Gardenias can be planted outdoors in the garden but are most
often used as house plants and gift plants in the spring for the
Easter holiday and Mother’s Day. Gardenias are appreciated
for their compact and low growing stature as well as their
very glossy thick rounded green leaves and delicate white,
sweetly fragrant rose-like flowers. Good choice for indoors
with limited space. Gardenias originated in China and in the
Victorian era they were a symbol for secret love. Today they
are a popular gifting house plant. If USA zone appropriate, can
also be grown in the garden.
