1.Positionthespringsintothestriper-mountbrackets(Figure5).
Ensurethattheshort,outsidengersonthespringsareunderthestriper-mountbrackets(Figure5).
2.Loosenthe4nutsontopoftherollerassemblyandaligntheholesintherollerassemblywiththeholesin
thestriper-mountbrackets(Figure5).
3.Whileholdingthepivottubeinplace,insertthepivotrodthroughthepivottube,springs,andstriper-mount
bracketsandsecureitwith2pivotwashersand2hairpincotters(Figure5).

Cool-seasongrasstypesfoundinnorthernareas
areusuallygoodforstriping.
Warm-seasongrasstypesfoundinsouthernareas
usuallyproducelesspronouncedstriping.
Transition-zonegrassesfoundinthenarrow-belt
regioncanproducegoodstripinginsomeareas,
andsomeportionsofthegrowingseason,while
producingpoorstripinginotherareasorportions
oftheseason.
Somegrasstypesproducebetterstripingcontrast
whenmowingshort.Othergrasstypesormoisture
contentofthegrasscanprovidebettercontrast
whenmowingatatallheightofcut.Experiment
withwhatworksbestinyoursituation.

patternappearstogothroughtheobstruction.
Forexample,itlooksbestforapatterntomatch

differentcross-cutpatternonthefarsideofapond
maynotbevisible.
Someareaslookbestwithlong,straightlinesofa
striped-mowingpattern,alignedwiththeproperty
edge.Someareaslookbestwithadiamond
pattern,whereneitherstraightlineisaligned
withthepropertyedge.Propertieswithrolling
hillsidesorpondslookbestwithaowing-curves
stripingpattern.Youcanhighlightandenhancea
distinctivefeaturelikeasmallpondbymowingin
aradialoraringpattern.
SomeLawnsMustBeTrainedto
ShowaStripingContrast
Onanewpropertyduringtherst2weeks,you
mayneedtofollowtheexactsamepatternand
directioninthesamewheeltracks.Thisbegins
“training”thegrasstobendinthedesireddirection.
Duringthethirdweek,useacross-grainstriping
pattern.
Duringthefourthandfthweeks,followwith
repeatingtheoriginalpattern.Afteryouestablish
theprimarystripingpatterngrain,youmay
alternatethepatterneachweektoestablisha
checkerboardoraplaid-stylepattern.
Donotmowinthesamepatterneveryweek.
Thiscausescompactioninthewheeltracksand
mayproducerutsordepressionsalongthewheel
tracks.

Raisetherollerwhenturning;stripingisgenerally
notenhancedbyendturns.
Raisingtherollerreducesconfusingthepatternat
theendsofthepattern.

CuttingAreas
Raisetherolleranddeck,anddrivealonga
previouspathtotransportfromoneareaofthe
propertytoanothersection.
Donotdriveacrossastripedpattern.
BestMowingandStriping
Practices
Itisusuallybesttorstmowtheperimeterto
establishaboundary.
Whenside-discharging,directtheclippingsaway
fromwalks,drives,owerbeds,buildings,and
vehicles.Ifthedischargethrowsclippingsa
longdistance,mowadditionalpassestoavoid
unwantedcleanupofclippings.
Avoiddrivingbackwardexcessively.Driving
backandforthorfrequentforwardandreverse
maneuversaroundanobstaclecompressesthe
grassanddisturbstheprofessionalappearance
ofanicejob.
Avoidclosetrimmingwiththestripingkitinstalled
toreducedamagetolandscapingandtheroller.
Followallsafemowingpracticesasdescribed
intheOperator’sManual.Donotletthestriping
patterncauseyoutomowinahazardousmanner.
