Productoverview
TheRCR-SDUSBisaremotecardreaderforAxiomMFDs.Itincludes:
•SDcardslot—compatiblewithMicroSDmemorycardsforelectronicchartsanduserdata(e.g.waypointsetc.).
MicroSDcardsmustbeinsertedintoanadaptorbeforetheycanbeusedintheRCR-SDUSB’sSDcardslot.Most
MicroSDcardsaresuppliedwithasuitableadaptor.
•USBport—forconnectingexternalUSBstoragedevices(e.g.memorysticks).Thisportcanalsobeusedto
chargeexternalUSBdevices.
Warning:USBdevicepower
DoNOTconnectanydevicethatrequiresanexternalpowersource,otherthanthatsupplied
bytheMFD’sUSBconnection.
Surfacemounting
Note:
•4xappropriatesizeself-tappingscrews(notsupplied)arerequiredtomounttheunit.
•Drillbitandscrewsizearedependentuponthethicknessandtypeofmaterialthattheunitisbeingmountedon.
1.UsingtheRCR-SDUSBmountingtemplate(87292)asaguide,cutanddrilltherelevantholesinthemounting
surface.
2.Attachthegaskettotherearofthecardreader.
3.FeedthecablethroughtheholeandconnecttotheAccessoryconnectionontherearofyourMFD.
4.Insertthecardreaderintothecut-outhole.
5.Securethecardreaderusingappropriateself-tappingscrews(notsupplied).
6.Insertthecardreaderinlay.
7.Topreventwateringressandconsequentdamagetotheproduct,ensurethatthecardreaderdoororcoveris
firmlyclosed.

Fittingsuppressionferrites
Incertaininstallationscenariosinterferencemaybeexperiencedintheformofdatacorruptionwhenreadingand
writingtoexternalstorageviathecardreader.Underthesecircumstancesthesuppliedsuppressionferritesshould
befittedtothecardreader’scable,asdescribedbelow.
Twoofthesuppressionferritesshouldbefittedat6mm(0.24in)intervalsfromtheconnectorendofthecableand
thethirdferriteatadistanceof53mm(2.09in)fromtherearofthecardreader.Cabletiesarealsosuppliedto
helpsecureeachferriteinplace.
