1-1 BZMA-E555 Overview
The BZMA-E555 is a Windows 2000 compatible network program for the MAV-
555 and MAV-555A Multi Access Video Disk Recorders (henceforth referred to
as MAV). Use this program to display network MAV file information and perform
file management, as well as perform file transfers between MAV.

Gigabit Ethernet File Transfers
In this configuration, it is possible to connect up to 32 MAV to the network.
Add MAVE-F555, MAVE-D555, and BKNE-1011 (each sold separately) as
necessary.
Necessary Equipment
The following equipment (sold separately) is necessary to perform Ethernet
Gigabit transfers.
BKMA-550
BKMA-550 Gateway PC
1000 Base-SX Gigabit Ethernet Switch
1000 Base-SX Gigabit Ethernet Card
10/100 Base-T HUB with Gigabit

Chapter 2 Installation
2-1 Minimum System Requirements
Before installing BZMA-E555, make sure that your system meets the following
requirements.
Operating system: Windows 2000 SP2 or later
CPU: Pentium III 600 MHz or higher
Memory: 256 MB or higher
HDD: 10 GB or higher
Resolution: 1024
×
768 pixels or higher
Interface: 10/100 Base-T Ethernet
2-2 Installing BZMA-E555
Follow the procedure described below to install the BZMA-E555 program in a
PC.
For details about how to obtain the BZMA-E555 installation program, consult a
Sony sales representative or a Sony Service Center near you.

Log on to Windows 2000 as a user with Administrator access privileges.

Copy the BZMA-E555 installation program into a folder on your hard disk.

In the folder where it was copied, double-click “BZMA-E555.exe”.
The installation wizard starts.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the installation.
Note
The program files are installed in C://Program Files/Sony/BZMA-E555.

Note
When starting the BZMA-E555 for the first time after its installation, make sure
to log on to Windows 2000 as a user with Administrator access privileges.
To start BZMA-E555, double-click the BZMA-E555 icon on your desktop.
When starting the BZMA-E555 for the first time, the following dialog box
appears.
Enter the appropriate information in the [Serial No.] and [ID] boxes, and then
click [OK].
For more details about the serial number and ID, consult a Sony sales
representative or a Sony Service Center near you.
This procedure is only necessary the first time that you start the BZMA-E555. It
will not appear again.
3-2 Adding MAV to a Workgroup
To be able to access or operate an MAV on a network from the BZMA-E555, it is
necessary to add it to a workgroup. Including the target MAV, it is possible to add
up to 32 MAV to a workgroup.

To add an MAV to a workgroup

On the [MAV] menu, click [Add New MAV].
The Add New MAV dialog box appears.

Specify the appropriate information in the following text boxes.
[MAV Name]: The on-screen name of the MAV. This name can be
composed of a maximum of 8 alphanumeric characters,
excluding spaces and tab marks.
[IP Address]: The IP address of the MAV.
[GbE transfer]: To make Gigabit Ethernet transfers possible, select this
check box, and then specify the IP address of the computer
used for Gigabit Ethernet transfers connected to the MAV.
[Target]: To select the MAV as the target MAV, select this check
box.

When you are done, click [OK].
The dialog box closes and the MAV is added to the workgroup.
Target MAV
It is possible to control any MAV on the network with this program, but only one
at a time. The MAV selected to be the subject to BZMA-E555 control is called
the “target MAV”. When adding an MAV, if [Target] is selected in the Add New
MAV dialog box, that MAV becomes the target MAV. You can change target
MAV whenever necessary.
3-3 Changing Settings
After finishing initial setup and starting to use the BZMA-E555, it is possible to
modify settings or add new MAV to a workgroup, for example. For details refer
to the BZMA-E555 User’s Guide.
Refer to the User’s Guide for details about the following:
Adding MAV to a workgroup
Modifying an MAV drive name
Selecting a different target MAV
Deleting an MAV from a workgroup
