2.2.2. Ingredient Preparation Guide
Thoroughly wash your ingredients before use and remember to follow
these preparation recommendations.
Rule of thumb: Most ingredients that you can’t juice are inedible parts
of the fruits and vegetables. If you can’t eat it, then you probably can’t
juice it.
TYPE OF
INGREDIENT EXAMPLES PREPARATION TIPS
Fruits with
seeds and skin
Apple, Kiwi,
Pear
When existing,
remove the
stem. Leave
the skin on.
Remove the
apple seeds.
Skins are a
wonderful
source of
nutrients. Hard
fruits are better
juiced at room
temperature.
Fruits with pits
and hard skins
Mango, Papaya Remove the
skin and don’t
forget to
remove the pit
for it may cause
damage to the
juicer.
This type of
ingredients
results in
thicker juices.

14
Fruits with pits
or hard seeds
and soft skins
Cherry, Plum,
Peach
Remove the pit
for it may cause
damage to the
juicer.
Fruits and
vegetables with
hard skins
Melon, Orange,
Lemon;
Watermelon;
Squash
Remove the
hard skin. With
oranges and
grapefruits,
remove the
white pit.
There is no
need to remove
the white pit
from lemons
and limes
because it is
more easily
digested in
these fruits.
Stemmed fruits Grapes,
Pomegranate
For the grapes,
remove them
from the
stems. With the
pomegranate,
remove the
seeds from the
rind.
To make
it easier to
remove the
seeds of the
pomegranate
from its rind,
submerge
the fruit in a
large bowl of
cold water. For
the grapes,
place them
in handfuls
into the
feeding tube
to maximize
extraction
friction.

Pineapple - Slice o the top
and base and
slice remainder
into strips.
This fruit may
cause the filter
to clog so it is
important to
clean it after
each pineapple
is juiced.
Berries Strawberries,
Blueberries,
Cranberries
Remove the
stems when
necessary
but they can
be processed
whole.
Place berries
in handfuls
into the
feeding tube
to maximize
extraction
friction.
Root
vegetables
Carrots Cut tip and
root ends. Cut
lengthwise into
strips to make
them easier to
juice.
Better juiced
at room
temperature.
Tomatoes -Remove the
stem if needed.
Results in a
thick rather
than clear juice.
Leafy
vegetables
Spinach,
Wheatgrass,
Lettuce, Kale
Wrap them
together and
place vertically
into the feeding
tube or cut into
smaller pieces.
Soak
vegetables for
5/10 min in cold
water to refresh
them if needed.

Fibrous leafy
vegetables
Celery, Parsley Feed slowly
into the feeding
tube. May be
whole or in
pieces.
-
Cucumber - May be placed
whole into the
feeding tube.
Beetroot -Remove the
leaves and skin.
Use it raw.
Peppers Bell pepper Remove the
stem and
seeds.
Nuts Almonds Soak in water
for about 30
mins before
juicing. Always
feed into the
juicer an equal
amount of
water per each
part of soaked
almonds.
Use this
process for
other types
of nuts or the
juicer will not
be able to
process them
correctly and
it may cause
damage to the
appliance.
PLEASE NOTE:
Bananas, avocados and Figs - These three nutritional powerhouses
lack in water content which means they don’t have juice. To better
mix them into your juicing recipes, please add them in a blender after
juicing the rest of the fruits to create the perfect thick juice or creamy
smoothie.

Dried fruits - Since their water content has been removed, they do not
produce juice. Examples: dried raisins, dried figs and dried apricots.
INGREDIENT PREPARATION GUIDE - SORBETS & ICE CREAMS
To create sorbets and ice creams in your Slow Juicer please follow the
following options and guidelines:
DESIRED
RESULT
INGREDIENT
PREPARATION TIPS
Pure Sorbet
/Ice Cream
Prepare the fruit according
to the previous table -
remove hard skins, pits and
other parts that cannot be
processed, leaving what
can - cut them into bitesize
pieces and freeze them in
advance.
In this method, your
sorbet/ice cream
will retain the fibre
included in the fruit
(ex. from the apple
skin, for example)
Clear Sorbet Prepare the fruit more
comprehensively, removing
every skin or pit. Cut them
into bitesize pieces and
freeze them in advance.
Using this method
will create a clearer,
smoother result.
Ice Cream Prepare the food in either
one of the previous method
according to what we wish
to retain from the fruit in
the result, cut the fruit in
bitesize pieces and freeze
them in advance.
To create a smooth
and scoopable ice
cream, add yogurt
while processing the
fruit.

PLEASE NOTE:
Suggested fruits - You may use any fruit (or combination of fruits) in
this function of your slow juicer but some fruits work better than others
in creating the perfect sorbet or ice-cream like coconut, peaches,
strawberries, mango and pineapple.
Supermarket-bought frozen fruit - You may also buy already-made
frozen fruit and use it for making sorbet or ice cream in the slow juicer.
Just make sure it was frozen in the appropriate size in order for it to be
able to be processed correctly and not damage the juicer.
You can also create sorbets/ice creams from leftover juice - If you
have extra juice, distribute it in ice trays and then freeze them the
day before. You can then use it in the same way as you would use
the frozen bits of fruit to create the sorbet/ice cream. You can also
mix honey, syrup or vanilla extract in the juice before freezing to
incorporate that taste into the final result.
2.2.3. Strainers
Juice Strainer - Choose this filter to create the perfect cold pressed
juices. Its small holes thoroughly separate the pulp from the fruit,
creating the perfect clear juice as a result, even with hard or fibrous
ingredients.
Blank Strainer - This is your sorbet/ice cream strainer. Use it as you
would use the juice strainer, but its format and associated technology
will allow you to create the perfect creamy frozen dessert in just a few
minutes.
