Formatting the HDD
The DX4104 Series DVR automatically detects when a new HDD is installed. It also detects when a current
HDD is switched to a different SATA connector. After the unit starts, you are prompted to format the newly
installed or existing HDD. HDDs that have not been switched to a different SATA connector are not
reformatted.
To format the HDD:
1. Connect the power cord from the power adapter to a power source.
2. Connect the power adapter to the rear panel. After a few seconds, the DX4104 startup screen
appears.
3. Wait until the “New hard disk drive found” dialog box appears.
Figure 14. New Hard Disk Drive Found Dialog Box
4. Click the OK button. After the formatting process is completed, the “Hard disk drive recovery
complete” dialog box appears.
5. Click the OK button. The unit will return to operation.
For information about configuring the HDD partition, refer to the DX4104 Server Operation/Configuration
manual.
WARNING: Formatting an HDD deletes all data. Verify that the data is no longer needed before
formatting an HDD.
