This kit provides a fix for the following instances:
Black and Blue/White wires:
In 2013 vehicles that are equipped with the My Link radios, the color display will not turn on.
In 2013 convertable vehicles that are equipped with the My Link radios, the radio has poor reception.
Brown and Brown/White wires:
In 2010-2013 vehicles manufactured for use outside of the US, the factory Bluetooth module no longer
works.
**Vehicles located in the US will only need the Black wire and the Blue/White wire. No damage will be
done if all 4 wires are installed in either the US or Non-US models.**
Locate the plastic bag that houses the 4 wires needed for this modification. Remove the wires from the
plastic bag. (See Figure A.)
Remove the factory
radio to gain access
to the iAMP-GM1
harness that is
connected to the
back of the radio
and disconnect it. (If
the harness from the
iAMP-GM1 has not
yet been installed
please disregard this last step.) Locate the male side of the harness (the side that plugs into the factory radio)
and firmly grasp both sides of the white insert and pull forward so that the insert pops out approx. 1/8 inch.
(see Figure B.)
Figure A.
Locate pin #9 in the
harness. It should be
next to a brown/white
wire. Insert the male end
of the black wire into the
opening. Push the pin in
far enough that it locks
into the connector.
(See Figure C.)
Figure B.
Figure C.
With the white insert still in the unlocked position, you will want to insert the Brown and Brown/White wires
into this connector. Locate pin #35 and insert the female side of the Brown/White wire into the slot until it
clicks and locks in. (Pin 35 is located next to the Green/Black wire in the harness). Locate pin #36 and insert the
the female side of the Brown wire into the slot until it clicks and locks in. See Figure D.
Figure D.
After those pins are secured you can lock the white insert back into place. You will then want to find the
corresponding pin locations in the female side of the harness. Insert the male side of those pins into the
same locations. (pins 9, 35 and 36). In addition to those wires you will need to locate pin #43 and insert
the male side of the Blue/White wire into the slot until it clicks and locks in. (See Figure E.)
Figure E.
Figure F.
Once all of the pins have been inserted into the connectors, you will need to remove the cloth tape around the
T junction to expose the Blue/White wire. You will then need to remove about 1/2 inch of the shielding to
expose the wire. Strip and wrap the wire coming from pin #43 on to the wire that we just removed the
shielding from. You will then need to solder and tape the connection. Replace any tape that was removed and
connect the harness back to the factory radio and vehicle. Secure the radio back into the dash and test to ensure
that all functions work as they should.
