1. Installing additional software
Important!
Install additional software after you have installed the HP scanning software.
A. Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 4.0
If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you must install it to display the "HP
PrecisionScan Pro User Guide," the "Installation Supplement," the "ADF User's Guide," and the
"Readiris Manual." If you already have Acrobat Reader 4.0 installed on your computer, you do
not need to install it again.
Note:
If you have an earlier version of Acrobat Reader, you can use that version, or you can install
Acrobat Reader 4.0. To see which version of Acrobat Reader you are using, open Acrobat
Reader, and then click About Acrobat™ Reader in the Apple menu.
To install Acrobat Reader, double-click the Adobe Acrobat Reader Installer and follow the
instructions on the screen. The Installer might prompt you to restart your computer after it
finishes the installation.
B. Image-editing software (Corel® Photo-Paint 8)
1. On your HP Scanning Software CD, locate the Corel Read Me icon.
2. Double-click this file, and then read the Installation portion of this Read Me before you install
the software.
3. When you are ready to begin installing Photo-Paint, double-click the Corel Photo-Paint 8
Installer and follow the instructions on the screen. The Installer prompts you to restart your
computer after it finishes the installation.
C. OCR software (Readiris 6.0 for Macintosh)
1. Double-click the Readiris 6.04 US Installer (which is located on the HP Scanning Software
CD) and follow the instructions on the screen. The Installer may prompt you to restart your
computer after it finishes the installation.
2. The Readiris software user's manual (in Adobe Acrobat format) is located on the HP
Scanning Software CD. You can copy this file to your hard drive, or you can use the file
directly from the CD. The file is named "Readiris Manual.pdf."

after it finishes the installation.
