INSTRUCTIONS
SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING: We recommend that you store
your Aquascape 300-Watt Pond De-Icer
indoors, when not in use or after the winter
season. Inspect cord before using. Do not use extension
cords. Read all instructions carefully, before installation.
Take extreme caution when working on or near a frozen
pond. Never walk on thin ice.
CAUTION: To provide continued protection
against risk of electric shock, connect to
properly grounded outlets only, using the
following guidelines:
(A) Have a qualified electrician install a properly grounded
receptacle outlet, acceptable for outdoor use and
protected from snow and rain, immediately adjacent
to the location where the Aquascape 300-Watt Pond
De-Icer will be used
(B) Route supply cord and locate the heater so
as to be protected from damage by live stock
(C) Do not use extension cords
(D) Inspect cord before using
(E) Unplug Aquascape 300-Watt Pond De-Icer
at receptacle outlet when not in use or before
removal from pond
(F) Store Aquascape 300-Watt Pond De-Icer indoors
after winter season, or when not in use
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
STEP ONE: We recommend floating the Aquascape 300-
Watt Pond De-Icer over the deepest part of the pond. If
the ice is completely frozen, laying the heater on its side
will enable it to melt through the ice slowly. You may have
to adjust or reorient the heater in an upright position as it
starts to melt through the ice. Be patient, heater may take
several hours to completely melt through. Never break the
ice with force; the shock will stress fish and could cause
unnecessary fish loss. We recommend floating the heater
in the pond for about one hour before plugging in the unit,
allowing the unit to calibrate to the water temperature.
STEP TWO: Plug the electrical cord into a GFI-regulated
power receptacle. The indicator light will be red when the unit
is warm or heating and blue when it is cool or not heating.
CAUTION: When indicator light is red
the unit will be very hot. Do not touch unit
when indicator light is red. Make sure unit is
unplugged and given time to cool, before touching.
STEP THREE: In the springtime, or when heater is no
longer needed, unplug the unit and let sit in the pond for at
least one hour, to allow for proper cooling.
Prior to storing the unit, when not in use, we recommend
that you clean the outside surface with a mild acid, like white
vinegar, and then rinse thoroughly with clean tap water.
This will remove calcium deposits and will not damage the
stainless steel finish. Allowing calcium deposits to build up on
the unit may impede the thermostat from working correctly.

PleAse NOTe: If you are also using an
Aquascape aeration system in addition to the
Aquascape 300-Watt Pond De-Icer, place the
aerator or air stone beneath the De-Icer to increase the
degassing effect.
TROUBLESHOOTING
In the event that the Aquascape 300-Watt Pond
De-Icer should malfunction or fail to operate, please
check the following:
• Check to ensure that the unit is plugged in properly
• Make sure that the GFI-rated receptacle or ground fault
interrupter is operating properly
• Check to see that the LED light on the top of the unit is
indicating that the unit is heating. LED light will be red
when unit is heating. If the indicator LED light on top of the
unit is blue, the heater is in the off mode and not heating.
The LED indicator light and thermostat is a safety function
of the heater to prevent accidental burns. If not functioning
correctly you may need to reset the thermostat by
unplugging the heater, for approximately one hour, to allow
the heater to completely cool. When you plug in the heater
the LED indicator should turn red, indicating heating.
USING THE POND DE-ICER WITH
AN AQUASCAPE AERATION SYSTEM
PleAse NOTe: The thermostat on the heater
is set to turn off at 70°F or 21°C, the thermostat
or safety shut off is a safety feature and not
meant to turn off the heater when ice is not present.

RENSEIGNEMENTS DE SÉCURITÉ
AVeRTIsseMeNT : Nous recommandons de
ranger votre dégivreur de plan d’eau Aquascape
de 300 watts à l’intérieur lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé
ou après la saison froide. Inspectez le cordon électrique
avant l’utilisation. N’utilisez pas de rallonge électrique. Lisez
attentivement toutes les instructions avant l’installation.
Soyez très prudent en travaillant sur ou près d’un plan
d’eau gelé. Ne marchez jamais sur une glace mince.
PRÉCAUTION : Afin d’assurer une protection
continue contre le risque de décharge
électrique, ne branchez le cordon qu’à une prise
d’alimentation avec mise à la terre, en observant
les directives suivantes :
(A) Demandez à un électricien qualifié d’installer une
prise d’alimentation avec mise à la terre, conçue pour
utilisation extérieure et protégée de la neige et de la pluie,
immédiatement adjacente à l’emplacement où le dégivreur
de plan d’eau Aquascape de 300 Watts sera utilisé
(B) Faites parcourir le cordon d’alimentation et placez
l’appareil de chauffage de façon à ce qu’ils soient
protégés des dégâts causés par le bétail
(C) N’utilisez pas de rallonge électrique
(D) Inspectez le cordon d’alimentation avant l’utilisation
(E) Débranchez le dégivreur de plan d’eau Aquascape de 300
watts de la prise d’alimentation extérieure lorsqu’il n’est
pas utilisé ou avant le déplacement hors du plan d’eau;
(F) Rangez le dégivreur de plan d’eau Aquascape de 300
watts à l’intérieur après la saison froide ou lorsqu’il n’est
pas utilisé.
MODE D’EMPLOI
ÉTAPE 1 : Nous recommandons de placer le dégivreur
Aquascape de 300 watts au-dessus de la partie la plus
profonde du plan d’eau. Si la glace est complètement gelée,
poser le dégivreur sur le côté permettra de faire fondre la
glace lentement. Il sera possiblement nécessaire d’ajuster ou
de réorienter l’appareil de chauffage dans une position droite
lorsqu’il commence à fondre à travers la glace. Il faut être
patient, car l’appareil de chauffage peut prendre plusieurs
heures pour faire fondre la glace complètement. Ne jamais
briser la glace de force; le choc occasionnera un stress à
n’importe quel poisson et pourrait causer la perte inutile
de poissons. Nous recommandons de placer l’appareil de
chauffage dans l’étang pendant environ une heure avant
le branchement dans l’unité, permettant ainsi à l’unité de
s’ajuster à la température de l’eau.
ÉTAPE 2 : Branchez le cordon électrique dans une prise
d’alimentation GFI réglementée. La lampe témoin sera rouge
quand l’unité sera chaude ou chauffante, et bleue quand elle
est refroidie ou qu’elle ne chauffe pas.
AVeRTIsseMeNT : Lorsque la lampe témoin
est rouge, l’unité sera très chaude. Ne touchez
pas l’unité lorsque la lampe témoin est rouge.
Assurez-vous que l’unité soit débranchée et qu’elle a eu
suffisamment de temps pour se refroidir avant d’y toucher.
ÉTAPE 3 : Au printemps, ou lorsque l’appareil de chauffage
n’est plus nécessaire, débranchez l’unité et laissez-la dans
le plan d’eau pendant au moins une heure en tenant compte
du temps de refroidissement approprié. Avant de ranger
l’unité, lorsqu’elle n’est pas utilisée, nous recommandons de
nettoyer la surface extérieure avec un acide doux, comme le
vinaigre blanc, et de rincer ensuite à fond à l’eau du robinet.
Ceci enlèvera les dépôts de calcium et n’endommagera
pas la finition en acier inoxydable. Permettre aux dépôts
de calcium de s’accumuler sur l’unité peut empêcher le
thermostat de fonctionner correctement.

ReMARqUe : Le thermostat de

INSTRUCTIONS DE DÉPANNAGE
Dans l’éventualité où le dégivreur de plan d’eau Aquascape
de 300 watts fonctionnerait mal ou ne fonctionnerait pas,
vérifiez les points suivants :
• Assurez-vous que l’unité est branchée correctement;
• Assurez-vous que la prise d’alimentation GFI réglementée
ou le disjoncteur de fuite de terre fonctionne correctement;
• Assurez-vous que la lampe DEL sur le dessus de l’unité
indique que l’unité chauffe. La lampe DEL est rouge
lorsque l’unité chauffe. Si la lampe témoin DEL sur le
dessus de l’unité est bleue, l’appareil de chauffage est
en mode hors fonction et ne chauffe pas. La lampe
témoin DEL et le thermostat sont des fonctions de
sécurité de l’appareil de chauffage pour éviter les brûlures
accidentelles. S’ils ne fonctionnaient pas correctement, il
pourrait être nécessaire de remettre à zéro le thermostat
en débranchant l’appareil de chauffage pendant environ
une heure, afin de permettre à l’appareil de chauffage de
complètement se refroidir. Lorsque l’appareil est branché,
la lampe témoin DEL devrait devenir rouge, indiquant que
le chauffage est en fonction.
