How to Use This Guide
This manual is designed to help you use the ACLD-9182. The manual
describes how to modify various settings on the ACLD-9182 card to
meet your requirements. It is divided into five chapters:
Chapter 1, "Introduction," gives an overview of the product
features. applications, and specifications.
Chapter 2, "Installation," describes how to install the ACLD-9182.
The layout of ACLD-9182 is shown, the connector pin assignment
and input mode selection - AC or DC input signal are specified.
Appendix A, "Customize the Current Limit Resistor," describes how
to replace the current limit resistors, if you want to get higher
voltage than 24V.

Introduction
The ACLD-9182 opto-isolated D/I board provide 16 opto-isolated
digital inputs which can be used by any ACL series digital input
board with D/I channels on 20-pin flat ribbon connectors. It is a
good solution for preventing floating potential and ground loop
problems.
Each input channel has a red LED to reflect it's ON/OFF status .
If the input voltage is high , the LED will be lit, otherwise the
LED is off. Each input channel is jumper selectable to either AC
or DC input, also, the users do not need to care the polarity.
1.1 Features
The ACLD-9182 16 channel opto-isolated D/I board provides the
following advanced features:
16 Opto-Isolated digital input channels
Build-in screw terminals for wiring
Threshold adjustable for isolated input mode
On board LEDs to reflect the input logic status

Installation
This chapter describes how to install the ACLD-9182. At first, the
contents in the package and unpacking information that you
should be careful are described. The jumpers and switches
setting for the ACLD-9182's base address and digital input
channel configuration (Isolated or Non-isolated) are also
specified.
2.1 What You Have
In addition to this User s Manual, the package includes the
following items:
ACLD-9182 16-channel Opto-isolated D/I Board
one 1-meter 20-pin flat cable assembly
If any of these items is missing or damaged, contact the dealer
from whom you purchased the product. Save the shipping
materials and carton in case you want to ship or store the
product in the future.

Installation
2.2 Unpacking
Your ACLD-9182 card contains sensitive electronic components
that can be easily damaged by static electricity.
The card should be done on a grounded anti-static mat. The
operator should be wearing an anti-static wristband, grounded at
the same point as the anti-static mat.
Inspect the card module carton for obvious damage. Shipping
and handling may cause damage to your module. Be sure there
are no shipping and handing damages on the module before
processing.
After opening the card module carton, exact the system module
and place it only on a grounded anti-static surface component
side up.
Again inspect the module for damage. Press down on all the
socketed IC's to make sure that they are properly seated. Do this
only with the module place on a firm flat surface.
Note : DO NOT APPLY POWER TO THE CARD IF IT HAS BEEN
DAMAGED.
You are now ready to install your ACLD-9182.

The ACLD-9182 contains 16 identical opto-isolated control input
channels. The circuit diagram of the isolated input channel is shown
below. The digital input is first routed through a photo-coupler (PC-
814), so that the connection are not polarity sensitive whether used on
AC or DC voltage.
In addition, a single-pole filter with a time constant about 5ms is used
to filter when the AC inputs passed through.

The normal input voltage range for high state is 3 to 24VAC or DC.
The normal input range can be extended by changing the resister (Ri)
to limit the current (IF)through the PC-814( opto-isolator to about
10mA . The exact resister value to replace the original resister Ri
(1.2K ) can be calculated by the following formulas.
Vin = IF X Ri
Pw = Vin X IF
For example, if the input voltage is 110V, then the Ri should be
replace by
Ri = 110 (V) / 0.01 (A) = 11 K
Pw = 110 (V) X 0.01 (A) = 1.1 W
