4400 SCSI Card
These instructions explain how to install a SCSI card on the Snap Server 4400.
Shutting Down the Server
Caution Shut down the server before you make any repairs. Improper shutdown may
lead to loss of data or physical harm.
1 To start the shutdown process, press the power button on the front of the server.
The green power LEDs remains lit until the
shutdown process is complete. Do not disconnect
the AC power cord while the LED remains lit.
2 After the power LED is off, disconnect the AC power cord from the back of the
server.
3 If you need to remove the server from a rack to access to the back panel,
disconnect the Ethernet cable(s).

Removing the Top Cover
1 Grasp the top cover placing the thumbs on the release latches and the fingers
along the edge of the cover.
2 Press the latches inward toward the center and slide the front edge of the top
cover back about 1 inch.
3 Lift off the cover and set it aside.
Installing the SCSI Card
1 Press the release lever down and forward to release it.

Using your thumb, slide the metal protective plate off as shown in the
illustration.
Put the protective plate in a safe place so you can use it to cover the hole if you
ever permanently remove the SCSI card.
3 Install the SCSI card.
Press firmly to until the card snaps into place, indicating that it is seated
properly in its slot. Avoid contact with metal surfaces on the card. Grasp or
press the edges only.
4 Pull the release lever back into place to secure the card.

Replacing the Cover
1 Lower the top cover onto the server so the front edge of the cover is about 1 inch
from the edge of the bezel.
Caution Be sure to replace the top cover. Do not operate the server without the
top cover in place.
2 Slide the front edge of the cover all the way forward until it snaps into place.
Restoring Power to the Server
1 If you disconnected the Ethernet cable(s), reattach them to the server.
2 Connect the power cord.
3 Press the power button on the front of the server.
