Caution
Please read this installation manual carefully and be sure to comply with the instructions in
this manual before installing and using this unit!
For this product, the following standards apply:
GB/T 18837-2002 JB 8655-1997 GB 4706.1-2005
Preparation before installation
Please have a qualifi ed licensed professional technician handle the installation of this unit. Users
may not install, repair or displace the air conditioner by themselves;
Please have a licensed professional electrician handle the power wiring, and inspect safety in
utilizing electricity, such as suf ciency of line capacity, damage of power line, etc.;
Please be sure to install the air conditioning unit according to this manual. In the case of any
improper installation, water leakage, electric shock or fi re may be caused.
Precautions during installation
Location where the air conditioner should not be installed:
Avoid where infl ammable gas or volatile combustible matter is likely to leak (e.g., gasoline,
Ř
combustible dust, etc.), or fi re may be caused.
Avoid where acid, alkaline matter or corrosive gas might be generated, or susceptibility to
Ř
corrosion of the unit may be caused, and lead to leakage of refrigerants;
Avoid where dust, steam, oil fume or special spraying agent diffuses, e.g. kitchen, etc.
Ř
A special circuit should be provided, and it must accord with ĐEngineering specifi cation for
electrical equipmentsđ and ĐSpecifi cation for indoor electrical wiringđ.
The unit must be earthed properly. Be sure to connect the earth wire to the ground reliably. Do
not connect the earth wire to water or gas pipes, or telephone wire.
Please use the power line having suf cient current capacity and rated power, and the line may
not be tightened excessively.
Fix the power line fi rmly so that external force may not be applied to the terminal block.
If connection or fi xing is unsecured, the generated heat will lead to electric shock or fi re.
The electrical parts of the unit shall be damp-proofed, apart from water source. Do not install the
wired controller where easy to contact the infl ammable gas, sulphurous gas, machine oil, etc.
The drainage pipe must be installed according to those specifi ed in this manual to ensure smooth
draining. Heat insulation should be done to prevent generating condensate water.
If being installed in a relatively small room, relevant measures must be taken to prevent
concentration of refrigerants in the room exceeding limit value in case of leakage.
During installation, if secondary refrigerants leak, ventilation is required. The leaked refrigerants
will generate poisonous gas in case of being fi red.
After completion of installation, tightness test shall be performed for the pipes. Inspect where air
leakage exists.
Be sure to use the R410A specialized tools and accessories for the air conditioning unit that
R410A refrigerants are used.

Precautions
Be sure to take out the indoor unit from the packing case. When handling the air conditioner,
please hold the stress area of the air conditioner, such as lifting lug etc., not the steam pipe,
liquid pipe or drainage pipe;
Select the place where a relatively short duct is used, the quantity of connecting work is minor
and it is convenient to wire and couple the pipe, and connect with indoor unit;
Make sure that the bearing strength of the installation site is enough to undertake the weight of
the indoor unit; or else, unit damage or personal injury may be caused;
Make sure that the strength of the hoisting screw is suffi cient to withstand the weight of the
unit, and at least 4 ones should be used;
Ensure good ventilation so that the air fl ow can be blown throughout the room;
Obstruct should be put away from the air inlet or outlet so that the air may be circulated freely;
Make sure that there are enough space for service and maintenance. The access door is located
at the side of the electrical control box so as to be convenient for service and maintenance;
Install the indoor unit at a place where is apart from the lighting facilities using ballasts. When
operating the wireless remote controller, the ballast can lead to receiving failure;
Keep the indoor unit far from direct sunlight.
Installation of the concealed indoor unit
Hang the unit up on a fi rm and horizontal support such as the ceiling. In case that the hoisting 1.

Preparation and installation of air duct
Precautions
When designing the air duct, please design the air channel according to the external static
pressure of the unit. The resistance of the air channel is equal to the static pressure; otherwise,
the air volume may be too large or small, resulting in failure of unit operation;
Make sure that the distance between the indoor return air opening and air inlet of the heat
exchanger is greater than or equal to 1 m;
Rational design of the air duct may eliminate noise effectively;
Make the external static pressure balanced with the duct resistance by changing the rotating
speed of the fan or regulating the resistance of the air duct (e.g., by adjusting the air-out speed of
the diffuser);
An insulating layer should be provided to reduce energy loss during transmission and separation
of condensate water;
The return air duct and air outlet duct should be fi xed to the precast slab of the fl oor with iron
stands, and all joints of the air duct should be sealed with sealant;
The distance between the wall and return air duct or air outlet duct is greater than or equal to
150 mm.
Installation of the return air duct
When bottom return air is selected, fold a piece of canvas duct purchased or self-made, use it
as the transition joint between the return air opening and return air grille, make free regulation
depending on the height of the indoor ceiling, and prevent vibration of the ceiling during
operation of the unit.
When bottom return air is selected, prepare the return air duct, connect its one end to the return
air opening of the indoor unit with rivets, and another end to the return air grille, as shown in
following fi gures

Installation of air outlet duct
The air outlet duct may be rectangle or round: rectangle duct may be connected directly to the
air outlet of the indoor unit with rivets; round duct should be connected to the air outlet of the
indoor unit after adding a transition duct, and another end may be separate or be connected to
the air outlet grille, as shown in following fi gure:
Fan speed of each grille shall be uniform basically so as to meet the air conditioning requirement

Cutting of the pipe should be carried out by using a pipe cutter. If the pipe size is too large, a
metal cut saw may be used, but prevent saw dust entering into the pipe;
Only the fl are nut attached to the unit may be used. Before fl aring, fi rst mount the nut on the
copper tube;
Check whether there are damages on the fl ared surface. After the mouth of the copper tube is
ared, keep concentric. Burr, cracks, folding, etc. are not allowed;
When coupling the fl are opening, apply ester oil or ether oil to inner and outer surfaces of the
opening, and fi rst screw the nut by 3 ~ 4 turns;
Tighten the fl are nut by a proper torque, but do not damage the nut because of excessive torque.

Installation of refrigerant pipe
Welding of refrigerant pipe
Make downward or fl at lateral welding, and avoid overhead welding as possible;
For liquid or gas pipes, be sure to care the assembling direction and angle, and avoid refrigerant
short circuit or oil accumulation;
While welding, the allowed method to replacing nitrogen:
Nitrogen protection soldering must be used. During the welding, it is necessary to fi ll

2
nitrogen in the fi tting pipe to prevent system blockage due to the oxide
generated in welding;
After fi nishing the welding, cool naturally or by purging nitrogen, but cold water spraying is
Ř
not allowed to avoid crack generation of the crater because of shock chilling.
Try to reduce the number of bends. When bending the pipe, the bending radius should be as
large as possible;
Standard space for supports of the pipe is as follows:
Nitrogen
Manual valve

Welding zone
Pressure regulato
Nitrogen cylinder
Pressure hose
Pipe size 20 mm below 20 ~ 45 mm 45 mm above
Max. interval (m) 1.0 1.5 2.0
Purging of refrigerant pipe
During erecting and constructing the fi tting pipe, it is hard to avoid dust, water vapor entering the
pipe. Therefore, after completion of fi tting pipe construction, it is necessary to purge the pipe with
nitrogen.

Indoor unit
Interface not connected temporarily.
Cover the interface of the indoor unit with adhesive tape
The gas used for purging must be nitrogen. The nitrogen cylinder should be equipped with a
pressure regulator valve.
Connect the pressure regulator valve to the inlet of the outdoor unit at the side of liquid pipe with
a gas pipe.
Block well all interfaces of the copper tube at the liquid side with blind plugs except those for the
indoor unit A.
Switch on the nitrogen cylinder, and adjust the valve to 5 Kgf/cm2.
Check whether the nitrogen passes through the liquid pipe to indoor unit A. (The interface at the
side of the indoor unit should be covered with adhesive tape to prevent dirt entering.)
AMS-SVX04A-EN 15
Installation of refrigerant pipe
Purging:
Sustain the liquid pipe of the indoor unit with the insulating material in the hand.a.
When it is incapable to resist due to change of pressure, remove the insulating material b.
quickly, and make the nitrogen blow off fast from the pipe mouth (fi rst purging).
Then resist the pipe mouth with the insulating material (second purging).c.
Place a piece of clean cloth in front of the mouth, the nitrogen is ejected onto the cloth, and d.
dirt contained in the high-speed nitrogen is found. If the cloth becomes wet, it indicates that
water exists in the pipe. Repeat purging till no dirt is blown off and the cloth does not be
wet.
For indoor unit B, repeat the above mentioned operation.
After fi nishing working on the liquid pipe, carry out the aforesaid purging for the gas pipes.
Leakage detection and heat insulation of refrigerant pipe
After construction of the fi tting pipe fi nishes, a tightness test should be applied to the whole
refrigerating system (indoor unit and pipe). Fill the nitrogen to a specifi c pressure (R410A model
– 38 Kgf/cm
2
) simultaneously from both sides of the gas and liquid pipes, view whether there is
change of pressure, check whether each interface (welding or fl ared) and the whole system have
good tightness, and see if there have leakage sources.
Caution: when the air temperature at the time of pressurization is different from that at the time
of observation, correction should be carried out according to the following equation:
Actual value = Pressure at the time of pressurization + (Temperature at the time of pressurization
Temperature at the time of observation)ġ0.1 Kgf/cm
2
If no gas leakage is detected, insulate the fi tting pipe with heat insulating material. The gas pipe
and liquid pipe need insulating respectively.

Precautions
Before connecting the drainage pipe, fi rst dismount the drain plug on the left or right side of the
bottom plate;
The condensate pipe should be as short as possible drains in run-off elevation (under way), avoid
the drainage pipe up and down, and prevent counter fl ow of the condensate water;
A 1/100 or more gradient should be provided for installation of the horizontal drainage pipe.
Moreover, the hose should be fi xed with suspension rods, and the distance between them is 1.0
to 1.5 m.
Distance between the suspension rods of the horizontal drainage pipe:
Material Nominal diameter Distance
Hard PVC pipe 25 ~ 40 mm Less than 1.5 m
Connection of drainage pipe
Without drainage pump:
Never install the drainage pipe upwards, or water may fl ow back to the machine.

With drainage pump:
The draining height outside the unit may not exceed 500 mm, or else water leakage may be
caused;
First raise the drainage pipe by 300 ~ 500 mm, then down to 20 mm at least.

Drainage testing
Check the smoothness of drain after installation. Check the drain state by fi lling about 2 L water
into the drain pan of the indoor unit as shown in the following fi gure;
Set up the model of the drainage pump, run the unit in cooling mode, and check pumping;
Check the drain at the end of the drainage pipe. Make sure that the condensate water drains
smoothly, and no water leakage exists.
After completion of testing, insulate the condensate pipe.

Electrical control wiring
Concealed type indoor unit
Remove the electrical control box lid of the concealed type indoor unit, pull wires inside through 1.
incoming hole at the side of the control box, and connect live wire L to terminal 1, neutral line N
to terminal 2, earthing wire to copper earthing screw. Be sure to wire properly according to the
unit wiring diagram, and ensure fi rm connection.
Pull communication lines from other indoor unit or outdoor unit inside through the incoming hole 2.
at the side, and connect to CN4/CN5 terminals of the controller based on following relation:
RS485 wire sequence A B Shielding layer
CN4/CN5 terminal A B G
When matching the wired controller, pull communication line from the wired controller inside 3.
through the incoming hole at the side of the control box, and connect to CN3 terminal of the
controller.
After fi nishing the above wiring, close the junction box lid.4.
Precautions:
All wiring should comply with the local laws and regulations; 1.
It is suggested that power line ≥ 1.5 mm2.
2
. If electric heater is provided for the unit, the
specifi cation for power line should be improved accordingly;
It is suggested that conductors provided by Trane factory is used for the communication lines of 3.
the indoor and outdoor units. The shield twisted pair is 0.5 ~ 1.25 mm
2
, twist pitch is less than 10
cm;
Control signal has A and B polarities. Connection of different polarities is prohibited (A and B may 4.
not be connected);
While the power line is laid in parallel with the communication line, a certain distance must be 5.
retained.
Wired controller
Supporting rack of the wired controller base plate is shown in following fi gure. When being 1.
installed, the base plate must be fl ush with the wall surface.
