Please read the following instructions and keep them on hand for later
reference.
Instructions for persons in the household
1. This appliance can be used by children 8 years and older, as
well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities or with lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are
supervised or if they have been instructed with regard to safe
use of the appliance and have understood the dangers that can
result from use of the appliance.

3. Children are not allowed to perform cleaning and user
maintenance, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are
supervised.
4. Keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of
children under 8 years of age.
5. CAUTION – parts of this product can become very hot and cause
burn injuries! Particular caution is required if children or persons
at risk are present.
6. Only connect the appliance to an AC power supply with voltage
corresponding to the voltage specified on the rating plate.
7. This appliance must not be operated with an external timer or a
remote control system.
8. Never immerse the appliance or the power cord in water or other
liquids – life-threatening danger!
9. Do not open the motor housing under any circumstances, there
is danger of electric shock!
10. The appliance is intended for household use only, or for similar
areas of use, such as,
in kitchenettes in businesses, offices or other workplaces,
for use by guests in hotels, motels or other lodgings,
in private guest houses or holiday homes.
11. Check the appliance, the plug and the power cord regularly
for wear or damage. In the event of damage to the power cord
or other parts, please send the appliance or the power cord to
our customer service organisation for inspection and repair.
Unauthorised repairs can result in serious hazards for the user
and void the warranty.
12. If the power cord of this appliance is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or by the manufacturer’s customer
service organisation, or by a person with similar qualifications,
to prevent hazards.
13. To avoid damage, do not use the appliance with accessories of
other manufacturers or brands.
14. Unplug the mains plug from the electrical outlet after use and
before cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when the

operation, power failure, freezing tempertures, poor insulation
or if the heating capacity is incorrectly selected for the size of
the room.
Safety instructions for set-up and operation of the appliance
16. The appliance is only suitable for indoor use, in dry closed
spaces.
17. Do not operate the appliance in garages, woodsheds or similar
spaces.
18. Only place the appliance on a suitable, level, heat-resistant sub
-
strate.

Ensure that the power cord is laid out in such a manner that
there is no possibility of stumbling over it.
20. To avoid damage to the cord, never wrap the power cord around
the appliance.
21. To avoid damage to the cord, always unplug the mains plug from
the electrical outlet by grasping the plug, never pull the power
cord to unplug the appliance.
22. Ensure that the electrical outlet that is used is easily accessible,
in order to unplug the appliance in an emergency.
23. To avoid damage to the power cord, ensure that it is not pinched
or pulled over corners.
24. If possible, do not use an extension cord. If you must use an
extension cord, completely unwind the extension cord and com

30. Warning: Maintain an adequate safety distance (at least 1 meter)
to other objects, such as furniture, curtains, etc. and ensure that
air can flow in and out unhindered.
31. Do not use the appliance to dry laundry – fire hazard.
32. Never leave the house when the appliance is switched on. Do not
allow the appliance to run unattended.
33. Injuries can occur due to escaping hot air. Consequently strictly
ensure that children are kept away from the appliance.
34. To exclude the possibility of overheating the appliance, only
rooms that are larger than 4 m² should be heated.
35. Do not insert any objects in the appliance openings, this can
result in electric shock.
36. Do not use any highly flammable substances or sprays, for exam

ple, in the vicinity of the appliance – fire hazard!

When it is not in use, only store the appliance in closed, dry

The appliance is very hot during and after operation – danger

WATER TANK
Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet before performing
tasks on the water tank.
1. Remove the cover on the rear of the appliance.
2. Pull the water tank slightly upward and out of the housing.
3. Turn the water tank over so that the screw cap faces upward.
4. Unscrew the screw cap.
5. Fill the tank with water and screw the screw cap back on. Note: To prevent
appliance damage the temperature of the water used should not be over
40°C. We recommend that you use distilled water or water that has been
boiled and cooled.
6. Turn the water tank over and insert it into the housing.
7. Ensure that the water tank is correctly inserted.
8. Close the housing cover, by first fitting it on at the bottom and then have it
lock in place at the top.
9. The water in the water tank must be changed at least once a week in order to
prevent lime-scale and algae build-up. For hygienic reasons we recommend
changing the water several times a week.
10. Note: For technical reasons, a little water will always remain under the water
tank. To remove this residual water, when the water tank is empty, switch on
the misting function, until the residual water is also used up.
11. When using the misting function, ensure that the appliance is never placed
directly in front of pieces of furniture. The escaping mist can precipitate on
the surfaces of furniture and may damage the piece of furniture.
Attention: Never pour water directly into the appliance. Danger due to
electric shock!

TILT PROTECTION
1. The tilt protection circuit switches the appliance off, as soon as the appliance
tilts to a position, e.g. tips over, where safe operation is in jeopardy. E 3
appears in the display and a signal tone sounds 10x, before the appliance
switches off after 5 seconds.
2. As soon as the appliance is brought into the proper position, it goes into
stand-by mode and must be switched on again.
REMOTE CONTROL
1. Carefully pull the cover of the battery compartment out of the remote control
unit.
2. Insert two type AAA batteries into the intended holder. While doing so ensure
that the polarity is correct. For orientation, there are appropriate markings in
the battery compartment.
3. Carefully slide the cover back into the remote control unit.
4. If you adjust the appliance with the remote control unit, ensure that you hold
it in the direction of the fan heater while you are making the adjustments.
The remote control unit has a range of approx. 6 meters.
5. Tip: To store the remote control unit safely and in a space-efficient manner,
it can be slid into the handle on the underside of the appliance.
THE IDEAL LOCATION
1. Maintain an adequate safety distance (at least one meter) to other objects,
such as furniture, curtains, etc.
2. Do not set up the appliance in bathrooms or other wet rooms!
3. Only place the appliance in operation in a vertical position.
4. Ensure that air can flow in and out unhindered – do not, under any
circumstances, cover the air inlets and -outlets of the appliance.
5. Only place the appliance on a solid and level substrate. Do not place the
appliance on soft surfaces (sofa, bed) because the appliance can tip over.
6. In addition, ensure that the appliance is not set up on deep-pile carpets or
in dusty environments.

BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove all packaging materials and any transport safeguards. Keep
packaging materials away from children – danger of suffocation!
2. Check whether all listed parts are present and intact. If this is not the case,
contact our customer service department.
3. Comply with all instructions that are specified in the chapter, “The ideal
location”, and choose a suitable location.
4. When using the appliance for the first time, or if it has not been operated for
an extended period of time, a slight odour can occur.
7. For safety reasons, the appliance must not be used in the vicinity of sinks,
bathtubs, or water connections.
8. Never place the appliance directly under an electrical outlet, and ensure
that the power socket used is easily accessible at all times.
9. Check whether the power cord is routed in such a manner that no one can
stumble over it.
10. The power cord should not touch any housing parts, this could cause the
cable to melt.
Be aware that the appliance can become very hot – danger of burn injuries!
Particularly ensure that children are kept away from the appliance.

OPERATION
1. Ensure that the appliance is standing on a suitable, level substrate, and has
been set up so that it is safe and stable in the vicinity of an electrical outlet.
Also comply with all other instructions in the chapter, „The ideal location“.
2. If you want to set up the appliance at a different location, first switch off
the appliance, if necessary let it cool down, and then unplug the power plug
from the electrical outlet.
3. Do not insert any objects into the appliance.
4. Plug the mains plug of the appliance into an electrical outlet (220–240 V~
50 Hz). Ensure that the capacity of the electrical outlet that is used does
not exceed 10 A.
5. A signal tone indicates that the appliance has been connected to the mains
supply and that it is in stand-by mode. Then the front cover opens and
closes again.
6. The symbol
appears in the display to show that the appliance is connected
to the mains supply.
7. Press the ON/OFF button .
8. First the appliance runs with the settings that were made most recently,
then the front cover opens.
9. Now select the desired mode of operation:
Heating, cooling, and humidifying
10. Heating: Press the button, to go into heating mode. Press the button
again, to change between a lower and higher heating capacity or the
intelligent mode. In intelligent mode, the factory-set temperature of 26 °C
is maintained by automatically switching the heating function On/Off. If the
room temperature is over 26 °C, the symbol flashes for 15 seconds,
then the appliance switches itself off. If the room temperature is below 2 °C,
the appliance starts heating again. The preset temperature in intelligent
mode cannot be changed. If you input temperatures in intelligent mode, the
appliance changes over to normal heating mode.
11. In heating mode, use the + and – buttons to select the desired temperature
within a range from 5°C to 35°C; however the desired temperature must
be above the actual room temperature). Each selected temperature will be
shown for 1 minute.
12. Ventilation: Press the button to switch to ventilator mode. Press the
button again to choose between low speed, medium speed or high speed.

Likewise via the + and – buttons you can change between the levels. The
selected level, 1, 2 or 3 is shown in the display.
13. Misting function: Briefly press the button to switch on the misting function.
The appliance will then distribute a fine water mist when ventilating or when
heating. The symbol lights up in the display.
14. Press this button again to switch off the misting function.
15. Note: The desired effect works best in dry heat. If the environment is quite
muggy, the mugginess may increase due to the misting.
Timer
16. The runtime for the appliance can be selected via the button. Runtime
can be set between 1 and 24 hours, in 1-hour increments. Press the
button again. Now use the + and – buttons to select the desired number of
hours and confirm the input with . If you do not confirm the input, the
set time will be stored, nonetheless.
17. After the set time elapses the appliance switches off automatically. If you
do not make a time setting, the appliance will run continuously. Now, for 1
minute the temperature (in heating mode) or level (in ventilator mode) will
be shown alternating with the set time. To delete the preset time, press the
button for 3 - 4 seconds, or select runtime 0 with the + and – minus
buttons.
18. Note: If during this runtime you switch from heating mode to ventilation
mode, for example, the set runtime remains intact.
Display lighting
19. If you do not make an input within several seconds, all displays (except
the power indicator), as well as the currently selected function (heating
or ventilation) will go out. Press any button, except the On/Off button, to
switch on the display lighting, you cannot make inputs via the buttons until
this has been done.
20. To manually switch the display lighting on or off, press the and
buttons simultaneously for approx. 5 seconds.
Lamella oscillation
21. Press the button, to switch on the oscillation. The lamella on the air
outlet move back and forth and thus ensure a uniform air distribution.
Oscillation can be selected in heating mode or fan mode.
Button lock
22. Press the button for 3 seconds to prevent all buttons from being
operated unintentionally. Thereafter button inputs cannot be made. Via the

Switch off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
Allow the appliance to cool completely.
Never immerse the appliance in water. The motor or electrical
components of the appliance must not get wet.
1. Never use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot
cleaning agents or disinfectants.
2. Wipe off the housing and grille of the appliance with a slightly damp cloth.
3. The water in the water tank must be changed at least once a week in order to
prevent lime-scale and algae build-up. For hygienic reasons we recommend
changing the water several times a week.
CLEANING AND CARE
On/Off button the appliance can still be switched off, however it cannot be
switched back on again (to do this, the function must first be deactivated
as described below).
23. Press the button again for 3 seconds, to switch off the locking function and
in order to use all buttons as usual.
24. Note: The locking function may already have been switched on as soon as
the appliance is connected to the mains power, however it cannot have been
switched on via the On/Off button.
Switching off
25. Press the ON/OFF button

26. If the ventilation function was switched on, the front cover will now close
slowly, then the appliance switches off.
27. If the heating function was switched on, the switch-off countdown appears
in the display. The display indicator counts down 15 seconds, in this period
of time the appliance cools down somewhat, then the front cover closes
slowly and the appliance switches itself off.
The appliance is very hot during and after operation – danger of
burn injuries!

4. If the appliance will not be used for an extended period of time, the excess
water must be drained from the appliance. In this regard comply with all
instructions in the chapter „Water tank“///.
5. You can remove the filter for cleaning by opening the securing screw with
a Phillips head screw driver. Take out the filter and carefully remove dust
and lint from the filter. Re-attach the dry, clean filter on the appliance and
refasten the screw.
Storage
6. Store the appliance in a dry, safe place so that it is protected from dust,
impact, heat and moisture.
7. At air temperatures under 0°C, any residual water must be drained from the
appliance, otherwise frost damage can occur on the appliance.
8. The power cord can be safely stowed by means of the cable storage element
on the rear of the appliance, underneath the water tank. Press on the two

Cause
E 0 Electronic communications error. Contact our customer
service organization.
E 1 Short circuit of the temperature sensor. Contact our cus-
tomer service organization.
E 2 Electronic error of the temperature sensor. Contact our
customer service organization.
E 3 Tilt protection (a signal tone sounds 10x, after 5 seconds
the appliance switches itself off). Bring the appliance
back into a safe standing position, before switching it on.
F 2 Temperature switch malfunction. Contact our customer
service organization.
F F The ambient temperature is above 50 °C. Do not place
the appliance back in service, until after the ambient
temperature has dropped.
If this symbol is ashing, there is insufcient water in
the water tank. Top up the water tank with water.
OVERHEATING PROTECTION CIRCUIT
1. The appliance is equipped with a double overheating protection circuit that
switches the appliance off when it heats up over 70° C.
2. If the overheating protection circuit has been tripped, switch the appliance
off, unplug the plug from the electrical outlet and let the appliance cool for
at least 30 minutes.
3. Eliminate the cause of the overheating, (e.g. excessive dust in the appli-
ance, air outlet grille is covered) and start up the appliance again.
4. If after eliminating the cause, you still cannot switch the appliance back
on, or if the overheating protection circuit switches on without an apparent
reason, contact our customer service organisation.

GUARANTEE CONDITIONS
We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the
date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been
used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workman-
ship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany
and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of
defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged, together with a copy of the
automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect.
You can print out a return receipt on our website www.unold.de/ruecksendung. (only for entries from Germany
and Austria). The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply
with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the
appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
WASTE DISPOSAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance
and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an
appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions
for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please
bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic prod-
ucts. By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources
and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment.
Do not dispose of used batteries as household waste. Dispose of this product via
your appliance dealer or take it to the municipal collection point.
