Introduction
The IFS NS3702-24P-4S-V2 24-port 10/100/1000 Mbps 802.3at PoE + 4-Port Gigabit
TP / SFP combo managed switch with hardware layer 3 IPv4/IPv6 static routing comes
with a multi-port gigabit ethernet switch, SFP fiber optic connectibility, and robust layer
2 features. The description of this model is as follows:

Product description
Ideal solution for secure IP surveillance construction
Specifically designed for popular IP surveillance applications, the Gigabit 802.3at PoE
managed switch is a surveillance switch with central management of remote power
control and IP camera monitoring. The managed switch provides a built-in L2/L4
switching engine and intelligent PoE functions along with 24 10/100/1000Base-T ports
featuring 30 W 802.3at PoE in RJ-45 copper interfaces and four Gigabit TP/SFP combo
interfaces supporting high speed transmission of surveillance images and videos.
Perfect integration solution for IP PoE camera and NVR system
Unlike an industrial PoE switch which usually contains 12 or 24 PoE ports, the NS3702-
24P-4S-V2 provides 24 802.3at PoE+ ports for catering to medium-to-large scale IP
surveillance networks with lower total cost. With 48 Gbps high performance switch
architecture and a 440 W PoE power budget, the recorded video files from 24 PoE IP
cameras can be powered by the managed switch and saved in 8/16/32-channel NVR
systems or surveillance software to perform comprehensive security monitoring. For
example, the managed switch can combine with a NVR and 16 or more PoE IP
cameras as a system for administrators to centrally and efficiently manage a
surveillance system in the local LAN and at a remote site.
Centralized power management for Gigabit Ethernet PoE networking
To fulfill the requirements of increased power for PoE network applications with Gigabit
speed transmission, the managed switch features high performance Gigabit IEEE
802.3af PoE (up to 15.4 W) and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (Up to 30 W), and shared 440 W
PoE between all ports. It supports high power consumption PoE IP cameras such as
IR, PTZ, Speed Dome, and box type IP cameras with a built-in fan and heater.
The PoE capabilities provided also help to reduce deployment costs for network
devices. Power and data switching are integrated into one unit, delivered over a single
cable and managed centrally. It thus eliminates cost for additional AC wiring and
reduces installation time.
Built-in unique PoE functions for surveillance management
As a managed PoE switch for surveillance, wireless, and VoIP networks, the managed
switch features the following special PoE management functions:

The managed switch can be configured to monitor connected powered device (PD)
status in real time via a ping action. After the PD stops working and responding, the
managed switch resumes the PoE port power and puts the PD back to work. The
managed switch greatly enhances the network reliability through the PoE port resetting
the PD’s power source and reducing administrator management burden.
Scheduled power recycling
The managed switch permits each of the connected PoE IP cameras to reboot at a
specified time each week. This reduces the chance of IP camera crashes resulting from
buffer overflow.
SMTP/SNMP trap event alert
Though most NVR or camera management software offers a SMTP email alert function,
the managed switch further provides an event alert function to help to diagnose device
issues as a result of a network connection break, loss of PoE power, or a reboot as a
result of the PD alive-checking process.
PoE schedule for energy saving
In addition to IP surveillance applications, the managed switch can also be used in any
PoE network including VoIP and Wireless LAN. Under the trend of energy saving

effectively control the power supply in addition to its capability of provideing high Watt
power. The “PoE schedule” function helps you to enable or disable PoE power feeding
for each PoE port during specified time intervals, and is a powerful function to help
SMBs or enterprises save power and money.
Cost-effective PoE switch solution for IPv6 networking
The managed switch supports both IPv4 and next generation IPv6 management
functions and network structures. With easy and friendly management interfaces and
many management functions included, the managed switch is the best choice for IP
surveillance and wireless service providers to connect with IPv6 network.
Efficient management
For efficient management, the managed switch is equipped with console, web, and
SNMP management interfaces. With the built-in web-based management interface, the
managed switch offers an easy-to-use, platform-independent management and
configuration facility. The managed switch supports standard Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP) and can be managed via any standard-based
management software. For text-based management, the managed switch can be
accessed via Telnet and the console port. Moreover, the managed switch offers secure
remote management by supporting SSH, SSL, and SNMPv3 connections that encrypt
the packet content at each session.
Robust layer 2 features
The managed switch can be programmed for advanced switch management functions
such as dynamic port link aggregation, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol
(MSTP), layer 2 to layer 4 QoS, bandwidth control, and IGMP / MLD snooping. The
managed switch provides 802.1Q Tagged VLAN, and a maximum of 255 VLAN groups.
The managed switch also permits the operation of a high-speed trunk combining
multiple ports, and also supports fail-over.

Powerful security
The managed switch offers a comprehensive layer 2 to layer 4 Access Control List
(ACL) for enforcing security to the edge. It can be used to restrict network access by
denying packets based on source and destination IP address, TCP/UDP ports, or
defined typical network applications. Its protection mechanism also comprises 802.1x
port-based and MAC-based user and device authentication. With the private VLAN
function, communication between edge ports can be prevented to ensure user privacy.
The managed switch also provides DHCP snooping, IP source guard, and Dynamic
ARP inspection functions to prevent IP snooping attacks and discard ARP packets with
invalid MAC addresses.
Flexible and extendable uplink solution
The four mini-GBIC slots built into the managed switch support dual-speed, 100Base-
FX and 1000Base-SX/LX Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) fiber-optic modules. A
SFP transceiver can be chosen according to the transmission distance or speed
required. The distance can be extended from 550 m (multi-mode fiber) up to above
10/50/70/120 km (single-mode fiber or WDM fiber). They are well suited for applications
within enterprise data centers and distributions.

Installation
This section describes the hardware features and installation of the managed switch on
the desktop or rack mount. For easier management and control of the managed switch,
familiarize yourself with its display indicators, and ports. Front panel illustrations in this
chapter display the unit LED indicators. Before connecting any network device to the

Console port
The console port is a DB9 port connector and an interface for directly connecting a
terminal. Through the console port, the managed switch provides diagnostic information
including the IP address setting, factory reset, port management, link status, and
system setting. The included DB9 console cable connects to the console port on the
device. After making the connection, users can run any terminal emulation program
(Hyper Terminal, ProComm Plus, Telix, Winterm, and so on) to enter the startup screen
of the device

Reset button
Located on the right of the front panel, the reset button is designed to reboot the
managed switch without turning the power off and on. The following is the summary
table of the reset button functions:

PoE In-Use Orange Lit: indicates the port is providing 56 VDC in-line power.
Off: indicates that the connected device is not a PoE
Powered Device (PD).

1000 LNK/ACT Green Lit: indicates the port has successfully connected to the
network at 1000 Mbps.
Blinking: indicates that the switch is actively sending or
receiving data over that port.
100 LNK/ACT Orange Lit: indicates the port has successfully connected to the
network at 100 Mbps.
Blinking: indicates that the switch is actively sending or
receiving data over that port.
Switch rear panel
The rear panel of the managed switch contains an AC inlet power socket that accepts
input power from 100 to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
AC power receptacle
For compatibility with electrical supplies in most areas of the world, the managed
switch’s power supply automatically adjusts to line power in the range of 100-240 VAC
and 50/60 Hz.
Plug the female end of the power cord firmly into the receptacle on the rear panel of the
managed switch and the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet and then
power it on.
Note: The device is a power-required device, meaning it will not work until it is powered
on. If your network needs to be active at all times, consider using a UPS (Uninterrupted
Power Supply) for the device to help to prevent network data loss or network downtime.
In some areas, installing a surge suppression device may also help to protect the
managed switch from an unregulated surge or current to the switch or the power
adapter.
Installing the switch
This section describes how to install and make connections to the managed switch.
Read the following topics and perform the procedures in the order presented.
To install the managed switch on a desktop or shelf:
1. Attach the rubber feet to the recessed areas on the bottom of the managed switch.
