PCVM-36O CONVERSION KIT
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For Use When Converting Model (V)O36N Series
from Natural Gas to Propane/LP Gas
This conversion kit must be
installed by a qualied service
agency.
Read these instructions completely before
installing this conversion kit.
Before proceeding, make sure gas control
valve is in the OFF position, all electrical
power to the appliance is OFF, and replace
is cool to the touch.
CAUTION: The gas supply
shall be shut off prior to dis-
connecting the electrical power
before proceeding with the
conversion.

ACCESSING FIREPLACE
The gas control valve is located under re-
box oor of appliance. Main burner orice is
located under log/grate assembly and pilot
orice is located in pilot burner to right of
chassis assembly.
FULLY OPEN
BURNER ORIFICE CONVERSION
The burner orice is located under grate/log
assembly.
1. Carefully lift front of grate/log assembly.
Place object about 6" in height under
front portion of grate to hold assembly
up for access to air shutter.
2. Using 2 adjustable wrenches, loosen
compression nut from orice by turning
wrenches in opposite directions. Remove
compression nut from orice.
3. Loosen orice from air shutter using
wrench. Remove orice from air shutter.
4. Apply a light amount of propane/LP
resistant sealant to threaded end of LP
orice supplied with kit. Thread LP orice
into air shutter and tighten with wrench.

GAS CONTROL VALVE CONVERSION
Convert gas control valve by changing valve
regulator portion of the gas valve. Valve is
located under rebox oor.
1. Grasp ring on top of access panel and pull
up to remove (see Figure 4). Valve is tilted
up toward rebox oor.
2. Using a Torx T20 or slotted screwdriver, re-
move and discard three mounting screws,
pressure regulator tower and diaphragm/
spring components (see Figure 5, page 3).
PILOT ORIFICE CONVERSION
The pilot is located to the right of log/grate
assembly (see Figure 2).
1. For better access, rotate assembly clock-
wise to pull right side closer to opening in
replace.
2. Remove pilot hood by pulling up until it
disengages from barrel. Do not remove
retainer clip (see Figure 3).
3. Remove pilot orice from inside barrel us-
ing a 5/32" allen wrench to unscrew orice.
4. Replace pilot orice with LP orice supplied
with this kit. The number 30 is stamped on
sleeve for identication. Insert small end of
new pilot orice into barrel and thread until
tight with allen wrench.
5. Line up notch on pilot hood to positioning
tab on barrel and snap back into position.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to bend or
kink aluminum tubing during conversion.
Make sure pilot hood and orice are prop-
erly mated and aligned after nishing this
conversion.
6. Reposition log/grate assembly in replace.

5. Apply a light amount of propane/LP
resistant sealant to other end of LP
orice. Thread compression nut/sleeve
onto LP orice and tighten holding both
compression nut and orice with adjust-
able wrenches.
6. Adjust air shutter to fully open (maximum)
position.
7. Lower log/chassis assembly and reposi-
tion in replace.

3. Insure that rubber gasket is properly posi-
tioned on new pressure regulator assembly.
Install LP pressure regulator assembly to
valve using new mounting screws supplied
with kit. Tighten screws securely (approxi-
mately 25 in-lbs.) (see Figure 6).
4. Install identication label enclosed with gas
valve regulator to valve body where it can
be easily seen (see Figure 6).
5. Replace access panel in rebox oor.

CONVERSION LABELING AND
PLACEMENT
1. With permanent ink, print previous model
number on the label in space provided
(see Figure 7). Apply conversion label over
existing certication label (see Figure 8).
Existing certication label is located on the
lighting instruction plate inside gas valve
compartment area.
2. After lling in data required on conversion
information label (see Figure 9 on page 4),
afx it to oor of appliance where it is easily
seen when access panel is removed.

FINAL PREPARATION
1. Leak check the gas control and any con-
nections you've made before operating the
appliance. Refer to Checking Gas Connec-
tions in owner’s manual.
2. Close screen before operating replace.
To operate your replace, refer to Operating
Fireplace in your appliance owner’s manual.
WARNING: Fireplace must
be operated only with doors
fully opened.
WARNING: Test all gas piping
and connections, internal and
external to unit, for leaks after
installing or servicing. Correct
all leaks at once.

WARNING: Never use an
open ame to check for a leak.
Apply noncorrosive leak detec-
tion uid to all joints. Bubbles
forming show a leak. Correct all
leaks at once.
WARNING: This conversion
kit shall be installed by a quali-
ed service agency in accor-
dance with the manufacturer's
instructions and all applicable
codes and requirements of the
authority having jurisdiction. If
the information in these instruc-
tions is not followed exactly, a
re, explosion or production of
carbon monoxide may result
causing property damage, per-
sonal injury or loss of life. The
qualied service agency is re-
sponsible for the proper installa-
tion of this kit. The installation is
not proper and complete until the
operation of the converted appli-
ance is checked as specied in
the manufacturer's instructions
supplied with this kit.
