Recommended Warnings, Cautions and Operating Instructions
WARNING: “These lamps can cause serious skin burn and eye inflammation
from short wave ultraviolet radiation. Radiation from these lamps is harmful to
the eyes and skin. Do not use where people will remain for more than a few
minutes unless adequate shielding or other safety precautions are used.
The UV-C radiation output of these lamps is
indicated by the following warning sign:
CAUTION:To reduce the risk of personal injury, wear protective
eyewear when you are in close proximity to these lamps. Failure
to do so may result in severe burns and long-term injury to eyes.
Installations with these lamps are to be screened off completely.

Lamp Technology
The Philips Germicidal T5 G64 Sterilamp is the first germicidal lamp in the
industry to pass the federal EPA’s TCLP test for low mercury level and can be
characterized as non-hazardous waste.
Philips pioneered the low mercury technology for general lighting T8 fluorescent
lamps under the designation of ALTO. As an ongoing initiative to reduce
mercury levels in arc-discharge lamps, Philips has expanded the ALTO family of
lamps to include the popular low pressure G64 T5 germicidal types commonly
used in air and water disinfection applications.
