Troubleshooting Steps:
Ensure that the battery connection is secure.
1. Unplug the UPS from the wall
2. Turn-over the unit and remove the battery cover from the bottom
3. Gently pull-out the battery. It will have two wires connected to it (if the User had connected the
wires initially upon receiving the UPS).
4. Check to make sure that the connections are fully secure. They should be pushed forward so
that the receptacles overlay each other.
5. Replace the battery in its compartment and replace the battery cover.
6. Plug the cable into the wall and turn-on the UPS.
7. The power button should glow a steady green color.
Ensure that the power load is sufficient for the size UPS:
1. Connect the UPS to your computer using the supplied USB cable
2. Install Power chute software from www.apc.com/tools/download. Select “Software Upgrades -
Power Chute Personal Edition” in the “Filter by Software/Firmware” drop down menu. Select the
appropriate operating system. Follow directions to download the software.
3. Within Power chute software, click on ‘Current Status” to see the load on the UPS.
4. As you plug-in devices into the “Battery Backup & Surge” ports of the UPS, you will see the load
change, as well as “Estimated Battery Time.” If too many high-powered devices are plugged into these
ports, the software will give your real-time feedback so you can adjust the load to protect your most
critical devices.
Ensure that devices are connected to the right outlets
1. Visually inspect that devices requiring battery backup in the event of a power outage are
plugged into the 6 outlets labelled with “Battery + Surge”
2. The remaining 3 outlets provide surge protection only and will not be powered in the event of a
power outage.
