How to log onto the Elpro 245U-E-A Radios
1. Power up the 245U-E-A
2. Open your web browser e.g.
Internet Explorer
3. Type in the IP address of the
Radio into the browser e.g.
192.9.200.74 in this example.
4. If you get a warning message
just click “Continue….
NB: Make sure your computer is on the same IP range as
the radio. The default IP range of the radios is 192.168.0.xx
The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
You should be able to PING the radio from your PC

Note: Supply Range 9 30Vdc

Checking Connectivity
The following example assumes the setup below:

Device Mode: Access Point (AP)
IP address: 192.9.200.74
System Address (SSID): system
Device Mode: Client (STA)
IP address: 192.9.200.75
System Address (SSID): system

Go onto the Access Point Configuration Home Page
Then, click on “Connectivity

Shows that this AP is connected to device IP
192.9.200.75
Connected on Channel 149
Connectivity Rate is 18Mbps.
Note: this is NOT the actual
throughput but max possible RADIO
throughput. Actual throughput will be
roughly half this but must be tested
(see later section)
RSSI = Received Signal Strength = -74dBm
BGND = Background Noise = -84dBm
RSSI Connectivity Rate

Channel Utilisation gives a visual display of how busy the current channel is over a given time period.

Channel Utilisation gives a visual display of how busy the current channel is over a given time period.

Checking Channel Utilization
Click on “Channel Surveyfrom the device Home Page
Channel Utilization shows both seconds, mins and hours. It
also include the average background noise for each time
interval
On average, you don’t want your channel utilization to be
higher than around 75%
If you don’t have a lot of traffic on your system, this value
should be relatively low. If its high it could indicate the
presence of other interfering systems.

Throughput Testing
A low throughput can be an indication of either a busy
channel or low signal strength
Always test throughput on an idle channel where possible
Throughput testing measures the maximum data throughput that can be achieved.

To get to Advanced Radio Settings:
Click on “Radio”
Then Advanced Radio Settings”

Throughput Testing
Under “Throuput Test” type in the IP address of the remote device you want to test
E.g. At the AP you would type the remote Client device IP
Average Throughput is 8.85Mbps

Throughput Testing Interpreting the result
The table below shows the expected results for both internal and external throughput testing.
This is an example of internal throughput testing, which always yields slightly lower results.
Your internal results should match up relatively closely to the tables values below.
