1. NEW LONG LIFE COOLING LIQUID
AVAILABLE FOR CLM
1.1 General
Phenom enon
Quick evaporation of the cooling liquid in CLM projectors with yellow or a mix of yellow-blue
cooling liquid tubes.
Cause
The permeability of the yellow tubing in c om bination with the regular blue cooling liquid
requires frequent service (min 1 time /year).
Solution
New cooling liquid has been developed in order to respond on the demand of longer service
intervals.
Replacing the blue cooling liquid with new clear cooling liquid will reduce the evaporation.
The liquid c ooling service interval are improved from 9 - 12 months to + 5 years. This
results in much lower TCO (total cost of ownership).
A new kit with this new cooling liquid is available and can be ordered with number
B4012970K.
Scope
All CLM projectors with yellow or with a mix of yellow-blue cooling liquid tubes.
2. REPLACING THE COOLING LIQUID
About the replacement
The old and the new cooling liquid does not mix together. The new liquid has a higher
density than the old one, so the old liquid remains up.
Start the refreshment procedure as indicated hereafter. Continue or repeat this procedure
until new liquid is coming out at the output.

2.1 Refresh ing th e liquid cooling circuit
Necessary tools
Plastic tube with male valved tting.
Plastic tube with female valved tting.
Syringe equipped with male valved tting.
Bottle w ith 1 liter cooling liquid.
Empty bottle with a volume of one liter or higher.
•Cloths.
How to refresh the liquid cooling circuit ?
1. Release the pressure by turning the knob until the membrane is at the bottom of the
reservoir or until one feels resistance due to under pressure (vacuum). In that case open
the lid and keep turning until the membrane is at the bottom, then close the lid again.

2. Interrupt the liquid cooling circuit by uncoupling the valved tting of the circuit coming
from the heat exchanger.

4. Fill a plastic tube, which contains a female tting, with cooling liquid as follows:

a)Connect a tube, which contains a female (F) tting, to the male (M) tting of the sy-
ringe.
b)Emerge the tube end and make sure that the piston of the syringe is completely pressed
in.
c) Extract cooling liquid into the syringe by pulling out the piston.
d)Disconnect the lled tube from the syringe. Make sure that the tube remains immersed.

Caution:It’s important that there is no air inside the tube. The pump is not self priming
and hence is only c apable of sucking through small volumes of air.
5.Pushthefemalevalvedtting of the lled tube on the male valved tting. This is the
entrance of the liquid cooling circuit. Make sure that the in
let of the lled tube remains
immersed.

6. Activate the Rell mode” in the “Service” menu of the projector. As a result the pump
starts and the f resh cooling liquid in the bottle is sucked into the cooling circuit while the
old cooling liquid is pressed out of the circuit into the empty bottle.
Note:Make sure that the end of the plastic tube remains immersed in the bottle with
fresh cooling liquid.

7. Switch off the rell mode (set to no) after 2/ 3 of the fresh cooling liquid is sucked up
into the circuit.

8. Reinstall the cooling circuit connections. Check if air is on top of the liquid in the reservoir.
If so, open the reservoir as described in "Top-up the reservoir with cooling liquid", page
5.
Fill up the reservoir again until the level is equal with the small hole in the reservoir and
close the reservoir again.
9. Pressurize the c ircuit by turning the knob to the left until there is 2 cm free thread be-
tween the knob and the bottom of the reservoir.

2.2 Top-up the r eservoir with c ooling liq uid
How to top-up
1. Release the pressure by turning the knob until the membrane is at the bottom of the
reservoir or until one feels resistance due to under-pressure (vacuum), in that case open
the lid and keep turning until membrane is at the bottom.

3. Turn the bleed lid a little and take it out (B). Hold a clot ready in case there is still some
pressure on the circuit.

5. The rest of the blue liquid is c ollected on top of the reservoir. Use a syringe to remove
this liquid.
6. Top-up the reservoir with cooling liquid until the level is equal with the small hole in the
reservoir.

7. Activate the Rell mode” in the “Service” menu of the projector to remove the air out of
the circuit.
Gently tap the radiator/tubes to remove
potential air bubbles.
Add liquid again until the level is equal with the small hole in the reservoir.
Deactivate the Rell mode”.
8. Close the third lid again us ing the back side of the main lid.
9. Turn in the bleed lid.
Clean up r emaining liquid.
10.Close the main lid.
11.Pressurize the circuit by turning the knob to the left until there is 2 cm free thread
between the knob and the bottom of the reservoir.
