IP Address.

(RDP) from your laptop

8 Configuring the Router for Remote Access to iHome
1. If using the recommended LAN configuration with VPN router, follow
instructions supplied with VPN router. Normally, allow the use of the remote
client machines to connect using the VPN Client software included with MS
Windows XP. There are 2 distinct advantages in using this method for remote
access. (a) it is secure (b) once connected, you are on the clients LAN which
makes file transfer very simple.
2. If not using a VPN router, you will need to open the following ports on the
firewall: 3389 for RDP, 21 for FTP, 8180 and 8888 for the iHome web server.
This is not a recommended approach as it is not secure and requires FTP for file
transfer.
9 Setting up a Dynamic DNS account
Go to http://www.dyndns.org/services/dns/dyndns/howto.html and follow instructions
provided to set up a free dynamic DNS URL for your customer. With this URL, you will
be able to access your customer’s iHome by name regardless of the IP address currently
assigned by your customer’s ISP.
10 Authorizing iHome with your customer’s iTunes
store account
1. While connected to iHome select the iTunes currently running on the iHome.
2. Go to the music store and create an account for your customer if he does not
already have one.
3. Purchase a song from the iTunes store.
4. Go to the Purchased Music playlist and attempt to play the purchased song.
iTunes will prompt you to authorize the computer. Authorize using your
customer’s account.

11 Pre-Populating the Music Library
There are a number of ways to pre-populate iHome.
11.1 Ripping CDs
1. Make sure iTunes is set to “Import CD and Eject” on CD Insert. Use Remote
Desktop and check iTunes Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Importing page.
2. Insert CD.
3. When CD is ejected, insert the next CD.
11.2 Copy Existing iTunes Library from your customer’s PC
1. Establish Remote Desktop connection to iHome from your laptop.
2. Shut down the Form1 application currently running. This will shutdown the
music players and iTunes. iTunes will ask you to confirm shutdown. If it does
not, manually shut it down.
3. Using windows explorer copy your customer’s iTunes Music directory usually
found on their machine under C:\Documents and Settings\<their user name>\My
Documents\My Music\iTunes to C:\Documents and Settings\installer\My
Documents\My Music\iTunes on the iHome. You may need to make their My
Music folder sharable if it isn’t already so.
4. Using Notepad or WordPad, edit the C:\Documents and Settings\installer\My
Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml file now on the iHome.
5. Replace all occurrences of the user’s name in that file with “installer”.
6. Verify that iTunes recognizes all the new content by starting the
cvx_iTunesServiceWinApp under Start/All Programs/StartUp and checking that
iTunes has the new library loaded.
