Neversuckupwateroranyotherliquid.Neversuckupammablesubstancesanddonotsuck
upashesuntiltheyarecold.
Donotpointthehose,thetubeoranyotheraccessoryattheeyesorearsnorputitinyour
mouth when it is connected to the vacuum cleaner and the vacuum cleaner is switched on.
Whenyouusethevacuumcleanertovacuumashes,nesand,lime,cementdustandsimilar
substances, the pores of the dustbag become clogged. As a result, the dustbag-full indicator will
indicatethatthedustbagisfull.Replacethedustbag,evenifitisnotfullyet(seechapter
‘Replacement’).
Never use the appliance without the Motor Protection Filter. This could damage the motor and
shorten the life of the appliance.
OnlyusePhilipss-bag

Preparing for use
Hose
1 Toconnectthehose,pushitrmlyintotheappliance(‘click’)(Fig.2).
2 Todisconnectthehose,pushthebuttonsandpullthehoseoutoftheappliance(Fig.3).
Tri-Scopic tube
1 Toconnectthetubetothehandgrip,pressthespring-loadedlockbuttononthehandgrip
andinsertthehandgripintothetube.Fitthespring-loadedlockbuttonintotheopeningin
thetube(‘click’)(Fig.4).
2 Todisconnectthetubefromthehandgrip,pressthespring-loadedlockbuttonandpullthe
handgripoutofthetube.
3 Adjustthetubetothelengthyoundmostcomfortableduringvacuuming.Pressoneofthe
twocollarsdownwardsandpullthetubepartabovethecollarupwardsorpushit
downwards(Fig.5).
Keepthetubeawayfromyourfacewhenyouextendit.Thetubeisverylong.
Tri-Active nozzle
1 ToconnectanddisconnecttheTri-Activenozzle,usethesamemethodasforthetube.
TheTri-Activenozzleisamulti-purposenozzleforcarpetsandhardoors(Fig.6).
Thesidebrushescatchmoredustanddirtatthesidesofthenozzleandallowyoutocleanbetter
along furniture and other obstacles.
Theopeningatthefrontofthenozzleallowsyoutovacuumlargerparticles(Fig.7).
2 Hardoorsetting:pushtherockerswitchontopofthenozzlewithyourfoottomakethe
brushstripcomeoutofthehousing.Atthesametime,thewheelisliftedtoprevent
scratchingandtoincreasemanoeuvrability(Fig.8).
3 Carpetsetting:pushtherockerswitchagaintomakethebrushstripdisappearintothe
nozzlehousing.Thewheelisloweredautomatically(Fig.9).

1 Toconnectthecrevicenozzle(1),thesmallnozzle(2)orthebrushnozzle(3),usethesame
methodasforthetube.(Fig.10)
Connectthenozzlesdirectlytothehandgripofthehoseortothetube.
Accessory holder
Theaccessoryholdercanbesnappedontothehandgrip(Fig.11).
Tostorenozzlesintheaccessoryholder,pushthemintotheholder.Todetachtheaccessories,pull
them out of the holder.
Youcanstoretwoaccessoriesatatimeintheaccessoryholder:
Crevice nozzle and small nozzle (Fig. 12).
Pleasenotehowthesmallnozzlemustbeplacedintheaccessoryholder.

Using the appliance

Pullthecordoutoftheapplianceandputthemainspluginthewallsocket.
2 Presstheon/offbuttonontopoftheappliancewithyourfoottoswitchonthe
appliance(Fig.14).
Infrared remote control (specic types only)
1 Placethebatteriesinthebatterycompartment(Fig.15).
Makesurethe-and+polespointintherightdirection.
Withtheinfraredremotecontrol,youcansetthesuctionpowertooneof5differentsuction
powersettings.Whenyouswitchontheappliance,italwaysstartsrunningatthehighestsuction
power setting.
Toreducethesuctionpowerbyonesetting,pressthe-button(Fig.16).
Toincreasethesuctionpowerbyonesetting,pressthe+button(Fig.17).
2 Pressthestandbybuttontoswitchoffthevacuumcleanertemporarily,forinstancewhen
youhavetomovesomefurniture.(Fig.18)
3 Tocontinuevacuumcleaning,pressthestandbybuttonagain.Theappliancethenstarts
operatingatthepreviouslyselectedsuctionpowersettingagain.
Adjusting suction power
Duringvacuumcleaning,youcanadjustthesuctionpowerwiththeknobontopofthe
appliance. (Fig. 19)
Ifyourappliancehasaremotecontrol,youcanadjustthesuctionpowerwiththe+and-
buttons.Seesection‘Infraredremotecontrol(specictypesonly)’.
Usemaximumsuctionpowertovacuumcleanverydirtycarpetsandhardoors.
Use minimum suction power to vacuum clean curtains, table carpets, etc.
Parking the tube
Ifyouwanttopauseforamoment,inserttheridgeonthenozzleintotheparkingslottopark
the tube in a convenient position (Fig. 20).
Replacing the dustbag
Alwaysunplugtheappliancebeforeyoureplacethedustbag.
Replacethedustbagassoonasthedustbag-fullindicatorhaschangedcolourpermanently,i.e.
evenwhenthenozzleisnotplacedontheoor(Fig.21).
1 Pullthecoverupwardstoopenit(Fig.22).
2 Liftthedustbagholderoutoftheappliance(Fig.23).
Makesureyouholdthedustbaguprightwhenyouliftitoutoftheappliance.
3 Pullatthecardboardtagtoremovethefulldustbagfromtheholder(Fig.24).
Thedustbagissealedautomatically.
4 Slidethecardboardfrontofthenewdustbagintothetwogroovesofthedustbagholderas
faraspossible.(Fig.25)
5 Reinsertthedustbagholderintothevacuumcleaner.
Note:If you have not inserted a dustbag, you cannot close the cover.

Super/Ultra Clean Air HEPA Filter
ThisapplianceisequippedwitheithertheSuperCleanAirHEPAFillterortheUltraCleanAirHEPA
Filter.Theseltersarelocatedinthebackoftheappliance.Theyareabletoremove99.5%and
99.9%,respectively,ofallparticlesdownto0.0003mminsizefromtheoutletair.Thisnotonly
includes normal house dust, but also harmful microscopic vermin such as dust mites and their
excrements,whicharewell-knowncausesofrespiratoryallergies.
ReplacetheHEPAFiltereverysixmonths.

opposite direction.

Perhapsthebatteriesdonotmakepropercontactorhavenotbeeninsertedintheproperway.
Removethelidofthebatterycompartmentandpushthebatteriesbackintoplace.Makesurethat
the-and+polespointintherightdirection.
Thebatteriesmaybeempty.
Replace the batteries.
