Bematech BR-310 is a barcode reader that can be installed in keyboard, serial (RS232), or USB mode. It features a red LED light on top of the device that turns on when the device is successfully installed and emits three beeps to indicate the same. The device is compatible with PCs, terminals, cash registers, and microterminals. No external power source is needed when the device is installed with a cash register or microterminal, as they will power the reader. When installed with a PC or terminal, the device can be powered by either an external AC adaptor or the USB connection.

INSTALLATION
Installing the Reader in Keyboard Mode
To install the reader in keyboard mode follow the steps below:
1. Turn off the PC or terminal.
2. Unplug the keyboard from the PC or terminal.
3. Confirm that you have the “Y” cable with the appropriate connector
type for your PC or terminal.
4. Connect the reader to the PC or terminal.
5. Connect the keyboard to the female port on the “Y” cable.
6. Turn on the PC or terminal.
7. Configure the reader interface for Keyboard Mode.
If the installation is successful, a red LED light on top of the reader
will turn on and you will hear three beeps from the reader.
Installing the Reader in Serial Mode (RS232 Mode)
To install the reader in Serial Mode follow the steps below:
1. Turn off the PC or terminal.
2. Confirm that the Serial cable connector type is compatible with
the PC or terminal.
3. Connect the AC adaptor to the reader. If you are installing together
with a cash register or a microterminal, they will power the reader
and an external power source is not needed.
4. Turn on the PC or terminal.
5. Configure the reader interface for Serial Mode (RS232 Mode).
If the installation is successful, a red LED light on top of the reader
will turn on and you will hear three beeps from the reader.
Installing the Reader in USB Mode
To install the reader in USB mode follow the steps below:
1. Turn off the PC or terminal.
2. Confirm that the USB connector type is compatible with the PC
or terminal.
3. Connect the USB connector of the reader to the PC or terminal.
Note: It is not necessary to use an external power source. The reader
is powered by the USB connection with the PC or microterminal.
4. Turn on the PC or terminal.
5. Configure the reader interface for USB Mode.
If the installation is successful, a red LED light on top of the reader
will turn on and you will hear three beeps from the reader.
