to a failure to comply with these instructions.
1. General safety regulations
A. WORK AREA
• Keep your work area clean and tidy.
Never start to use the tool until you have a clear work area and sufficient
lighting, as an untidy work area and dim lighting can lead to serious accidents.
• Do not use this tool in a potentially explosive environment containing
combustible liquids, gases or dust.
Electric tools generate sparks, which could ignite dust or vapours.
• Keep children and other persons away from the electric tool while it is
being operated.
Always operate the tool with your full attention, as failure to do so can result
in a loss of control of the tool.
B. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
To prevent electric shocks the following safety points must be observed:
• The plug of the tool must be plugged directly into the mains power supply. If
the plug does not fit into the power socket do not attempt to modify the plug,
and never use a plug adaptor.
• Avoid touching earthed surfaces, such as pipes/tubes, heaters, cookers and
refrigerators when using the unit.
• Do not use the unit during rainfall and keep it out of wet and moist conditions.
• Be careful not to damage the power cable and never carry the tool by the
power cable, hang up the tool by the cable, or pull on the cable when
removing the plug from the supply.
• Only use an extension cable with the tool that is approved for outdoor use.
• Connect the electric tool to the mains power supply (230V~, 50Hz) via a
socket-outlet with earthing contact will maximum 16A protection. We
recommend that you fit a residual-current protection device with a maximum
nominal tripping current of 30 MA. Seek the advice of your electrician.
D. CAREFUL HANDLING AND USE OF ELECTRIC TOOLS
• Do not use this tool if it has a defective power switch, as an electric tool that
can no longer be switched on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
Before making any adjustments to the tool, or changing accessories always
unplug it from the mains power supply first.
• When not in use, store this tool out of the reach of children.
• Make sure that you maintain the tool properly. For example, on a regular basis
check that the moving parts function properly and do not jam and that no
p
arts are broken or damaged. If any part of the tool is damaged make sure
that you have it repaired at your local hardware store.
• Keep the blades clean and sharp, as properly maintained blades with sharp
edges jam less frequently and are easier to use.
• Never use this tool for any application other than for that which it was
intended. To use this tool for any other purpose could result in serious injury.
• If the power cable of the electric tool is damaged, it must be replaced by your
local hardware store.
• This product is not intended for use by children, or by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or by persons lacking experience with
the product or knowledge of the product’s use, unless they have been given
supervision or instructions concerning the use of the product by a person
responsible for their safety.
• Do not operate using a separate timer or separate remote device.
2. Usage
The tiller is designed for private garden use including for preparing ground for
planting, or breaking up the soil in your borders and flowerbeds. For safe usage,
make sure you observe the safety restrictions. For safety reasons, the machine
may not be used as a drive unit for other work tools or tool sets of any kind.
3. Proper operation
Power supply
The machine can be connected to any 230-volt power socket-outlet. However,
the socket outlet must have an earthing contact protected by a 16A circuit
breaker. Additionally, a residual current device (RCD) circuit breaker with max.
30mA must be used.
Power cable for the device
When using a power cable with the tiller make sure that it has a cross-section of
3 x 1.5 mm, is not damaged, and in particular has a rubber-insulating sheath
that is in good condition. Please note that if the sheath is cracked or damaged it
could result in serious injury and you must not use the power cable. You must
also make sure that the power cable does not exceed 50 metres in length, as a
longer power cable will reduce the power output of the electric motor.
Cables, plugs and socket couplers must meet the following requirements:
The power cables must, at the very minimum, be of type HO5VV-F or HO5RN-F
and 3-stranded. The cable type must be printed somewhere on the power cable.
Only purchase power cables that are marked! Plugs and socket couplers for the
power cables must be splash proof. Power cables and connecting lines must be
regularly checked for damage. Ensure that the lines are de-energised before
c
hecking them. Completely unwind the power cable. Also check power cable
entry points, plugs and socket couplers for kinks.

. Assembly (Fig. 4-11)
Place the motor unit and the push bars on the ground in order of assembly
(Fig. 4).
Important!
Do not forget to slide the cable strain-relief clamp (Fig. 6 / ltem 5) over the
bottom push bar. Slide the bottom push bar on to the push bar holder and secure
the two components together (Fig. 5). Then secure the top push bar to the
bottom push bar (Fig.6). Install the 2-hand safety switch as shown in Fig. 7-10.
F
inally secure the cable using the supplied securing clips as shown in (Fig. 11 /
A).
Connect the power cable to the appliance as shown in (Fig. 12/ Item 1) and
secure it into position with the strain-relief clamp (Fig 12/ ltem 2).
Important!
To prevent accidental start-up of the machine, the push-bar (Fig. 13/ ltem 1) is
equipped with a two-point switch (Fig. 13/ ltem 2) which must be pressed before
the lever switch (Fig. 13/ ltem 3) can be pressed. If the lever switch is released,
the machine will switch off. Repeat this process several times so that you are
sure that the machine functions properly.
Before you perform any repair or maintenance work on the machine, ensure that
the hoe blades are not rotating and that the power supply is disconnected.
Always ensure that a safe distance (provided by the long handles) is maintained
between the machine and the user. Be especially careful when changing direction
on slopes and inclines.
Use caution when backing up and pulling the machine (tripping hazard). When
working on an incline work from side to side, not up and down.
5. Tips for correct operation
With the machine switched off, place it in front of the area you wish to hoe and
hold it securely on the push bar. Switch on the machine and guide the hoe blades
over the area in straight lines (to avoid bare strips) making sure the hoe blades
do not travel over the cable. When working on inclined areas work across the
slope and not up and down. When you arrive at the end of the area you wish to
hoe, need to change direction, or need to check the hoes blades make sure that
you switch off the machine first.
After use make sure the underside of the machine is clean and remove any soil
deposits, as debris makes it more difficult to start the machine and decreases the
working depth.
Important!
The hoe blades will continue to rotate for a few seconds after the motor is
switched off. Never attempt to manually stop them. In the event that the rotating
hoe blade strikes an object, immediately switch off the machine and wait for the
hoe blades to come to a complete stop, and then inspect the condition of the
hoe blades. If any parts of the tiller are damaged make sure that it is repaired
immediately.
