the dosing unit.
2. Await acting time. Let the detergent act on the dirt/surface for a short time prior to pressure cleaning
- usually a few minutes.
3. High pressure cleaning. Clean all surfaces under high pressure.
4. Rinse afterwards, if necessary. To make sure that residual impurities are removed from the surface.
In connection with the working process the optimum cleaning will be reached by following these 3 pieces of
advice:
Advice no. 1
When using a detergent, always apply it on a dry surface. If the surface is rinsed with water at first, it may
be difficult for it to absorb the detergent, and the result is a reduced effect of the detergent.
Advice no. 2
When applying a detergent on large vertical surfaces (i.e. the sides of a truck) work from below and up-
wards. Thus you will avoid detergent running off the surface through grooves and dark streaks appearing
on the surface whilst cleaning.
Advice no. 3
During the high pressure cleaning you should work so that the high pressure water does not run over the
surface which has not been cleaned yet. This is to ensure that there is sufficient detergent on the surface
when the high pressure water hits the surface.
5.0 Disposable waste
This high pressure washer consists of parts which can damage the invironment when thrown away. Parts
that can polute are as follows:
Oil, painted/zinck-coated parts, plastics/plastic-coated parts.
Therefore, it is important to follow the laws concerning the removal of poluting and dangerous materials
when replacing spare parts or disposing of high pressure washer. It is recommended that you bring the
rejected parts to waste disposal areas or recycling plants that are approved by the state for the destruction
of these types of materials.
14
6.0 Maintenance GB
6.1 General
To ensure that your ALTO high pressure washer is always in an operational condition it is advisable to
have it checked by a ALTO service technician at regular intervals. However, it applies to the most exposed
components that a minimum of maintenance ensures a prolonged and problem-free operation. Therefore it
will be a good idea to make a habit of the following:
z Before mounting the water hose and the high pressure hose the quick couplings should be
cleaned of dust and sand.
z Before mounting spray lance or any other accessory on the spray handle, the machine should
be started and the quick coupling cleaned of dust and sand.
z In periods where detergents are not used the injector system should be flushed through with
pure water to avoid drying up/clogging up of soap in the system.
z The water filter should be cleaned once a month or more frequently as the occasion requires.
z We recommend you to store the machine in a frost-free room. If by mistake the machine freezes
up, it must not be started. Let machine, hoses and accessories thaw up before starting up.
If the room is not frost-free the machine should be protected with an anti-freeze solution.
See section »3.8 Storage - frost protection«.
z Replace fuel filter as the occasion requires.
6.2 Descaling of coil
If your water supply is of a "soft" or "medium" quality, i.e. less than 15dH (German degree of hardness) a
descaling may not be required. However, on condition that the anti-incrustant "No Scale" is always filled in.
If the hardness of the water is above 15dH, the machine should be descaled at least once the year or as
the occasion requires. Scale deposits in the spray lance or reduced heat rating indicate that a descaling is
required.
Descaling as follows:
1. Detach high pressure hose.
2. Turn on the inlet water.
3. Insert the suction hose for the detergent (12) in a container with descaler, ALTO Stonex.
4. Adjust the dosing unit to step 5 (see section 3.1.6).
5. Start the machine in cold water mode.
6. Stop the machine when the water escaping the outlet socket has been coloured by the descaler.
Warning: The mixture may be caustic!
Don’t empty the container completely to prevent air from getting into the system.
7. Let the machine stand for 20 minutes.
8. Place the suction hose (12) in a container with clean water.
9. Start the machine and let it run 5-10 minutes to have the descaler out of the system.
10. If required, repeat the procedure from item 3-9.
11. Adjust the dosing unit to step 0, and the machine is ready for operation.
Note: The descaling should always be carried through in accordance with the instructions on the descaler
product.
6.3 Cleaning of high pressure nozzle
A clogging up in the nozzle causes a pump pressure which is too high and cleaning is immediately required.
1. Stop the cleaner and dismount the spray lance.
2. Clean the nozzle with ALTO nozzle cleaning tool no. 6401654.
IMPORTANT: ONLY use the cleaning tool when the spray lance is dismounted!
3. Flush the spray lance backwards with water.
4. If the pressure is still too high, repeat items 1-3.

United Kingdom: Health and Safety at
work, Act 1974, Guidance note p.m. 29
This act imposes certain obligations with regard
to safety on both operators and suppliers of
machines used in the course of work.
ALTO’s policy has always been to ensure, so
far as is reasonably practicable, that all ALTO
products are safe and without risk to health
when properly used.
Although the proper use will vary from machine
to machine there is a constant factor which
cannot be overemphasized, namely the need for
a good standard of personal and industrial
operation and installation.
ALTO always endeavours to provide customers
with adequate information on the products they
are using, by the issue of descriptive literature
which is constantly being reviewed and up-
dated.
We would also like to remind you of the import-
ance of avoiding misuse and the need to disse-
minate all relevant information to individual
employees.
If you have any doubts or problems relating to
the correct installation, application, storage or
handling of any of the products please do not
hesitate to contact your local ALTO distributor.

The environmental policy of ALTO GB
ALTO has made it a natural part of the concept of
the company to reduce the effect on our environ-
ment as much as possible. This plan is effected
through a constant development in all branches of
the company so that the greatest number of ele-
ments in our high pressure washers affects the
environment to a minimum.
This product too is characterised by the attitude
of ALTO towards the environment.
The majority of the incorporated plastic compo-
nents and first and foremost the cabinet is made of
the environmentally desirable polypropylene plastic
material. The applied form of the substance can be
regranulated, which means that the substance can
be used for other plastic materials upon discarding.
To ensure the possibilities of recycling the plastic
materials of the product, they have been marked
with a recycling symbol and the type of material,
i.e. PP.
It is also a part of our concern for environmental
problems that the high pressure washer is mainte-
nance-free, meaning that the oil in the high pres-
sure pump will not have to be changed. The oil is in
a closed system and is only changed by an even-
tual servicing.
For the production of this high pressure washer
the latest technique and technology has been
applied. The consumption of unnecessary subsidi-
ary materials has been minimized, and during the
final test of the product the test water is recycled.
