Becomefamiliar with eachpiecebefore assemblingthe

pressure washer. Comparecontents against the view on page

6. if any parts are missing or damaged,call the pressure

washer helpline at 1-800-222-3136.

ASSEMBLINGYOURPRESSUREWASHER

Your Craftsmanpressure washer was mostly assembledat

the factory. However,you wiil needto perform these tasks

beforeyou can operateyour pressure washer:

1. Attach handleto main unit.

2. Install wheel kit.

3. Add oil to engine crankcase.

4. Add fuel to fuel tank.

5. Connecthigh pressurehoseto spraygun and pump.

6. Connectwater supply to pump.

NOTE:Make sure lip on plastic adapters is facing up in

hinges.

2. Clamp handleextension onto pressure washer handle

and insert T-bolts into holes of clamp. Tighten by hand.

Install Wheel Kit

Thewheel kit is designedto greatly improve the portability of

your pressure washer.

NOTE:Wheelkit is not intended for over-the-road use.

installthewheelkit asfollows:

1. Placethebottom ofthe pressurewasherframe ona flat,

evensurface,such as blocksto easeassembly.

2. Spread axlebrackets apartand placeover front vibration

mounts on the pressure washer frame as shown.

Squeezeaxle brackets back to original shape.

Slide axlethrough holes in both axlebrackets,as shown.

5. With raised hub inward, slide wheels over axle on each

side of pressure washer frame.

6. Install retainingclips into grooves on axleto retain

wheels.

7. Removethe temporary blocks.

Add Engine Oil

1. Placepressure washer on a flat, levelsurface.

2. Cleanarea around oil fill and remove yellow oil fill

cap/dipstick.

NOTE:Seethe section "Oil" on page 17 to review oil

recommendations.Verify provided oil bottle is the correct

viscosity for current ambient temperature.

3. Using oil funnel (optional), slowly pour contents of

provided oil bottle into oil fill opening.

properly servicedwith the recommended oil. This may result in

an engine failure.

Replace oil fill cap/dipstick and fully tighten.

Add Fuel

Fuelmustmeettheserequirements:

• Clean,fresh, unleadedgasoline.

• A minimum of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON).Highaltitude

use,see"High AIItitude" on page9.

• Gasolinewith up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) or up to 15%

MTBE(methyl tertiary butyl ether) is acceptable.

To protect the fuel system from gum formation, mix in a fuel

stabilizer when adding fuel. See Storage.All fuel is notthe

same. If you experiencestarting or performance problems

after using fuel, switch to a different fuel provider or change

brands. This engine is certified to operateon gasoline. The

emission control system for this engine is EM (Engine

Modifications).

1. Cleanareaaround fuel fill cap, removecap.

2. Slowly add regular unleadedfuel to fuel tank. Becareful

not to overfill. Allow about 1.5" (38 mm) of tank space

for fuel expansion.

3. Install fuel cap and let any spilled fuel evaporatebefore

starting engine.

CAUTION! Alcohol-blendedfuels (calledgasohol, ethanol or

methanol) canattract moisture, which leadsto separationand

formation of acids during storage.Acidic gas candamagethe

fuel system ofan engine while in storage.

To avoid engine performance issues,the fuel system should

betreated with a fuel preserver or emptied beforestorage of

30 days or longer. To protectthe fuel system from gum

formation, use Briggs & Stratton FRESHSTARTTM fuel

stabilizer plus, or FRESHSTARTTM continuous fuel preserver

(concentrated liquid cartridge). If fuel preserver is not used,

drain the fuel tank, start the engine and let it run until the fuel

linesand carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel next season.

See"Storage" on page21 for additional information.

NEVERuseengine or carburetor cleaner products in the fuel

tank as permanent damagemay occur.

HighAltitude

At higher altitudes (over5,000 feet), 85 octane/85AKI

(89 RON)gasoline is recommended. High-altitude usemay

require a carburetor jet kit to improve performanceand

decreasefuel consumption. Seeany Searsor qualified dealer

for more information.

Connect Hose and Water Supplyto Pump

NOTE:Removeand discard the shipping caps from the

pump's high pressure outlet and water inlet beforeattaching

hoses.

1. Uncoil high pressure hoseand attach one end of hoseto

baseof spray gun. Tighten by hand.

Keephigh pressure hose connectedto pump and spray gun

while system is pressurized.

Always becertain spray gun, nozzlesand accessories are

correctly attached.

Attach other end of high pressure hoseto high pressure

outlet on pump. Tighten by hand.

Beforeconnecting garden hoseto water inlet, inspect

inlet screen.Cleanscreen if it contains debris or have it

replacedif damaged. Referto section "O-Ring

Maintenance"if inlet screenis damaged.DONOTrun

4. Run water through your garden hose for 30 secondsto

cleanout any debris.

pump system of air and impurities.

ChecMist Before Starting Enoine

Reviewthe unit's assemblyto ensureyou haveperformed all

of the following:

1. Makesure handle is in placeand secure.

2. Checkthat oil hasbeenadded to proper levelin engine

crankcase.

3. Add proper fuel to fuel tank.

4. Checkfor properly tightenedhoseconnections (high

pressureand watersupply) andthere are no kinks, cuts,

or damageto high pressurehose.

5. Provideproper water supply (notto exceedIO0°F).

6. Be sureto read "Safety Rules"and "Operation" sections

before using pressure washer.

7. If starting unit after storage, see"Storage" section on

page21.

To Start Your Pressure Washer

To start your pressure washer for the first time, follow these

instructions step-by-step. This starting information also

applies wheneverif you havelet the pressure washer sit idle

for at least a day.

1. Placepressurewashernearan outsidewater source

capableof supplyingwater ata flow rategreaterthan

3.0gallons per minuteand no lessthan 20 PSiat pressure

washerend of gardenhose.DONOTsiphonsupply water.

2. Checkthat high pressurehoseistightly connectedto

spray gun and pump. See"AssemblingYour Pressure

Washer"for illustrations.

3. Makesure unit is in a level position.

4. Connectgarden hoseto water inlet on pressure washer

pump.

5. Turn ONwater, point gun in a safe direction and squeeze

trigger to purge pump system of air and impurities.

6. Attach nozzleextensionto spray gun. Tighten by hand.

7. Engagetrigger lock on spray gun trigger.

HowTo Use the Adjustable Hozzle

You should now know howto STARTand STOPyour

pressure washer.The information in this section will tell you

howto adjust the spray pattern and to apply pressure washer

specific detergents.

Slide nozzlebackwardto achievehigh pressure. Slide

nozzleforward whenyou wish to adjust spray to low

pressure mode.

Point nozzledown towards a firm surface, disengage

trigger lock, and press trigger to test pattern.

3. Twistingnozzleadjustsspraypatternfromafanpattern

Using the Turbo Hozzle

Theturbo nozzlespins a 0° nozzlestream in a circular

pattern, providing an intense wide-spray pattern for scouring

large surfaceareasfast and efficient.

A turbo nozzlecan easily cut through heavyoil and grease

stains on concrete, brick and plastic and strip paint from

various surfaces. DONOTusethe turbo nozzleon delicate

materials,especiallywood. Always start the turbo nozzleat a

distance, gradually getting closer to the surface until you get

the cleaningforce you want. Always keepthe turbo nozzlein

a constant motion. NEVERdwell on a single spot. Passover

Applying Detergent with Adjustable Nozzle

6. Engagetrigger lock on spray gun and start engine

following instructions "How to Start Your Pressure

Washer".

7. Apply detergentto a dry surface, starting at lower

portion of area to be washedand work upward, using

long, even, overlapping strokes.

8. Allow detergentto "soakin"for 3-5 minutes before

washing and rinsing. Reapplyas neededto prevent

surfacefrom drying. DONOTallow detergentto dry on

(prevents streaking).

IMPORTANT:You must flush the detergent siphoning system

after each useby placing the filter into a bucket of clean

water,then run the pressure washer in low pressure for

1-2 minutes.

Pressure Washer Rinsing

FerRinsing:

1. Slide nozzlebackwardto high pressure, press trigger

and wait for detergentto clear.

NOTE:You canalso stop detergentflow by removing

detergent siphoning tube from container.

2. Keepspray gun a safe distancefrom areayou plan to

spray.

WARNING

Operatepressurewasherfrom astablesurface.

Beextremelycarefulif youmustusethepressurewasherfrom

a ladder,scaffoldingoranyothersimilarlocation.

Firmlygraspspraygunwith bothhandswhenusinghigh

pressuresprayto avoidinjurywhengunkicksback.

3. Apply a high pressure spray to a small area,then check

surfacefor damage.If no damageis found, it is okay to

continue cleaning.

4. Start at top of area to be rinsed, working down with

same overlappingstrokes asyou usedfor washing and

applying detergent.

Cleaning Detergent Siphoning Tube

If you usedthe detergentsiphoning tube, you must flush it

with cleanwater beforestopping the engine.

1. Placedetergent siphoning tube/filter ina bucketfull of

clean water.

2. Engagetrigger lock on spray gun.

3. Slideadjustable nozzleforward to low pressure position.

4. Flushfor 1-2 minutes.

5. Shut off engine following instructions "How to Stop

PressureWasher" and turn off water supply.

A WARNING

Keephigh pressure hose connectedto pump and spray gun

while system is pressurized.

ALWAYS point gun in safe direction and squeezespray gun

trigger, to releasehigh pressure, everytime you stop engine.

Engagetrigger lock when not in use.

6. ALWAYSpoint gun in a safe direction and squeezespray

gun trigger to releaseretained high water pressure.

iMPORTANT:Spraygun traps high water pressure,evenwhen

engineis stoppedand water is disconnected.

Automatic Cool Down System

(Thermal Relief)

If you run the engine on your pressure washer for

3-5 minutes without pressing the trigger on the spray gun,

circulating water in the pump can reachtemperatures above

125°F(51°C). Thesystem engagesto cool the pump by

dischargingthewarm water ontothe ground.

PRESSUREWASHERMAINTENANCE

Clean Debris

Daily or beforeuse, clean accumulated debrisfrom pressure

washer. Keeplinkage, spring and controls clean. Keeparea

around and behind muffler free from anycombustible debris.

Inspect cooling air slots and openings on the pressure

washer. Theseopenings must be kept cleanand

unobstructed.

Pressurewasher parts should be kept clean to reducethe

risk of overheatingand ignition of accumulated debris.

• Useadamp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces clean.

• Useasoft bristle brush to loosen caked on dirt, oil, etc.

Check and Clean Inlet Screen

Examinethe screen on the pump's water inlet. Cleanif it is

clogged or replaceif it is torn.

Check High Pressure Hose

High pressure hoses can developleaksfrom wear, kinking,

or abuse, inspect hose beforeeach use.Checkfor cuts,

leaks,abrasions, bulging of cover, or damageor movement

of couplings. If any of these conditions exist, replacehose

immediately.

Check Detergent Siphoning Tube

Examinethe filter on the detergenttube and cleanif clogged.

Thetube should fit tightly on the barbedfitting. Examinethe

tube for leaks or tears. Replacethe filter or tube if either is

damaged.

Check Gunand Hozzle Extension

Examinehoseconnection to gun and make sure it is secure.

Testtrigger by pressing it and making sure it springs back

into placewhen you releaseit. Engagesafety latch andtest

trigger. You should not be able to press trigger. Replacegun

immediately if it fails any of these tests.

Check In-Line Filter

Referto the illustration and service the in-line filter if it

becomesclogged, as follows:

Nozzleextension

1. Detachnozzleextensionfrom gun and removeo-ring and

screenfrom nozzleextension. Flushscreen, gun, and

nozzleextensionwith cleanwater to clear debris.

2. Placein-line filter screen into threaded end of nozzle

extension. Direction does not matter. Push screen in with

eraserend of pencil until it restsfiat at bottom of

opening.Take carenot to bend screen.

3. Placeo-ring into recess. Push o-ring snugly against in-

line filter screen.

4. Assemblenozzleextensionto spray gun, as described

earlier in manual.

Hozzle Maintenance

A pulsing sensationfelt while squeezingthe spray gun

trigger may be caused by excessivepump pressure. The

principal cause of excessivepump pressure is a orifice

clogged or restricted with foreign materials, such asdirt, etc.

Tocorrect the problem, immediately cleanthe orifice

following these instructions:

1. Shut off engine and turn off water supply.

2. ALWAYSpoint gun in a safe direction and squeezespray

gun trigger to releaseretainedhigh water pressure.

Keephigh pressure hose connectedto pump and spray gun

while system is pressurized.

ALWAYS point gun in safe direction and squeezespray gun

trigger, to releasehigh pressure, everytime you stop engine.

Engagetrigger lock when not in use.

Removenozzleextensionfrom spray gun.

Twist nozzleclockwiseto stream position. Using a 2ram

(5/64) allen wrench, removeorifice from end of nozzle

extension.

Removein-line filter from other end of nozzleextension.

Usea small paperclip to freeany foreign material

clogging or restricting orifice.

Using a garden hose, remove additional debris by back

flushing water through nozzle extension. Back flush

between 30 to 60 seconds. Turn adjustable nozzle

extension to stream spray and move nozzle from low to

high while flushing.

8. Reinstallorificeandin-linefilterintonozzleextension.

DONOTovertightenorificewithallenwrench.

9. Reconnectnozzleextensiontospraygun.

10.Makesuregardenhoseisconnectedtowaterinlet.

Checkthathighpressurehoseisconnectedtospraygun

andpump.Turnonwater.

11.Engagetriggerlockonspraygunandstartengine

followinginstructions"HowtoStartYourPressure

Washer".

12.Testpressurewasherbyoperatingnozzleinhighand

temperatures. Useof synthetic oil does not alter requiredoil

SAE38: 40°rand higher (5°C and higher) is good for all

purpose useabove40°F, usebelow 40°Fwill cause hard

starting.

10W-30:0 to IO0°F(-18 to 38°C) is better for varying

temperature conditions. This viscosity improves cold weather

starting, but may increase oil consumption above80°F

(27°C).

*Check oil levelfrequently at higher temperatures.

Synthetic 5W-38:-20 to 120°F(-30 to 40 °C) provides the

best protection at all temperatures aswell as improved

starting with less oil consumption.

5W-30: 40°rand below (5°C and below) is recommendedfor

winter useand works best in cold conditions.

CheckingOilLevel

Oil levelshould be checkedprior to each useor at least every

5 hours of operation. Keepoil levelmaintained.

1. Makesure pressure washer is on a level surface.

2. Removeoil dipstick and wipe dipstick with cleancloth.

Replaceand tighten dipstick. Removeand and check oil

level.

3. Verify oil is at "Full" mark on dipstick. Replaceand

tighten dipstick.

AddingEngineOil

1. Make sure pressure washer is on a level surface.

2. Checkoil levelas described in "Checking Oil Level".

3. If needed,slowly pour oil into oil fill openingto the

"Full" mark on dipstick. DONOToverfill.

Changeoil while engine is still warm from running,as

follows:

1. Drain fueltank by running pressure washer until fuel

tank is empty.

2. Disconnectspark plug wire and keepit away from spark

plug.

3. Cleanarea around oil fill, remove oil fill cap/dipstick.

Wipe dipstick clean.

4. Tipyour pressure washer to drain oil from oil fill into a

suitable container making sure you tip your unit away

from spark plug. When crankcaseis empty, return

pressure washer to upright position.

5. Slowly pour recommended oil (about 20 oz.) into oil fill

opening. Pauseto permit oil to settle. Fillto "Full" mark

on dipstick.

6. Wipe dipstick cleaneachtime oil levelis checked. DO

NOToverfill.

7. Replaceand tighten dipstick.

8. Wipe up any remaining oil.

9. Reconnectspark plug wire to spark plug.

Service Air Cleaner

Your engine will not run properly and may be damagedif you

run it with a dirty air cleaner.

Servicethe air cleaneronceevery 25 hours of operation or

onceeachyear, whichever comesfirst. Servicemore often if

operating under dirty or dusty conditions. Replacementsare

availableat local Searsservice center.

1. Removescrew.

j 2. Carefullyremove air cleanerassembly to prevent debrisfrom falling into carburetor.

3. Takeair cleanerassembly apart and cleanall parts.

Wash foam air cleanerin liquid detergent and water.

Squeezedry in a cleancloth.

4. SATURATEfoam air cleaner in engine oil and squeezein

a clean cloth to remove excessoil.

5. Reinstallcleanor newfoam air cleanerin body.

6. Install air cleanersecurely on carburetor with screw.

ServiceSparkPlug

Servicethe spark plug every 100 hours of operation or

yearly, whichever occurs first.

1. Cleanareaaround spark plug.

2. Removeand inspect spark plug.

3. Replacespark plug with recommended plug if electrodes

are worn or if insulator is cracked or chipped.

4. Checkelectrode gap with wire feelergauge and set gap

at 0.030 inches (0.76ram), if necessary.

5. Install spark plug,tighten securely.

Spark Arrester Service

Your engine is not factory-equipped with a spark arrester. In

some areas,it is illegal to operatean engine without a spark

arrester. Checklocal laws and regulations. A spark arrester is

availablefrom your nearest Searsservicecenter. If you need

to order a spark arrester, contactyour localSearsservice

center.

Air Cooling System

Overtime debris mayaccumulatein cylindercooling fins and

cannot be observedwithout partialenginedisassembly. For

important is to keeptop of enginefree from debris. See"Clean

AFTEREACHUSE

Water should not remain in the unit for long periods of time.

Sedimentsor minerals candeposit on pump parts and

"freeze"pump action. Follow these procedures after every

use:

1. Flushdetergent siphoning tube by placing the filter into a

pail of cleanwater while running pressure washer in low

pressure mode. Flushfor one to two minutes.

2. Shut off engine,turn off water supply, point gun in a

safe direction and squeezetrigger to relievetrapped

pressure,engagetrigger lock on spray gun and let

engine cool.

while system is pressurized.

ALWAYS point gun in safe direction and squeezespray gun

trigger, to releasehigh pressure, everytime you stop engine.

3. Disconnecthose from spray gun and high pressure

extension. Usea rag to wipe off the hose.

4. Empty pump of all pumped liquids by pulling recoil

handleabout six times. This should remove most liquid

in pump.

5. Store unit in a clean, dry area.

6. If storing for morethan 30 days,see "Long Term

Storage" on next page.

Store awayfrom furnaces, stoves, water heaters, clothes dryers

or other appliancesthat have pilot light or other ignition source

becausethey can ignite fuel vapors.
