4Proper Use
The charging current distributor ECL-75 and ECL-100 have been especially developed for
the use together with the roof air conditioning units of WAECO in drive- and stationary
operations.
This ensures an optimum power supply from the generator via the starter battery to the
supply battery. With insufficient charging through the generator, the integrated
undervoltage protection switches the air-conditioning off.
Possible combinations of roof air conditioning units and charging current distributors as
well as the necessary cable cross-sections of the supply line shown in the following table:
5 Technical description
The light machine generates a voltage of approx. 14 volts during driving which ensures a
recharging of the starter battery as well as the supply of the electrical power consuming
devices of the vehicle.
Additionally some mobile homes possess an electrical connection between starter- and
additional battery which is only then active when the vehicle engine is running. This line
is designed for currents up to 20 A. When operating the roof air-conditioning unit via the
inverter, the current consumption amounts to approx. 120 A from the 12 volts supply.
The possibly existing standard connection line between starter- and additional battery
would be overloaded since the generator must supply a large amount of the load current.
A remedy is provided by having an additional cable connection (at least 16 mm
2
at ECL-
75, at least 25 mm
2
at ECL-100) between starter battery and additional battery which can
be switched on or off via a relay.
Likewise, the roof air-conditioning unit is switched off by means of the on-off line when
there is undervoltage.
The charging current distributors have two relay outputs which are used as follows:
z Power relay to connect the starter and consumer battery
z EasyCool:
Control relay to switch the inverter or the roof air conditioner on and off
CA-1000:
Control relay to switch the compressor on and off

5.1 Functional description for EasyCool roof air conditioners
– Please also refer to the circuit diagrams on page 3 to page 5 –
The light system voltage U
D+
is measured. If the voltage exceeds a variable voltage value
Ue (12.5 V - 14.0 V), the 30/87 relay contact of the power relay is closed. The starter
battery and the additional battery are therefore connected in parallel with low ohms and
are charged together by the light system.
Note
EC-1500 and EC-2000:
The on/off switch of the roof air conditioner is connected to the inverter via the
contacts of the ECL-75/ECL-100.
EC-2500 and EC-3000:
The roof air conditioners are only connected to the charging current distributor
via contacts I2 and I3.
Contact I2 is connected to I3 with U
D+
> Ue. If the light system voltage falls below
a variable threshold value Ua (10.5 V - 12.5 V), due to an increased load due to the roof
air conditioner, relay contact 30/87 is opened. Relay contact I2, I3, which interrupts the
connection between the on/off cable and the inverter, is also opened.
The roof air conditioner is switched off in this way. The light system now charges the
starter battery. If the caravan has a connecting cable between the two batteries, the
additional battery is also charged.
If the charging voltage of the light system U
D+
reaches the voltage value Ue, the power
relay and the control relay switch on again. The roof air conditioner starts again. If the
vehicle engine is not switched on, U
D+
= 0 V, relay contact 30/87 is open and relay contact
I2-I3 is closed. The roof air conditioner can be operated and only takes power from the
additional battery. If the battery voltage falls below U
batt
= 10 V, the inverter switches off.
5.2 Functional description for CoolAir roof air conditioners
– Please also refer to the circuit diagrams on page 6 –
The light system voltage U
D+
is measured. If the voltage exceeds a variable voltage value
Ue (12.5 V - 14.0 V), the 30/87 relay contact of the power relay is closed. The starter
battery and the additional battery are therefore connected in parallel with low ohms and
are charged together by the light system.
Note
A 2-wire sensing cable (included with the CA-DC, item no.: 4441300084) is
used to connect the CA-1000 roof air conditioner (see fig. 4, page 6) to the
ECL-75 charging current distributor (contacts I2 and I3).
Contact I2 is connected to I3 with U
D+
> Ue. If the light system voltage falls below a
variable threshold value Ua (10.5 V - 12.5 V), due to an increased load due to the roof air
conditioner, relay contact 30/87 is opened. Relay contact I2, I3, is also opened and
switches the compressor off (fan keeps running). If the light system voltage exceeds the
set Ue value with U
D+
> Ue, the compressor switches on again automatically.

6 Connection
The cable cross-section of the cable for the connection between starter
battery, power relay and consumer battery may not be below 16 mm
2
at ECL-
75 or 25 mm
2
at ECL-100. The cable between the negative pole of the
consumer battery and the vehicle chassis has to be controlled likewise to at
least 16 mm
2
or 25 mm
2
(replace against a stronger cable, if possible).
Warning!
To prevent short circuits, always disconnect the negative terminal of the vehi-
cle's electrical system before working on it.
If the vehicle has an additional battery, its negative terminal should also be dis-
connected.

Adjustment charging current distributor
20
7 Adjustment
Basically these works are to be executed only by a specialist since a wrong
adjustment of the switching on/off voltages can lead to malfunctions of the air-
conditioning unit or/and the electrics of the vehicle can fail.
The voltage scale illustrated on the charging current distributor serves as aid
to orientation. If other values are to be adjusted, then these have to be
controlled with a suitable voltage indicator. For this purpose, an external
adjustable laboratory power unit can be connected to the terminals GND and
D+.
Insert the screwdriver into the axis of the potentiometer (see Illustration 5 on page 7).
Clockwise rotation increases the threshold of the voltage, anti-clockwise rotation
reduces the threshold of the voltage.
A cut-out voltage below 11.5 V is not recommendable according to our current
state of knowledge.
8 Cleaning and care
Caution!
Do not clean the device under flowing water or in soapy water.
Caution!

ECL-75 with CA-1000:
Lay the sensing cable (included with the CA-DC, item No.: 4441300084) from the
roof air conditioner to the charging current distributor.
Do not shorten the sensing cable. If the cable is too long, wind it together.
Connect the wires of the sensing cable according to the circuit diagram (see fig. 4,
página 6) with I2 and I3 on the charging current distributor.
Remove the air nozzle unit of the CA-1000.
Insert the three-pole plug of the sensing cable into the socket (3 pole pin strip socket)
on the control PCB of the roof air conditioner (see fig. 6, página 7).
7Ajuste
conexión inferior a 11,5 V.
