1 INSTALLATION
Open the battery cover underneath the unit and insert 4 AA batteries
(1,5V) or use a 9V AC adapter. If you use an adaptor, connect one
end of the adaptor cable with the electric socket and the other end
with the back of the Callmaster 250 (1).
Plug one end of the phone cable into the telephone line wall socket
and the other end into the back of the unit “LINE” (2).
Connect one end of the supplied phone cable with the telephone
and the other end with the back of the Callmaster 250 PHONE” (3).
Note : The battery low icon “ ” appears on the display when the battery is
almost empty or when you are using an adapter. As soon as you have re p l a c e d
the empty batteries with new ones, the icon disappears.

3 SETTINGS
After having installed the Callmaster 250, you have to carry out the
following settings:
3.1 Select language
P ress and hold the Mode/Call button and then press the Set button.
The display showsRESET VXXX”.
Press the Mode/Call button again. The display will show
“Nederlands” (default language). To change the language, press
the Set button.
When finished, press the Mode/Call-toets.
Note : This unit has 3 languages : Dutch, French and German.
3.2 Setting Date and Time
The unit automatically sets the date and time when a call comes
in (for the FSK system only). The date and time are sent by the
telephone provider, along with the Caller-ID information. This
depends on the services offered by your telephone provider. In
certain countries the date and the time have to be set manually
when the batteries are being replaced.
On the display appears : " DD/MM HH:MM "
Press the Set button to change the setting.
Press the Up and Down buttons to move the cursor.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter all 8 digits.
Press the Mode/Call button to confirm; the unit goes to the next
setting : ‘Set the area code’.

3.3 Set the area code and the area prefix
3.3.1 Set the area code
As soon as “AREA CODE” appears on the display you can enter your
area code. When you receive a phone call and it has the same area
code as the one you have programmed, the area code will not be
shown on the display. This function is only useful in countries where
it’s not allowed to dial an area code when you call back from the
same area.
Press the Set button to change the setting.
Press the Up and Down buttons to move the cursor.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the remaining two digits of the area
code.
Press the Mode/Call button to confirm.
Note : Press the Erase button when you want to erase the entire area code.
3.3.2 Set the area prefix
When you program an area prefix, you can add a number to an
incoming call. This is only possible when the area code of the incoming
number is not the same as the programmed area code. As soon as
“DIAL PREFIX” appears on the display, you have to do the following :
Press the Set button to change the setting.
Press the Up and Down buttons to move the cursor.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the remaining digits.
Press the Mode/Call button to confirm and the date is being set.
Note : Press the Erase button when you want to erase the entire area prefix.
3.3.3 Use of the area code and the area prefix
Example 1 :
When the local area code has been set (for ex. 755) and you receive a
local call (for ex.. 755 1234567), the area code “755” will be omitted.
Only the local number 1234567 is displayed and announced.

Example 2 :
When you have set both the local area code “755” and the area
prefix “0” and you receive a non-local call (for ex. 644 1234567),
the area prefix will be placed in front of the telephone number for
ex. 0 + 644 1234567.

3.4 To set the handset
You can set the handset in such a way that the number or the name
will be announced through the handset of your phone (this is for
both corded and cordless telephones). When “HANDSET-OFF” is
mentioned on the display, you have to press the Set button to activate
the reception of the Caller-ID information over the handset (default
setting : off). Press the Mode/Call button to confirm .
Note : The handset function only operates when you use an adapter. Batteries
alone are not sufficient.
3.5 To set the warning signal New Messages
When the “MSG BEEP” function is activated and you have a new
message on your mailbox (of the telephone net), you will hear a
signal. This function only works when this service is offered by
your telephone provider.

When “MSG BEEP-OFF” is shown on the display, you have to press
the Set button to activate this function (default setting : off).
Press the Mode/Call button to confirm. The unit will regularly emit
a beeping signal when there are new messages in the mailbox.
4 OPERATION
4.1 Announcement of incoming calls
When you receive a phone call, the caller’s phone number will be
announced through the speaker between the first and second ringing
tone. The phone number, the name (depends on the telephone
p rovider), de date and the hour will also be shown on the display.
Additional indications:
a ) “NEW”
It concerns a new call.
b ) “RPT”
Number of the same calls that came in. It means that you have
already received calls from this number.
c ) “NUMBER UNKNOWN”
The incoming call has been sent through by a telephone provider
that doesn’t offer the Caller-ID service or their service is not
connected with yours.
d ) “NUMBER BLOCKED”
The caller’s number can not be displayed because he has restricted
his number/name from being sent to the receiving part y. The
number is a private number.

4.2 Handset Operation
When the function “HANDSET-ON” is set (see 3.4 To set the handset)
and you receive an incoming call, the caller’s telephone number or the
re c o rded name (see 4.4 To re c o rd a name) will be announced thro u g h
the Callmaster 250 and also through the receiver of your telephone
(this is for corded as well as for cordless telephones).
When the handset function is activated, the phone will ring once
when a call comes in and stops ringing for 10 seconds. Only during
these 10 seconds will the unit announce the number through the
handset of the phone. After that the phone will ring again and then
i t ’s no longer possible to hear the caller’s telephone number thro u g h
the handset.
4.2.1 You want to be connected with the caller
Pick up the handset and press the Flash button (R button) or wait for
6 seconds.
4.2.2 You don’t want to be connected with the caller
You put the handset back on the phone. The phone keeps ringing
until the caller hangs up or an answering machine answers the call.
The caller doesn’t know that you picked up the handset.
4.3 To check calls
E v e ry time you receive a phone call, the Caller-ID information is store d
in the phone’s memory. On the display appears the total number of
calls (“TOTAL”) and the total number of new calls (“NEW”) you
h a v e n ’t scrolled through yet. The multifunctional LED indicator blinks
slowly to inform you that you’ve received new calls.
Press the Down button, you are moving from the most recent call
to the oldest call in the memory. When you have reached the
beginning of the list, “TOP OF LIST” is shown on the display.

Press the Up button, you are moving from the oldest call to the
most recent call in the memory. When you have reached the end
of the list, “END OF LIST” is shown on the display.
Note : When the memory is full, the new calls automatically replace the oldest
calls in the memory. Up to 100 phone numbers can be saved in the memory.
4.4 To record a name
You can add a name to 60 phone numbers, saved in the units memory.
This name has to be recorded, so that, when the same caller calls
again, the callers telephone number as well as his/her name will be
announced.
T h e re are two ways to add a name :
to a number that you have programmed yourself or
to a number in the Call list
4.4.1 Add a name to a number in the call list
Press the Up or Down button until the desired number is shown
on the display.
Press and hold the Set button.
As soon as you here a beep, record your name in the microphone
(recording time is 2 seconds per name).
Release the Set button. The unit automatically plays the recorded
name as a final check.
4.4.2 Add a name to a number that you’ve already pro g r a m m e d
When you want to record a name but that person’s telephone
number is not saved in the memory, press the Mode/Call button
until “XXX XXX XXXX ENTER NUMBER” is shown on the display.
P ress the Set button to select the first digit of the desired phone
n u m b e r.

P ress the Up button to go to the second digit.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the complete number
P ress the Mode/Call button to confirm and “RECORD NAME” is
shown on the display.
P ress and hold the Set button.
As soon as you here a beep, re c o rd your name in the microphone
( re c o rding time is 2 seconds per name).
Release the Set button to end the re c o rding. The unit automatically
plays the re c o rded name as a final check.
4.5 To add a recorded name to different numbers
The same recorded name can be added to different phone numbers.
Make sure that the person’s number, whose name you want to
select, is shown on the display.
There are 2 ways to do this :
a) When his phone number has already been saved in the call list,
p ress the Up or Down button until the desired number is displayed.
b)When the phone number is not saved in the memory, press the
Mode/Call button until “ENTER NUMBER” appears on the display.
Then you press the Set button, the Up or Down button to enter
the desired telephone number. Press the Mode/Call button to
confirm.
Press the Mode/Call button until “SELECT NAME” is shown on the
display.
Press the Up or Down button until the desired name is being
announced out loud.
Press the Set button briefly. On the display appears “SELECTION
DONE”.

4.6 To check a name
P ress the Mode/Call button until “REVIEW NAMES” appears on the
d i s p l a y.
P ress then the Up or Down button to scroll through the phone
numbers with re c o rded names. While you are scrolling through the
numbers, every re c o r ded name is being announced out loud.
4.7 To re c o rd an outgoing message (OGM) for a particular caller
It is possible to play an outgoing message (OGM) to certain telephone
numbers. This OGM can be played once (T=temporary) or always
(P=permanent) when a particular phone number comes in.
4.7.1 To record an outgoing message (OGM)
Press the Mode/Call button until “RECORD OGM” appears on the
display.
Press the Up or Down button to select one of the two possibilities
available : “P-OGM 10-SEC” : permanent OGM
“T-OGM 10-SEC” : temporary OGM
When you have made the selection of your choice, press and hold
the Set button.
As soon as you hear a beep tone, register the message into the
speaker (maximum registration time is 10 seconds).
After having finished the message, release the Set button. The unit
automatically plays the message as a final check.
4.7.2 To select an outgoing message
As soon as you have recorded an outgoing message, it needs to be
assigned to one or multiple telephone numbers. This means that,
when this particular person calls, the correct OGM will be played.
You can program maximum 15 phone numbers per OGM. Make sure
that this person’s phone number is shown on the display.

There are 2 ways to do this :
a ) When his phone number is already saved in the memory, press the
Up or Down button until the desired number appears on the display.
b ) When his phone number is not saved in the memory, press the
Mode/Call button until “ENTER NUMBER” appears on the display.
Then you have to press the Set button, the Up or Down buttons to
enter the desired telephone number. Press the Mode/Call button
to confirm.
P ress the Mode/Call button until “SELECT OGM” appears on the
d i s p l a y.
P ress the Up or Down button until the desired OGM appears on the
display and is played out loud.
Press the Set button briefly. On the display appears “SELECTION
DONE”.
Note : You can assign multiple telephone numbers (max. 15 per OGM) to one
OGM. In that case you have to repeat the above mentioned pro c e d u re for each
telephone number.
4.8 To check the outgoing message (OGM)
Press the Mode/Call button until “REVIEW OGM” appears on the
display.
Press the Up or Down button to scroll through all telephone
numbers with an OGM.
4.9 To asjust the volume
The volume can be adjusted, there are 4 levels : low, medium, high, off.
To change the volume, press the Mode/Call button until “ADJUST
VOLUME” is displayed.
Press the Up button to change the volume. You will hear a
confirmation tone.

4.10 To erase calls
4.10.1 To erase one call
Use the Up or Down button to look for the number that you want to
erase in the call list. Press the Erase button once to delete the call
shown on the display. When one call is erased, the other numbers in
the memory will be re n u m b e red.
4.10.2 To erase all calls
Press and hold the Erase button for 2 seconds and all calls in the
memory will be erased.
4.11 Call back
You can directly call back numbers that are saved in the memory.
Make sure that the local area code and the area prefix are correctly
p rogrammed before you use this function.
Press the Up or Down button to search the person you want to
call back.
When the number is displayed, press the Mode/Call button.
The desired number will be dialled.
On the display appears “DIALING”.
Note : The call back function will only work when the phone is connected to
the ’PHONE’ connection of the Callmaster 250.
4.12 To set default settings (reset)
Press and hold the Mode/Call button and then press the Set button.
The display shows : “RESET VXXX”. Press the Set button again briefly.
The default settings have now been reset :
Call list = empty
Recorded names = none
Recorded OGM = none

4.13 Voice mail
When the Callmaster 250 has received voice mail messages, you will
hear a warning tone. This is a special service offered by your local
telephone provider. As soon as the unit detects these signals, the
symbol appears on the display and the LED indicator blinks fast.
4.14 Solving problems
4.14.1 The Callmaster 250 doesn’t respond properly to commands
It is possible that the batteries are empty. Try to solve the problem by
replacing the batteries. When you are using and adapter, disconnect it
for about 10 seconds.
4.14.2 The unit doesn’t announce any calls
Check the volume.
Contact your telephone provider to check if you have a Caller-ID
subscription.
Check the batteries and the cables.
Let the phone ring twice before you answer because the Caller-ID
information is displayed and announced between the first and
second ring.
4.14.3 The call back function doesn’t work properly.
The local area code and the area prefix have not been set corre c t l y.
Read the chapter in question thoroughly and set them again.

5 WARRANTY
Warranty : 1 year
Ask your dealer for your free swop warranty.
Attention : Do not forget to include your purchase invoice when
you return the damaged device.
The equipment has been approved to 98/482/EG (TBR 21) for pan-European single terminal connection to the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN). However, due to differences between the individual PSTNs provided in different countries the approval
does not, of itself, give an unconditional assurance of successful operation on every PSTN network termination point. Should you
have problems, contact your dealer.
This list will indicate the networks with which the equipment is designed to work and any notified networks with which the
equipment may have interworking difficulties.
