INSTALLATION
WARNING
This product is intended for industrial use. In a domestic environment this prod -
uct may cause radio interference. It is the users responsibility to take adequate
precautions.
The standard version of LTL 315 is configured for 400V 50/60 Hz, but a special ver -
sion or version with auto--transformer may also be configured for other mains sup-
plies (230/400/415/500 V).
Variant:
1. 230/415/500V--50Hz
2. 208/230/460/475V--60Hz
bt03c001
1. Check that the r ectifier is configured for the correct mains voltage and is con-
nected to the correct mains supply.
2. The power cable fitted to the power source is rated for a supply voltage of 400V
or higher. If the machine is connected to a 230V supply or if a longer power
cable is required then a cable with a higher rating should be fitted.
3. Welding cable used for MMA welding and return cable used for TIG/MMA weld-
ing should have a conducting area of at least 35 m m@.
To reduce the voltage drop when using extra long welding cables it may be
necessary to choose a cable with a larger cross--section. Make sure that all
cables and connections are properly installed.

POTENTIOMETER K57.l
Used to adjust welding current 5--315 ampere.
POTENTIOMETER K78.3
Used to adjust slope down time 0.1--10 sec, during which the current is gradually re-
duced from the set value to the minimum current. This helps prevent the formation of
pipes and crater cracking.
POTENTIOMETER K78.4
Used to adjust slope up time 0.1--1 0 sec, during which the current is gradually in-
creased from the minimum current to the set current. This helps eliminate tungsten
inclusions from the weld pool.
POTENTIOMETER K78.2
Used to adjust the gas pre--flow time 0.1--5.0 sec.
POTENTIOMETER K78.1
Used to adjust the gas post--flow time 0.1--25 sec. The long post --flow time means
that the power source is well suited for welding metals that form strongly adhering
oxides, such as titanium.
SWITCH K79
For switching between TIG and MMA and for choosing the start mode.

TIG
HF--START. When torch trigger is pressed the gas begins to
flow, HF unit is activated, creating a spark between the elect-
rode and work piece, the gas is ionised and the arc ignites.
ONCE ARC IS STABLE HF unit switches off automatically.
TIG
LIFT--ARC. The arc is ignited by touching the electrode to the
work piece, pressing the torch trigger and raising the torch
slightly.
MMA--“normal start“. In this mode the machine is set up for
welding with coated electrodes. The HF unit and
LIFT--ARC unit are disconnected and the HOT--START
unit is activated. HOT--START produces a short current pulse

MAINTENANCE
LTL 315 normally requires no maintenance, all that is required is to blow it clean
once a year using dry compressed air (note: must be at reduced pressure).
In dusty or dirty conditions the machine should be blown clean more often.
Replacing circuit cards
To replace a circuit card, separate the connectors and lift out the circuit card after
pressing in the r etaining lugs. To fit a new circuit card, first push the card into position
then join the connectors.
NOTE! It is extremely important that the connectors are connected the right way
round and in their original positions.
IMPORTANT NOTE . . . All service work should normally be carried out by an AU-
THORISED ESAB SERVICE ENGINEER.
Ordering spare parts
Spare parts can be ordered through your nearest ESAB representative. See the last
