Event Master shipping cases for E2 and S3

General

Phenomenon

E2 and S3 Barco supplied shipping cases should not be used as everyday transport cases. These cases are

meant only for the delivery of the new product and are not designed to handle the rigors of multiple shipments.

Through our depot repair we have seen cases where the internal foam has been broken down, allowing the units

to slide back and forth. This may cause damage to the interconnect board of the internal power supplies,

damaging the board connectors. This phenomenon happens more quickly when the case is left with the E2 or S3

processor resting on the connector protectors, rather than lying flat.

Solution

Place E2 and S3 units in a shock mounted ATA case for daily shipment use.

The Barco supplied cases should be used only if they are in good working order, the internal foam is not

deformed, and when shipping to Barco or for Barco to return a repaired unit. The supplied rear connector

protectors must be installed for shipment.

Scope

This phenomenon and solution affects all E2 and S3 series processors.
